Reborn as the Third Prince: To Build and Conquer my way to Royalty.-Chapter 49: Disappointment.
Chapter 49: Disappointment.
"Why should I give my star to someone like you?"
That question rammed a hole inside Lucas.
It wasn’t that one could transfer their star blessing to another at will; no, that was impossible and unheard of. freёnovelkiss-com
Yet, Lucas chose to indulge in Sylus’s words—words that clearly did some damage to him.
An ugly expression suddenly grew on his face.
"I’ll kill you," he let out, eyes burning with irritation.
Sylus smirked, opening his palm for his dagger to appear.
This would undoubtedly be the first time he battled his brother.
And there wasn’t a single hint of fear around him.
Arrgh!
Lucas made the first move, clenching his fist as tightly as he could.
Chaos magic swirled and pulsated around his palm, simultaneously purple and black.
Taking note of that, Sylus braced himself for impact.
As expected, Lucas launched himself forward, planning to hit Sylus directly with his fist.
A single hit, even just a touch, could break every bone in Sylus’s body.
Which left Sylus with two other options: either he ran to create a wide enough distance, or he set an attack of his own.
He made up his mind.
Using the purple energy from his dagger, he constructed a small shield, using it as a defense against Lucas’s attack.
Making contact with the shield, a huge force of energy exploded, seemingly destroying everything in its path.
Most of which came from the influence of chaos magic.
The damage was so large, even the king took notice of it.
Within the multiple falling trees and deep crater, Sylus and his brother were locked in a duel to the death.
Blades clashed.
Attacks were dodged and thrown as each one desperately tried to end the other’s life.
Occasionally, Lucas would land a couple of hits on Sylus and then instantly try to go for the kill using his chaos magic.
Only for Sylus to counter with an attack of his own and bring the battle around to his favor.
It didn’t take long for Lucas to get frustrated with the battle.
He never expected Sylus to actually stand a chance, not against his magic.
While his star blessing was destructive, it was essentially useless if he couldn’t land a single hit with it.
"Sylus!!! Why don’t you just die already?!!!"
Lucas yelled with rage, slashing his sword and sending a wave of chaos energy toward Sylus.
Leaning his back over the ground, Sylus was able to dodge it.
And just as he was about to stand up, Lucas saw an opportunity and felt compelled to launch an attack before Sylus could touch the ground with his feet.
Slam!
Lucas received a kick to the jaw that sent him stumbling a couple of feet back.
Now standing on his feet, Sylus stretched his hand forward.
[You have selected the skill Queen’s Touch.]
An invisible hand launched forward and clutched Lucas by the neck.
Confused, Lucas could only sway his arms carelessly, trying to use his chaos magic to eradicate whatever was choking him.
Alas, none of his attacks worked.
Slowly, Sylus raised his body into the air, watching as Lucas struggled to breathe.
And then, with a clench of his fist, he brought Lucas flying toward him.
The moment he was close, Sylus slammed the side of his sword against his face.
Causing him to fall to the ground, screaming in pain as blood dripped from his broken nose.
It didn’t seem as though Sylus was done either.
He grabbed Lucas by the leg and flung him against a tree.
Blood, once again, spewed from Lucas’s mouth upon impact.
Moments later, Sylus dashed forward, pushed Lucas’s head against the tree, and loomed closer.
"What’s wrong? You no longer have the will to fight back?"
The look on Lucas’s face said it all—he was stunned.
That ability Sylus used just then was the same as Elizabeth’s.
"H-how?"
He managed to let out, with a frown on his face.
"...that power...doesn’t belong to you."
Lucas tried to raise his hand, attempting to get Sylus off him by using his star blessing.
Step.
Sylus placed his leg right on top of Lucas’s, stapling it there.
And then—
Ahhhh!
A scream burst from his mouth as Sylus used his feet to crush Lucas’s finger, breaking nearly every bone.
The despair grew even more as Lucas fell to the side, grunting heavily.
Sylus watched, a pitiful look on his face.
"I thought you were stronger."
He voiced out, slowly standing to his feet.
Picking the blade next to him, he jabbed Lucas in the leg, nailing him to the ground.
Cries filled the air as Lucas tried to free himself, but it was hopeless.
With slow, steady steps, Sylus walked toward his front and sat down on the ground.
He then placed his hand on Lucas’s head, lightly rubbing his hair while locking gazes with him.
"How many times have you tried to kill me in the past?"
Lucas endeavored to crawl away, as if he knew what was coming, but he was unable to move a muscle from his position.
Sylus was not the only one holding him down; the blade in his leg was also doing so.
"I-I give up; you can have the sword."
That simple, huh?
To be honest, Sylus never spent much time with Lucas; however, he hoped his brother would be more of a threat, given that he had Astrodial blood running through his veins.
Disappointing.
With a single motion, Sylus grabbed his dagger and then aimed it close to Lucas’s neck.
Lucas froze up, the dread on his face more visible.
"Wait, wait, wait! Don’t kill me. I gave in, didn’t I? You win—there’s no reason for you to—"
"Shut up."
The blade slightly chafed Lucas’s throat.
"I know how people like you act and think. The moment I let you go, you would try it over and over again. I don’t intend on giving you that opportunity."
"I-I promise I won’t. Y-you can have Father’s praise, the throne, everything."
"Bold of you to assume I care what Father thinks. You both can shove it up your asses."
Just when Sylus was about to slit Lucas’s throat—
"Prince Sylus—"
