Chapter 342: Chapter 342: Practice

"Sis."

Hugh Kensington and Sloane Hawthorne called out at the same time.

That vocal coach also greeted her, "Miss."

Selena Kensington nodded slightly at them and took out the manuscripts from her bag.

"Burning?"

Hugh took it, raised an eyebrow at the song title on it.

Hugh glanced down a bit, then lifted his head, "Sis, I thought you and your brother-in-law went traveling for a few days and forgot your skills..."

"..."

Selena gave him a punch on the shoulder.

"Watch your mouth! Am I the kind of person who loses focus because of recreation?"

"..."

Hugh really wanted to say yes, but seeing Selena’s increasingly dangerous look.

He chose to lower his head.

Yield to his sister’s authority.

"No."

Selena was satisfied and didn’t waste more words with Hugh, diving straight into the topic.

"Hum a tune first. I feel like there’s something off with this melody."

Hugh, helpless, hummed a tune following the notes on Selena’s sheet.

After he finished humming, he frowned slightly as well.

"Feels like, something’s missing."

He handed it to the vocal coach next to him, who thought for a moment after looking it over.

"Miss, this tune seems too slanted towards an intense pitch, which might not suit Sloane’s voice."

"Mm... seems so."

Yesterday, when composing, she unconsciously channeled Hugh’s vocals, so she didn’t consider Sloane’s vocal qualities.

With her vocal range, some lower notes might be better emphasized.

"The studio equipment is all turned on, right?"

"Been on for a while," Hugh said.

Selena nodded, looking towards Sloane, "Sloane, take a look at this tune, see if you can hum it out."

Sloane took the sheet music and glanced at it.

"I’ll give it a try."

So, they let Sloane enter the recording studio.

The three of them outside put on headphones and adjusted the equipment.

Sloane placed the sheet music on the stand and also put on headphones.

Selena adjusted the equipment slightly and then said to Sloane, "Go ahead."

Sloane’s voice transmitted to the three of them through the headphones.

"Stop!"

After humming a few lines, Selena made her stop first.

She seemed a bit helpless, "I think I set the high notes too high."

It was her oversight.

But Sloane’s unique voice was indeed a pleasant surprise for Selena.

Even though her humming still seemed a bit raw, Selena had great confidence in her.

"No need for too low; after training, Sloane’s voice can still handle general high notes."

"Hmm... Sloane, continue."

Finally, they had Sloane hum through the entire song.

She came out, and Selena asked her, "How does it feel? Any parts that seem awkward?" 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Sloane let out a sigh of relief, "Some notes are hard to reach, and the transitions... don’t quite work."

Hugh looked at her, "Haven’t practiced enough; your voice today isn’t fully opened up..."

"I’ll arrange some related courses for her later," the vocal coach chimed in.

"Alright, let’s call it a day. I’ll make some revisions," Selena said, then had Sloane follow the vocal coach for practice.

Only Selena and Hugh remained in the recording studio.

Hugh looked at her, "Sis, you’ve been enjoying yourself these days, huh?"

Selena smiled and shot him a look, "What? Jealous?"

Hugh shrugged, "Not at all."

Selena wanted to chat more with Hugh, but her phone rang.

She took out her phone, Warren Hale?

Why would he be looking for her?

Selena exchanged a glance with Hugh, then pressed the answer button.
