After Rebirth: The Alpha Ex-Husband Is Addicted to Me-Chapter 229: I’m Pregnant (33)
Very soon, Elizabeth was trending.
Many people were commenting online with a gossip mentality.
[I always said these two had dated. It seems true. From Elizabeth’s words, they broke up because Silas was too immature. Now he’s matured but married someone else.]
[Poor Elizabeth, dated Singer Sheppard when she was famous, and now she’s still alone, having to bless her ex. Heartbreaking.]
[I heard Silas Sheppard and Lily Green both showed up at the matchmaking banquet last night. They’re definitely in a loveless marriage. I think a woman like Lily Green must have someone she likes, including Silas Sheppard. It’s clearly a family alliance, just a sacrifice. Rich people are so unfortunate.]
...
Silas Sheppard and Lily Green ignored all the online comments.
The two tacitly said nothing, as if nothing had happened.
They did what they had to do.
Got their marriage certificate, measured the wedding dress size, then went for their wedding photoshoot. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
The shoot lasted until almost six in the afternoon, had dinner together outside, and returned to Silas’s villa after seven.
Lily Green’s luggage had been sent over.
She didn’t know whether tonight counted as the wedding night or if it was the night of the ceremony.
So she felt particularly nervous.
Upon entering the house, a middle-aged woman in black bowed to them, "Young Master, Young Madam, you’re back?"
"Butler Wallace, is everything I asked prepared?"
"Yes, Young Master, everything is ready."
Lily Green was puzzled, "Prepared what?"
Butler Wallace said with a smile, "Young Madam, of course, it’s your bridal chamber with Young Master. Young Master asked me to set it up a bit. If Young Madam doesn’t like it, you can instruct me tomorrow."
Upon hearing the words ’bridal chamber’, Lily Green suddenly quickened her pace, overtaking Silas Sheppard and heading to the bedroom first.
The setup was very festive.
It looked pleasing and comfortable.
Hearing the door close, Lily Green turned to look at Silas Sheppard, stammering, "I... I’ll go shower first."
Silas Sheppard watched as she put down her bag, grabbed her nightgown, and hurried into the bathroom, smiling indulgently.
He sat down, drinking three glasses of wine in succession to calm his inner tension.
"Knock knock knock." Butler Wallace knocked on the door outside, "Young Master, there’s a girl outside looking for Young Madam, saying it’s a matter of life and death, very urgent."
Silas Sheppard got up to open the door, "Who is it?"
"She didn’t say, just seemed very anxious."
"Let her wait in the living room. Young Madam is showering, I’ll relay it when she’s out."
"Yes." Butler Wallace withdrew from the room.
When Lily Green came out of the shower and heard Silas say that, she immediately went to the dressing room to change clothes and went downstairs with Silas.
She didn’t expect that it was Logan Moore’s childhood friend Anne looking for her.
"How did you find this place?"
"I sought help from the police. Miss Green, hurry and see Logan, he’s not doing well."
Upon hearing this, Lily Green immediately became anxious, "What do you mean he’s not doing well? What’s happened to him?!"
"After hearing rumors about your marriage from pilgrims, he started seeking the truth, even saw news reports confirming it. When he wanted to come for you, his parents stopped him and locked him in his room. Desperate, he attempted suicide by cutting his wrists with a blade..."
The taut string in Lily Green’s heart snapped, and she felt internally tangled, "Where is he now?!"
"He’s being treated at the hospital near the temple. You should hurry over."
"Wait for me, I’ll get the car keys."
"Take my car." Silas Sheppard handed the car keys to her.
Lily Green looked at him, noting that Silas Sheppard’s face remained calm; he seemed to have understood everything from Anne’s words.
She took the car keys, said "Thank you," and turned to leave quickly.
Butler Wallace looked at Silas Sheppard worriedly, "Young Master..."
"Whatever that girl said today, pretend you didn’t hear it. Not a single word is to be spread, got it?"
Butler Wallace nodded, "Rest assured, Young Master, I understand."
...
After getting into the car, her eyes couldn’t help but redden.
All the way, Lily Green was worried sick, wishing she could reach the hospital the next instant.
The car stopped inside the hospital, and she raced to the emergency room, running all the way up, breathless and panting.
Outside the operating room, no shadows were visible. After asking at the front desk, she learned Logan Moore had been successfully treated and moved to a ward.
Lily Green walked quickly in her cotton slippers, having left in such a hurry, she didn’t even change her shoes.
She opened the ward door and saw Logan Moore lying in bed with closed eyes, tears streamed down her cheeks.
Logan’s mother saw her and had no pleasant expression, "Getting married is one thing, but why make such a big fuss, getting into the news?! Can’t you keep a low profile?"
Lily Green looked at her with sharp eyes, "Do I need to seek your approval for how I get married?"
Logan’s mother was speechless, snorted, "It’s all because of you! You pushed Logan into this situation. You should’ve known better from the start. Knowing it couldn’t work with Logan, why entice him?!"
Lily Green didn’t want to say more to her. She sat silently in the chair by the bed, gazing at the unconscious Logan Moore.
She never expected he’d reach such depths of despair.
Her heart ached to numbness, sitting there as if her soul had wandered away.
It wasn’t until past four in the morning that Logan Moore awakened.
"Son, you scared me to death." Logan’s mother’s face softened with relief, "How could you be so foolish? If you died, what would happen to your parents?!"
"You, Dad, and Anne should go back. I want to talk to Lily alone."
Upon hearing this, Logan’s mother was angry but dared not provoke him further, "We’ll head back to the temple. We’ll come by with breakfast at seven."
"Okay."
Lily Green hadn’t closed her eyes all night, and upon hearing the door close as Logan’s mother and the others left, she finally broke down, crying on his chest.
Logan Moore placed his hand on her hair, "Don’t cry."
She raised her tearful eyes to him, "Why couldn’t you let go? If you died, were you intent on making me live in pain for my entire life?"
He reached out to wipe her tears, "I once scorned love, didn’t think it was crucial. But now, I realize that without you, every second of my life is superfluous. Lily, I can’t live without you. Don’t leave me, please?"
The plea in his eyes pierced Lily Green’s heart, "Logan, we can’t be together because neither of us can abandon everything only for ourselves. I chose this marriage willingly; no one forced me. Between us, there is fate but no destiny."
He gripped her hand tightly, his eyes moist and hot, "Lily, you don’t love him. How could you possibly be happy?!"
