Reborn as the Sweetheart of a Paranoid Boss-Chapter 153: Sweet Moments
Selena Kensington pursed her lips slightly, and Sterling Norwood reassured her, "I’m fine, don’t worry."
"You better tell me everything honestly!"
Selena said ’fiercely’.
Sterling agreed, "Now isn’t the time."
He would tell her the whole truth, but now wasn’t the time.
Selena said no more.
The two settled the bill and left the private kitchen.
Not far from the entrance, a person hidden in the shadows watched Selena and Sterling come out, repeatedly pressing the shutter button on their camera.
Once Selena and Sterling were in the car, that person stowed away the camera.
He took out his phone and sent a message to someone: "Got the shots, as usual."
*
Nightfall.
Selena dried her hair and was about to go to bed, but Sterling took her to the back mountain of The Northwood Estate.
Though the mountain top was occupied by The Northwood Estate, most of Selena’s activities were in the front yard. The backyard, where the servants lived, was near the cliffside, so she had never been there.
Selena watched curiously as Sterling went straight past the servants’ quarters, heading towards the cliff.
At the edge of the cliff, a massive tree coiled there.
The branches of that giant tree twisted out over the cliff.
The branches were sturdy, ensuring that sitting on them was safe and one wouldn’t fall.
Yet looking down from above was thrilling enough.
"How could there be such a place here?!"
Selena exclaimed in delight.
Surrounded by lush trees, and with its location at the cliff edge, few people ever came.
Sterling easily climbed onto the giant tree’s branches, extending his hand to pull Selena up.
The giant tree suddenly startled a flock of magpies.
Frightened by Sterling’s movement, they flew away.
"I used to come here often."
Sterling said nonchalantly.
Selena couldn’t help but feel a pang of sorrow; Sterling had been confined to The Northwood Estate since childhood, and with his parents passing early, Saul, as the Family Head, was naturally very busy, leaving young Sterling to live alone.
The estate’s servants dared not speak much with him, so Sterling used to come here.
It was considered his secret hideout.
Selena was the first person he brought here.
Selena wrapped her arms around his neck, looking down.
Below was darkness, but Selena’s keen eyes spotted a few faint lights.
"What’s below...?"
"The training camp."
Sterling answered her.
The Norwood Family had a specialized place to train their talents and servants.
The world’s light and darkness coexist, and the Norwood Family’s Mount Serpentis even more so.
The front was the residence for various Norwood Family members, while the back served as a training ground for servants and assassins. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
They underwent systematic training from the Norwood Family, covering various aspects.
So they could serve the family well.
One could say that the entirety of Mount Serpentis was fortified like a fortress, layered with protection.
Selena nodded.
She raised her head and looked at Sterling.
The cold moonlight illuminated the earth, piercing through the giant tree’s leaves, casting patches on Sterling’s face.
Flickering light and shadow.
Occasionally, birds took flight in the woods; otherwise, it was an abyss of silence.
The earth had fallen asleep, and compared to the distant neon-lit city, Mount Serpentis seemed lonely and quiet.
Selena reached out, gently pressing down Sterling’s neck, making him lower his head.
She kissed him.
Sterling paused, then began to respond to her.
Under the endless silent moonlit night, atop the ancient and sturdy giant tree.
Two lovers embraced in a kiss.
It was as if it could last a lifetime.
What happened afterward was beyond Selena’s control; she was not responsible after initiating.
But as they say, someone who gets you riled up will have to pay sooner or later.
Thus, Selena didn’t make it to the company the next day.
