Reborn As Divine Doctor to Rule the World-Chapter 158 - 159: Really Standing Up
Chapter 158: Chapter 159: Really Standing Up
Shao He finished treating two patients, turned to the side room, and left after taking out a mechanical prosthesis.
In the Eldest Prince’s Mansion.
Pei Siyang kept looking outside—unable to spot the figure he yearned so desperately to see, which drove him into a state of panic. He looked at his disabled legs and ironically smiled.
“What are you exactly hoping for, hoping that you can really stand up? Those are just deceiving words.”
The maid, seeing the man talking to himself, was scared to step inside the doorway.
Pei Siyang noticed the maid outside the door and roared, “What are you standing there for, get in here!”
“This servant greets Your Highness…”
Pei Siyang coldly surveyed the maid kneeling to greet him and asked, “They haven’t come yet, have they?”
The maid lowered her head and answered, “No.”
Upon hearing this, Pei Siyang’s eyes dimmed slightly, then returned to normal: “Understood, you may leave.”
The maid obeyed and stepped outside. The room was exceptionally quiet; Pei Siyang lifted his finger, gently touching his numb legs, a bitter curve forming on his lips.
He closed his eyes to rest for a moment, and when he opened them, his eyes had regained their customary calmness.
Suddenly, Pei Siyang crazily swept the teaware on the table to the floor, the clattering noise resounding through the entire room.
The maid, shocked by the sudden outburst, stood trembling outside the door.
“What’s going on?”
A voice suddenly sounded, startling the maid so much that she dropped the tray she held, which clinked noisily upon hitting the ground.
Pei Siyang also noticed the voice outside the door, looked up, saw the visitor, and masked the expression in his eyes, “You’ve arrived. Come in.”
Pei Siyang glanced at the dazed maid and said sternly, “Haven’t you hurried in to clean up the room yet?”
“Yes.” The little maid hurried into the room and quickly swept up the broken pieces from the floor.
Shao He was indifferent to all this, took out the prosthetic and began attaching it to Pei Siyang’s legs. He then handed him a sheet of diagrams that he had specifically drawn up the night before, intended to help him better understand the structure of the device on his legs.
“Can this thing really let me stand up again?” Pei Siyang looked at the diagrams on his legs, slightly incredulous and asked Shao He excitedly, his voice somewhat trembling.

“Of course. Try to stand up slowly now; you need to understand it and know how to utilize it to walk,” Shao He instructed while pointing to the device on the diagram.
“Just follow the steps outlined here, but remember, don’t be too hasty.”
Pei Siyang took a deep breath, suppressed the wild joy in his heart, and slowly tried to rise from the wheelchair.
When he first stood up, he almost fell, but fortunately, he grasped the table next to him in time to prevent falling.
But it was only for a brief few seconds; Pei Siyang tried again to stand up slowly, following the method on the diagram.
“It seems… it seems to work!”
Pei Siyang’s eyes lit up, ecstatic. He could feel his legs slightly moving forward, though very faintly, they indeed moved.
Shao He slightly smiled, “Then try taking a few steps and get accustomed to it before walking more.”
“Hmm.”
Pei Siyang took a deep breath, struggled to calm his excitement, and slowly shifted his feet; each step was very difficult but he persisted in moving forward until he completed the motion.
“Why is it like this?” Pei Huaian had seen Bai Yi walk much faster than this.
Shao He slightly tilted his chin and said, “It’s because his legs are fitted with mechanical prostheses, which are not very easy to move with and require a long time to adapt; otherwise, walking can be difficult.”
“I see.” Pei Huaian then understood, it’s no wonder that the prosthetic he saw before was different from the current one.
Pei Siyang was drenched in sweat, but a thrilled smile still hung on his face, he finally could walk like a normal person!
Seeing this, Pei Huaian brought over a glass of water and handed it to him, “Imperial Brother, drink some water and rest a bit before continuing to practice.”
Pei Siyang took the tea, gulped down a few mouthfuls, and felt much more relaxed.
“I can still go on.” Pei Siyang was still not proficient in walking, but it had already greatly surprised him.
Shao He walked over and handed him a paper with many precautions written on it, then said, “These are the things you need to pay attention to. I’ve listed everything for you. It’d be best if you practiced more, taking it step by step.”
Pei Huaian spoke up to comfort, “Imperial Brother, don’t be discouraged. I believe you will soon become proficient through gradual practice. If Father learns of this, he will definitely be very pleased.”
“Hmm, but I hope to exercise more and go to give Father a surprise after I can walk,” Pei Siyang did not want the Emperor to know about this at the moment.
“Alright, I understand,” Pei Huaian knew he did not want to disappoint the Emperor and agreed to temporarily keep this matter secret.
Pei Siyang’s gaze shifted, landing on Shao He, and he bowed, “Thank you, Doctor Shao, for your treatment. I will instruct my steward to prepare a generous gift, and I hope you will accept it.”
“Alright, if you need anything, you can go to Anji Hall or send the Fifth Prince to find me,” Shao He did not refuse and nodded in agreement.
Charging for medical treatments was normal, and she wasn’t a philanthropist to provide free treatments.
Pei Siyang’s thoughts were all focused on the prosthetic; he was so excited he didn’t even want to stop for a moment.
“Imperial Brother, since the prosthetic has already been delivered, then we shall take our leave. If you need anything, just send someone to inform me,” Pei Huaian said with a smile.
“Alright,” Pei Siyang barely had time to lift his head as he continued to lean on the table, slowly moving forward.
Pei Huaian and Shao He stood up and left, leaving him to slowly practice by himself.
