Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 94: Ch : Break into Base Again? - Part 1
Andrew quickly walked past Clara and entered the base. Once inside, he wasted no time in putting the barrier back around the base.
[Beacon has been restored.]
[Base capacity restored.]
[Base Capacity: 5/10]
The transparent barrier came back, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Clara, who had just been dealt a devastating blow, also relaxed as she threw herself against the hard floor and closed her eyes.
"I will sleep for some while to cope with what happened. Please do not wake me up until it’s time for us to eat."
She warned as she closed her eyes and fell asleep. Lilianna fell asleep minutes later, now no longer being able to take the strain on her body.
Andrew watched them and then turned toward the other two.
"You both should sleep as well. I will keep watch for now."
He told the two, and they did not argue much and went to sleep. Even if their base had been restored, it was better for them to sleep in shifts and keep an eye on things. That way, they would be prepared to catch any attack in time.
Fortunately, things remained quiet for some time. But that peace also meant that Andrew and the others started to lose their rankings.
By the time everyone else woke up, they were all out of the top 10 rankings.
"We will have to go out and hunt if we want to maintain our top 10 rankings. Clara, Lilianna, you both take care of the base for now. We will be around, taking care of the monsters. It would be good if we are able to find a nest or two."
Andrew told the others, and they agreed. They all knew that there would be rewards for landing in the top 10. But both Clara and Lilianna had no chance of doing that. So they agreed to help where they could.
The three fighters stepped outside of the barrier, and monsters started to come at them. It was a slow process to kill them and not as efficient as Andrew would have liked.
Emperor had his own way of killing he had mastered after repeating this game a few times in the past, but being in a team was reducing his overall count as well.
"We need a way to gather a lot of them so that we can get them in a single hit. Does anyone have any ideas?"
Seraphina asked, and Andrew suddenly realized what he could do. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"I can group them using my barrier. Let’s take turns eliminating the hordes."
Andrew told them as he got his barrier ready. Since he had buffed his stats, his barriers held up against the monsters, and he quickly gathered a dozen or so. Seraphina wasted no time in eliminating them.
Her numbers immediately jumped up, and Andrew did the same for Emperor.
He kept repeating the process until both Emperor and Seraphina were clearly placed in the top 8 and 7 positions respectively.
And then, it was his turn.
Out of the three, he was the one who had the most range but the least damage. But he compensated for it by attacking frequently and drinking mana-replenishing potions when he ran out of attack power.
It was a slow and painful process that burned through his stash of potions and money. But since Lilianna was not here to support him, this was what he had to do.
’Having a buffer is so much more comfortable than chugging these potions. For now, should we head back?’
Andrew looked around, but there were not any more monsters coming his way. They were able to return to the base.
By the time they got back, Clara had the food supply back up and running.
The next two days were not any more adventurous than this one. They were slow, and not a lot of monsters appeared.
The rankings did not change either, which was relieving.
However, on the last day, something disastrous happened. Smoke could be seen coming from the distance where Thief’s base was.
"Looks like something happened there. Should we go and check?"
Clara asked as she kept an eye on the timer.
[Game ending time: 21 hours 20 minutes]
There was not a lot of time left, and a mistake could be fatal now.
"We...should check it out. There might be a huge problem."
Lilianna agreed, now suddenly feeling torn between wanting to help or not. She did not want to leave the base, but people might need help...
"We might as well check out what happened."
Andrew told them, and for the last time, they decided to visit Thief’s base.
But when they got there, things were... difficult to see.
The base was being heavily attacked by monsters on all sides, and there was no barrier.
[Current base capacity exceeded]
[Base Capacity: 210/120]
People were trying to run, but they had nowhere to run.
"What happened here...?"
Clara asked as she looked around. The destroyed base was falling apart.
"H-Help me...! Someone... stole the beacons..."
A heavily injured man reached them before he died. His blood smeared Andrew’s clothes, but he did not look phased.
"What do we do now? This place is..."
Lilianna looked worried, and it was clear that a lot of people might need to die before the base stabilized.
Fortunately, Monkey King came to meet them quickly.
"You are here? Thief told me that you might arrive around this time and I should tell you what happened here. Someone... stole the beacons. At least 10 of them... we don’t know who did it because Thief’s vision did not show him. He said you might be able to help..."
Monkey King looked at Seraphina, and everyone else turned toward her as well. Her heart skipped a beat, wondering if she had been caught keeping the extra beacons in her inventory.
"How will I be able to help?"
She asked, and Monkey King looked embarrassed and turned away.
"Ah, sorry. I did not mean to accuse you. Thief did not tell us much. He just said that you might be able to save us..."
Andrew nodded at his words.
"I see. The beacon thief could not have gone far. We will see if we can track him down and get the beacons back for your base."
He promised, and Monkey King looked relieved.
