Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 111: Ch : Saving the Kids - Part 1
The kids were suffering as they reached for Andrew. Their desperation showed clearly in their eyes as they attacked everyone around them.
Queen was the first to react as she continued to fight back against these kids. She showed no mercy, and her abilities froze the kids’ arms and legs.
"Queen, be a little more careful with these kids. We need to find a way to snap them back..."
Thief warned her, but he seemed doubtful whether it was something possible or not. He had not seen such a future coming either. But he felt a little sorry because all the hard work they had put into preparing these kids seemed to come down to nothing.
"I am trying. But I don’t think these kids are interested in getting saved."
Queen complained, mostly to make her life easier and for Thief to not feel any guilt over what he was doing.
Andrew and Seraphina’s side was more relaxed, but the modified kids had noticed them as well and were slowly starting to turn their attention toward the kids.
[Secret Mission accomplished.]
[A new optional mission has been created: Erase the evidence.]
Since the mission was optional and had no penalty, Seraphina did not see a point in trying to fulfil it. She was just thankful that someone had completed the system’s mission for her at this point.
"What do you want to do? Should we put these kids out of their misery?"
Seraphina asked as she kept an eye on her extra mission tab to see if anything else would pop up. But thankfully, nothing did, and she could relax.
"Well, I do feel sorry for the kids. As for helping them out, I might have an idea. I think one of my abilities might be able to help them regain their sanity..."
Andrew told her, wanting to take a risk.
He was not sure how much influence Truth-And-Lies could extract on a situation, but there was a chance it could help out here.
If not, then the choice of putting these kids out of their misery was real.
"Can you help? Then do it."
Thief yelled from the other side.
[50% of the people here believe your words. Please raise your ratings to 75% to make your skill take effect.]
’Tsk, what a hassle. So many people here do not believe my words.’
It was a shame, and unfortunately, there was no way for Andrew to know who was the one who did not believe him.
But one of the non-believers was clearly the system’s agent, who seemed to be having fun while sitting on top of the branch and watching this all happen.
"You all should give up on these kids and end them. It’ll not only help you take care of a threat, but also promote me in the system rankings. Here, let me help as well... woah-! Be careful."
Andrew aimed his attack at the unknown man, and he barely made it alive from that attack. Slowly, anger began to fill his eyes as he looked at Andrew.
"What do you think you are doing? You almost hit me. What would have happened if you had..."
"Just die already."
Andrew replied back as he caged the non-human in his barrier. The non-human broke it easily, only to immediately be cornered by Seraphina.
"Woah-! Two-on-one? This is unfair. Hey kids, help me out here..."
Andrew quickly formed a barrier around the man, not allowing the kids to head toward him and Seraphina.
Seraphina took advantage of the distraction and struck the non-human down.
"Y-You-! Why would you-! Aren’t you..."
The man questioned, but he never got to finish his sentence before he ran out of air.
[65% of people here believe your words. Please raise your ratings to 75% to make your skill take effect.]
It was close now. Andrew was almost there, and just one more person could make his skill take effect.
"Everyone, listen. I am now going to help you regain your sanity. If you can hear me, then I will need you to believe in me. This might be your only chance to come back, so think carefully."
He told the kids, but it did not seem as if they heard him.
However, his approval rating went up by 1%, so it was helping.
"N-Now more...! I cannot... take it anymore..."
One of the kids whispered before they ended up using their abilities on themselves. It was an instant kill, and everyone looked stunned.
[80% of people here believe your words. Truth-And-Lies will take effect now.]
[Status ailment has been lifted from genetically modified children. They will be added to the system database as your familiars.]
[New stat: Familiar has been opened. Limit: 10. Please upgrade the limit in the shop.]
[Exp farmed by the familiar will not be shared with the owner, but the money will be split 50%.]
[Current Familiar Limit 5/10]
There were a lot of messages at the same time, which made Andrew sigh. It was not easy for him to keep up with all of that.
"The kids... are you all alright?"
Seraphina turned toward the kids who were slowly beginning to gain consciousness. They blinked as they looked up, but they looked scared.
"W-What happened... we lost control..."
"The system categorized you as dangerous, so it tried to get rid of you. Thankfully, our next batch is not ready, so they should be fine. Now, let’s go back. The people who paid for your service are waiting for you."
Thief told the kids in front of him. He tried to sound kind and caring, but he came across as a tyrant in these kids’ eyes.
They looked scared of Thief and of losing themselves.
"No-! I don’t want to go back. I-I want to live my life as I want. I won’t go back at all."
One of the kids yelled, and the others agreed as well. They were all in agreement, which caused Thief to become surprised.
"What are you talking about? We already had a deal over you. Besides, this is why you gained your new powers. Don’t you want to be useful...?"
"I... we..."
The kids looked speechless. They wanted freedom, but they also knew that their life came at a steep price that they needed to repay.
