Reborn as a Tough Army Wife-Chapter 634 - 629: Blood Test
Fang Pingying had not been gone long from Luo Dashan’s house when Luo Honglan originally planned to immediately take the little ones to Fang Pingying’s place, as their house was too small and there was nowhere for them to play.
But just as they were about to leave, there came a knock at the door, and Luo Honglan went to open it.
Upon opening the door, she saw Luo Zhiming standing at the threshold with some items in his hands. Luo Honglan was somewhat displeased to see him and frowned as she asked, "Why did you come?"
Luo Zhiming raised the items he was carrying and cheerfully said, "I collected a few days of wages, quite a bit actually. I bought some drinks and dishes, thinking I’d have a good meal with you and dad. I’ve never earned money and spent it on you all before."
Hearing him say this, Luo Honglan’s heart softened, but then she remembered the little ones and said, "Second brother, why don’t you come tomorrow? We’ve got some things going on at home today, and we still have to go out."
"What’s going on?" Luo Zhiming walked right into the house and was taken aback when he saw the several little ones there. He asked Luo Dashan, who was sitting inside watching the children, "Dad, who are these little ones?"
"These two are your brother’s kids," Luo Dashan replied, pointing at Haohao and hesitating a little before adding, "This one is Haohao, Fang Xiu’s child."
"Haohao." Luo Zhiming focused on Haohao, "So this is Haohao?"
When Fang Xiu gave birth to Haohao, he was in a heated relationship with Xu He, and besides being sure the child wasn’t his, he hadn’t even seen the child since he was born, nor did he care. Presumably, no one would care for such a child.
This child was essentially the proof of Fang Xiu’s betrayal.
But now his state of mind had changed. He no longer hated Fang Xiu, and naturally, he no longer felt any aversion to Haohao either.
He stared at Haohao for a while, reached out to touch his head, and called out to him, "Haohao."
Haohao didn’t recognize Luo Zhiming, but he was extremely polite. He looked up and grinned at Luo Zhiming, sweetly calling out, "Uncle."
Luo Zhiming nodded at him and then sighed, "Time really flies. I always feel like it was not long ago that I was with Fang Xiu, but I never imagined the child would be this big already."
Hearing this, Luo Dashan also sighed, "If those things hadn’t happened back then, ah..."
Luo Zhiming knew what Luo Dashan wanted to say. He thought back to the events that had occurred in the family since he divorced Fang Xiu and suddenly felt an immeasurable regret, and said to Luo Dashan and Luo Honglan, "Dad, Honglan, I understand now too. Xu He really isn’t as good as Fang Xiu. I regret it so much now, having married Xu He and brought her back home."
Luo Honglan and Luo Dashan were both stunned, not expecting Luo Zhiming to say such things so earnestly, especially since he had chased after Xu He with such fervor before, and they assumed he still held her in high regard.
After a moment of silence, Luo Honglan looked at Luo Zhiming weakly and said, "What use is it that you understand now? We all know Xu He isn’t good, but back then you were like possessed, insisting on bringing her home at all costs, even when Sister Xiu was heavily pregnant, you still kept messing around with Xu He."
Luo Honglan was right, but it was too late to talk about it now. Luo Dashan felt that the more they talked, the more chaotic it became, and he gestured to Luo Honglan and Luo Zhiming, "Let it be, let it be. Let’s not talk about past events. You have children with Xu He now, just live well in the future and don’t think about harming our family again."
Zhiming knew this was true, so he hung his head and nodded, but suddenly a thought flashed through his mind, and he looked up at Haohao. After a long look, he suddenly said, "Dad, you said that since Xu He could have my child, why couldn’t Xiu’er have my child?"
Dashan and Honglan were stunned; they did not expect Zhiming to entertain such an unrealistic idea.
But Zhiming felt increasingly certain of his suspicion, he excitedly grabbed Dashan, saying, "Dad, I remember when I was going to divorce Xiu’er, she said the child was mine, I just didn’t believe it."
Seeing Zhiming getting all worked up and the children being scared by his outburst, Honglan quickly pulled him aside and coaxed the children to play by themselves. She whispered, "Second Brother, don’t let your imagination run wild. It’s too good to be true, either you have no son or suddenly you have two."
"I just feel that Haohao is my son," Zhiming said as if possessed. After watching Haohao for a while, he started walking towards him, muttering, "No, I have to take Haohao to the hospital for a test to see if the child is really mine."
Honglan saw this and immediately grabbed him, whispering sharply, "Have you lost your mind, just acting on a whim like that?"
Zhiming shook off Honglan’s hand, insisting on taking Haohao to the hospital. The two struggled for a long time, making all the children cry.
In the end, it was Dashan who spoke up, "Well, Honglan, just let him go for the test at the hospital, once it’s clear, he’ll give up the idea."
Actually, Dashan too had his ulterior motive; he couldn’t figure out why, but he always felt something odd about the child in Xu He’s womb. By comparison, he hoped more that Haohao was his biological grandson.
Hearing that Dashan agreed, Zhiming set out to the hospital with Haohao. Unable to stop him, Honglan called for Dashan to come along. On the way, she had Dashan take Yaoyao and Ruirui to Fang Pingying’s house, while she followed them to the hospital.
Upon reaching the hospital, the doctors were told about the test they wanted to conduct. They were informed that such complex technology was not yet available at this hospital and that they would need to go to a larger hospital and the cost would definitely be high, so they should be mentally prepared.
When the doctor mentioned the price, Zhiming was shocked. Even if he worked for half a year, he wouldn’t be able to gather that much money, so he had no choice but to give up.
However, he remembered that blood type tests might also reveal if the child was his biological offspring, so he asked the doctor to test both his and Haohao’s blood.
The doctor explained clearly that while a blood test could to some extent rule out a father-son relationship, it wasn’t precise, cautioning him to consider it carefully.
But Zhiming insisted, disregarding Honglan’s objections, and took Haohao to have their blood tested.
Ever since the little guy entered the hospital, he couldn’t stop crying. The shadow of a past injury when his hand got caught, had already made him wary of hospitals.
Now having had a tube of blood drawn, he cried inconsolably, refusing to be held by Zhiming, and amidst his weeping and tantrums, he cried for Honglan to hold him, pointing at Zhiming and accusing, "Stinky uncle, I don’t want you anymore."
After the blood type results came out, the doctor said it was possible they were father and son, but it couldn’t be confirmed. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
But in Zhiming’s heart, whether he was too desperate for a son or too eager to share a bond with Fang Xiu, he was from then on convinced that Haohao was his son, his legitimate offspring.
