Reborn as a Mechanist with a God-Tier System-Chapter 209: The battle of the free folk [8]
[LIVE VIDEO=]
["The Battle of the Free Folk."]
Hundreds of millions of people around the world tuned in to the live video.
Only those in the territories of the Omnicore Federation couldn’t watch it, but the rest of the world didn’t have the same restriction.
The rest of the world was free to watch foreign content and today, on the evening of March 21st Year 583 A.G, the whole world watched the epic battle between the Federation Army and the rebel army of the Freegrid Collective.
People all the way in Leviathan Quay watched the live video ongoing in Iron Reef, people all the way in the North in Nexus Crown in the territory of the Synth Order watched it, and even people in the Wastes watched it.
Hundreds of millions around the world watched it.
The attention of most of the world was already attracted to Iron Reef due to how much Ren Nora deliberately blew up his intention to attempt the C Rank Trial.
At first, when Leon started his Trial and got the briefing from the Trial interface, he couldn’t understand why Ren Nora would go out of his way to broadcast his intentions of challenging the C Rank Trial to the entire world but now, he felt like he partially understood the reason why.
’All of that propaganda was advertisement for this battle?’
Leon was stunned. ’Even with Purgatory, to have the confidence to set up a live video in a battle against an army led by a C Rank Ascended of the Omnicore Federation... just what kind of self-belief will result in a scenario like this?’
This was already beyond confidence, this was arrogant belief.
In that moment, Leon realized. ’Ren Nora has balls of steel!’
And now, with all the advertisement that he did previously, all that attention resulted in avid engagement as hundreds of millions around the world watched the Omnicore Federation fight a losing battle against a ragtag army of rebels.
And it was safe to say that the world was in a state of shock.
For most people in Neo-Tokara, the Omnicore Federation is the symbol of power and tyranny. Their reign was imperious.
The Federation was synonymous with power and dominance, and the Federation Army was widely acknowledged to be the strongest army in the entire world.
You don’t have to like them, heck most of the world hated them, but still majority of the world already learned to live with and accept the cruel reality of the indomitable power of the Federation Army.
For centuries, the Federation Army built a mythical reputation as the indomitables, the King of conquest, the army who never lost a battle.
There were very few things in the world with a more mythical reputation than the Federation Army in the martial Ascended world.
One thing that the world feared more than the mythical Federation Army though was C Rank Ascended.
And yet, here they were, the whole world watching the dreaded Federation Army led by a C Rank Ascended- 2 of the most dreaded things in existence being defeated by an army of ragtag rebels.
If that was not enough to light a flame in a boy’s heart, then what else?
In that moment, across the landmass of Neo-Tokara and in the hearts of hundreds of millions of people- both civilians and Ascended, a flame burned as millions of hearts were set ablaze!
That evening, passion burned hot across the world and for the first time, the fame of the Freegrid Collective truly spread to the ends of the world.
"All hail the Freegrid Collective!"
"All hail Ren Nora!"
"All hail the free folk!"
No one knew who started it but across the world, to the Wastes and back, hundreds of millions of people began chanting in their homes and in public squares as for the first time in centuries, the flames of rebellion burned without fear.
When Ren Nora made his call for help, less than 20 thousand rebels and mercenaries outside Iron Reef responded to his call.
He was grateful for the help that he received, but this number was only so small because of the innate fear of people towards the Federation Army and the innate fear of C Rank Ascended.
After this battle though, the narrative changed.
Leon’s eyes widened. ’This was his plan all along!’
Leon was sure that after this battle, tens of thousands of more rebels if not hundreds of thousands were going to make their way towards Iron Reef to reinforce the city and protect Ren Nora for his Trial.
Leon fell into a daze. ’What the f*ck, Ren Nora is thinking in 4K!’
CRKSH!
He could vividly hear it, the sound of rebellion, the wind of freedom.
In that moment, the mythical reputation that was carefully built through centuries of propaganda and conquest by the Omnicore Federation was shattered.
The myth of the Federation Army ended on the evening of March 21st, Year 583 A.G.
Standing on the roof where he fought and observed the entire battlefield, Leon felt like he finally realized a part of Ren Nora’s plan.
He dared not say he realized the full plan because even with his intelligence, the unconventional thought process of the rebel leader still caught him off guard.
On the roof, his eyes gleamed. ’He wants the whole world to see’.
’He wants the world to see and know that the mythical Federation Army is not as scary as portrayed’.
’He wants them to see that C Rank Ascended may be walking disasters, but even a C Rank Ascended is not enough to bring down Iron Reef’.
Leon’s eyes gleamed in understanding. ’He’s grooming faith and belief!’
...
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
General Sylvari Charr floated in the sky with a livid expression on his face.
Just like Leon, he already noticed the cameras and fully realized Ren Nora’s plan but he couldn’t stop it. He already fell for the trap.
The realization that he was just a stepping stone being used as propaganda by the brat filled him with rage.
And most importantly though, his ADE reserves were finally running low and finally, he became alarmed.
C Rank or not, without ADE, he was vulnerable.
After about 18 minutes of giving his all without being able to turn the tides of the battle, a period of time where he lost more than 20,000 soldiers while the enemy casualty list remained below 4000, General Sylvari Charr finally swallowed his pride and gave the signal to retreat.
WHOOOOOOOOOO!
The Federation Army sounded the retreat horn! 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
On live video, the Federation Army retreated from the ragtag army of rebels in Iron Reef.
Neural Projection!
General Sylvari left the battlefield, entering inside the Flagship Warship again which survived the war but despite currently being away from the cameras, this General couldn’t help it as his face burned in shame.
His dull gray eyes narrowed, twitching in fury as he clenched his fists tightly while neon green ADE crackled around him like static electricity.
He felt like roaring like a mad man to vent his anger but in front of his subordinates, he tried to control his expression and not show too much frustration.
None of his subordinates dared look him in the eye.
And finally, the Flagship retreated.
It was victory for the free folk.
