After spending millions of system points, I upgraded Sofia’s card first, giving her a great bonus to her growth and even a new ability.

[The Bonuses to Growth Speed and Stats have increased from 50% to 60%.]

[Sofia] has developed a new Ability: [Holy Protection Barrier]!]

As this happened, I quickly saw the Nightmaresaurs drawing closer to them and told her to use her new powers.

"Sofia! Use your ability!"

"Huh?!"

Naturally she had no idea what I was even talking about at first, but...

"M-My Ability? What ability are you talking about- Ah!"

Her eyes widened as she suddenly felt something coming from her fingers, blinding magical light that seemed to be slowly taking the shape of something solid.

"ROOAAR!"

As she realized her new Ability was manifesting out of nowhere, one of the Nightmaresaurs was about to attack her, swinging its massive black claws against her!

"Uwaah?!"

As she panicked and pushed her hands upwards while trying to let go of that light, suddenly, a mighty barrier of light magic manifested, glowing with golden, ethereal aura.

CLAAASH!

"GRYACK?!"

The Nightmaresaurs was pushed back due to the barrier’s appearing in front of it, all while its claws shattered into pieces.

"Wait a second, did I do that?! Is this my magic? But I don’t remember ever creating something like this...!" She said. "I don’t think I had the talent for support magic before...! But I made a big barrier, amazing! Maria was right, I think we can do this!"

"ROOOAAARR!"

The other Nightmaresaurs started attacking the girls from every angle, trying to tear through the barrier. Sofia panicked, forming more and more, protecting everyone with them.

"Wow, unlike my barriers, yours are so much tougher, Sofia!" Alma said. "Mine shatter easily as ice, and water can hardly hold back blows this big and strong...! I had no idea Light, which is intangible, could become a barrier this hard..."

"I had no idea either, Alma..." Sofia glared at her while sighing. "Oof, we have to attack them while we have them like this! Try out your abilities! I’ll let them slip through my barriers! We have to do this quickly before the barriers themselves shatter!"

As the girls glanced at one another and decided to move, I saw the rest of the notifications popping up one after another.

Oh yeah, they got so much stronger!

Alright, that’s 60 million System Points gone...

As each Ability was given to them, the girls looked at one another in surprise, feeling something within their hands and auras, the stat boosts were there too, making them stronger.

Ah well, it’s called "stat boosts" even though they technically have no stats, it still applies to the internal structure of their existences which can be qualified as stats to an extent.

After all, just because you don’t have a Strength Stat doesn’t suddenly mean you don’t possess strength in your body, right?

"I can feel something weird within me!"

Emily leaped into the skies, and encased her entire arms with layers of armor, loading lightning within them and punching the nearest monster.

As Sofia stated, her barriers could change their density so friends could pass through them and attack through them easily!

CLASH! CLASH! CLASH! CLASH!

Emily leaped in midair and then punched the Nightmaresaur with a four-horned head several times in the head, blowing away its horns and breaking its scales!

"CRYAAARRGH!"

However, the monster was still alive, roaring angrily and hitting her gauntlets with its entire body, pushing her back.

"Agh! Dammit, those things are so damn tough- Huh?"

However, Emily quickly felt something, her blows not only helped her accumulate electricity within her armor, but something appeared over the monster.

There was something in it, a curse of sorts!

"Wait a second...!"

She felt a black lightning aura from the monster, and then smiled.

"Let’s see...!"

She activated the power with just her will, as the Nigthmaresaur suddenly noticed a thunder-shaped icon above its head and then...

BOOOM!

An explosion of black lightning coursed through his entire body, accumulating damage until the icon disappeared.

"GRRRHHH?!"

The Nightmaresaur was confused and in agony, Emily smiled, leaping forward and punching its head down before kicking it.

"I think I understand my ability, hehehe!"

BAAM! BAAM! BAAM! BAAM!

She attacked not only the Nightmaresaur in front of her but those nearby that tried to attack her, kicking and punching them while releasing explosions of lightning.

Eventually, as they were pushed back but were about to return to her, suddenly, Emily smiled, waving her hand down.

There were now three icons resembling a black thunderbolt over their heads!

"Okay, looks like three is the maximum amount, huh? Go!"

TRUUUM! TRUUUM! TRUUUM!

Out of nowhere, all four Nightmaresaurs she attacked began being electrocuted, explosions of black lightning encompassed their bodies not once, but thrice.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

As they began exploding, more and more internal damage accumulated through their enormous bodies, until...

BAAAM!

Their bodies dropped dead on the floor, all of them unable to take on the cumulative internal damage anymore.

"Not bad! It’s some kind of curse thing I can activate once an icon shows up over a monster’s head! This is so fun!"

As Emily smiled, the Nightmaresaurs started breaking the barriers...

Crack, crack...!
