Chapter 120: Going Through Tribulation (2)

CRACKLE!

The Heavens could no longer suppress their fury. Their golden lightning began to shift—corrupting—twisting into black lightning, saturated with the stench of utter destruction.

The entire Origin Continent was gripped by shock, a collective dread sinking deep into their bones as chills surged down every spine. All cultivators looked skyward, still questioning what had stirred the wrath of the Heavens.

When Drakion saw this, he smiled. He beckoned the bolt of lightning to return, and it did—perching upon his shoulder. It transferred its power—its Law—into Drakion.

Drakion activated the Thunder Law, for he could smell the essence of Law in the Heavens’ strike as well. And that made him smile even more.

His entire body crackled with lightning. Raising his forefinger, arcs of golden electricity danced around it. In that moment, the world seemed to fall silent. It was just him... and the Heavens.

SWOOSH!

The Heavens wasted no time. They unleashed the black lightning—its arrival like galloping warhorses—thunder crashing behind it, surging with unstoppable force.

Drakion responded, unleashing his lightning. Golden arcs burst forth with resolute fury. It felt as if it came from every direction—thunder roared in acknowledgment.

Drakion’s lightning looked deceptively calm, but to the discerning eye, it was terror incarnate.

Both bolts collided. And in that instant, Law clashed with Law. Drakion’s lightning began to take the upper hand, forcing the Heavenly Lightning to falter. Then—consequence struck. Thunder erupted like judgment, and the Heavenly Lightning shattered into nothingness.

But Drakion’s lightning didn’t stop there. It pierced the dark clouds overhead, and a wail resounded.

Yes. Everyone—even the residents of the Origin Continent—heard it: the cry of pain from the Heavenly Dao itself. Shock and confusion seized them.

The dark clouds above Drakion cleared—ripped apart by lightning—but the wrath of Heaven only deepened. Dark clouds gathered once again, now thicker, more violent.

Thunder rolled. Lightning brewed.

Then, a golden light shone through the clouds. The sky parted—something was coming.

And then, it emerged—a head.

But not just any head... a dragon’s head, formed entirely of crackling lightning. Slowly, its colossal body followed, floating in the skies above, its draconic gaze locking onto Drakion. The wrath of Heaven surged within its blazing eyes.

Drakion saw it and smiled, shaking his head.

"You’re really making a mistake by using a dragon as your manifestation," he muttered.

And of course, the Heavens heard. They always hear. Their wrath came in full: countless bolts of lightning rained down, screaming toward Drakion.

Drakion sighed.

The Lightning Dragon stood at the Peak of the Origin Saint Realm.

Was Heaven underestimating him... by choosing a dragon?

What Drakion didn’t know was that a Tribulation’s manifestation could never exceed the realm of the bearer. That was the rule. If it did, it wouldn’t be called a Tribulation.

And if one stood at the peak of a realm, then the next realm would naturally be the manifestation’s strength.

For cultivators watching, Drakion’s Tribulation was hell—especially since they shared his cultivation level.

Drakion watched the incoming lightning.

The bolt on his shoulder surged forward, devouring every strike, consuming them whole—leaving nothing behind.

The Lightning Dragon roared in fury, its voice shaking the sky. It dove, charging toward Drakion—and the devouring bolt.

Drakion glanced at the bolt of lightning.

"I’ll give you a helping hand. Go and devour that dragon."

He’d noticed something: every time the bolt consumed Heavenly Lightning, its intelligence grew.

The bolt of lightning leapt excitedly at his command as Drakion stretched out his hand.

Ding!

[Activating Thunder Dragon Bloodline]

The bolt whizzed, twisting, transforming—until it became a Thunder Dragon. Smaller than its heavenly counterpart, yes, but its aura—its presence—was unmistakable.

Dragon versus Dragon.

Thunder and Lightning versus Thunder and Lightning.

Law versus Law.

Both dragons roared as they struck against one another, clashing in a cataclysmic collision. Their impact shattered the world around them—trees were uprooted, the earth quaked, and the very air turned wrathful.

The dragons unleashed their lightning and thunder, battling with primal force. But slowly—inevitably—Drakion’s Thunder Dragon began to prevail, forcing the Lightning Dragon to retreat, step by step.

Bit by bit, the Lightning Dragon was getting devoured by the Thunder Dragon, until at last, it stood tall and roared—a victorious, dominating cry. It had prevailed.

Drakion nodded at the sight—but the fury of the heavens knew no bounds.

ROAR! ROAR!

Two more draconic roars tore through the sky as two Lightning Dragons descended, lunging at the Thunder Dragon with unrestrained wrath.

Drakion beckoned the Thunder Dragon to return.

"Let me take care of things from here."

He turned to the Lightning Dragons.

"Don’t you know who I am?"

He took a step forward—and the world changed. In that instant, Drakion exuded his cultivation aura, which surged forth and manifested the fearsome form of his Devouring Dragon.

The Lightning Dragons still charged at him.

The Devouring Dragon moved—and in the next moment, they were swallowed whole.

But the Heavens were not done. They released three more dragons.

Drakion stepped forward again—and they too were devoured.

Still, the Heavens refused to relent. More dragons descended.

Drakion frowned—but with every step he took, they were obliterated.

One might wonder—how was Drakion able to do this?

The truth: he was in perfect sync with the environment—with nature itself—wielding the Thunder Law that surged like divine judgment, striking down the Lightning Dragons.

Across the entire Origin Continent, all knew something monumental was unfolding—the Heavens had overstayed their presence, refusing to retreat at the expected time.

The rumble of thunder and crackling of lightning resounded, shaking the sky.

Drakion looked up as he saw the Heavens release an entire army of Lightning Dragons.

He shook his head slowly, his aura rising higher—until suddenly, a bolt of lightning pierced into his body, and his eyes flashed with blinding thunder and lightning.

In that moment, thunder and lightning surged outward like a divine chain, spreading through the atmosphere with destructive elegance.

And then...

Drakion took a step forward.

A/N: "Lightning Dragon" will be used for the dragons related to the Heavens who wield thunder and lightning. As for other dragons—those real and existing—they will also be called Thunder Dragons,
