Reborn as a Devouring Dragon with a System-Chapter 114: Upgrade Of the System, Comprehending the Five-Element Law (1)
Chapter 114: Upgrade Of the System, Comprehending the Five-Element Law (1)
Meanwhile, the others surrounding Drakion looked at him. They could feel a vast aura emanating from him—it wasn’t Draconic.
It felt as though Drakion himself had become the Heavens... delivering judgment.
As for Quin and Drax, who appeared beside Drakion, they were stunned the moment their eyes met his form—
finding what they saw utterly unbelievable.
Drax had noticed this before, during the comprehension of scythe intent: Drakion was comprehending Dao. Not just any Dao—the one that stands above all. Yes, he had already treaded upon the path of Dao. It might appear like a law, but with this law he had comprehended, he could now fight someone wielding Dao.
Quin also noticed this and was just as shaken.
They looked at Drakion—thunder and lightning surrounded him, yet they were calm and ordered. But they knew... that one wrong step would invoke the wrath of Heaven’s judgment.
Suddenly, the pressure disappeared. The thunder and lightning dispersed. Drakion slowly opened his eyes.
"I never thought this was the meaning of thunder and lightning... It turns out they aren’t weapons of destruction, but weapons of order," Drakion thought.
Ding!
[Host has entered Level 50. System undergoing a major upgrade.]
When Drakion heard this, he was stunned. He had never expected the system would begin an upgrade now.
"How many hours is this going to take?" Drakion asked.
Ding!
[Sorry to say this, but it will take days. The system is undergoing a major upgrade, eliminating all existing errors.]
Hearing this, Drakion was baffled. He wondered what changes would come with the new system.
"Then what about the Transmutation into the Azure Dragon?"
Ding!
[That is still possible. While the system will be upgrading, it won’t shut down entirely. The interface will remain accessible, but Host will not be able to access most of the Azure Dragon stats—which is one of the reasons this upgrade is necessary.]
Upon hearing that, Drakion nodded and gave his permission.
Ding!
[Commencing the Upgrade of the System]
[Upgrade will begin in 5...]
[04...]
[03...]
[02...]
[01...]
[System upgrade starting...]
After this, Drakion heard no further voice from the system. He sighed.
After settling the matter, he told Quin that he would return shortly. He had to gather the resources necessary for the Azure Dragon Transmutation.
Within two hours, Drakion had collected all the materials as the system had instructed before its upgrade.
"So, Quin, how do I comprehend the Five-Element Law?" Drakion asked as he returned to the Dragon Palace.
Quin looked at the Drakion standing before him. He would have explained everything directly, but what he witnessed during Drakion’s comprehension of the Thunder Law had changed his mind.
"Dragon Emperor, I will send you somewhere. It’s a pure Five Elemental World. There are regions of pure elemental essence—one each of the five elements. You will have to comprehend the individual elemental laws before you can understand the unified Five-Element Law," Quin said.
"So which region does the Dragon Emperor wish to enter first?" Quin asked.
"Take me to the Fire Region first," Drakion replied.
"Then I wish the Dragon Emperor success," Quin said.
He waved his hand—then collapsed into unconsciousness.
\\\
In a flaming world, the sun was fire.
Drakion had been walking endlessly in this fire world, having no idea where to start. There were numerous things related to fire—creatures, resources—that he felt greedy toward. But Quinn’s words kicked in: not to take anything from this world.
He proceeded to calm his mind as he sat cross-legged.
He closed his eyes. He had no awareness of time, but still he felt nothing.
Yet Drakion had learned one thing in this world—patience.
He didn’t know how many hours, nor how much time had passed,
but suddenly, he felt warmth—
as if the fire were cradling him like a child.
He found himself slowly sinking into this warmth.
And it was then—everything clicked in.
Before anything else, there was warmth.
Not heat.
Not flame.
Just a presence. A whisper.
A single ember resting in the palm of his soul.
Then... breath.
And the ember stirred.
Not wild.
Not ravenous.
It did not demand attention.
It waited—to be known, not commanded.
Drakion didn’t see the Fire Law.
He felt it.
Curling deep within like a memory buried in marrow.
It was not chaos.
It was intimacy.
Fire was not born from destruction.
It was born from longing.
The longing of wood to become ash.
Of flesh to return to dust.
Of darkness to see light again.
It did not burn to consume.
It burned because it remembered what it once was.
And what it could be again.
Fire is hunger—yes.
But not mindless.
It does not devour out of hate.
It transforms.
It turns the old into smoke, the raw into warmth.
It burns not to erase,
but to reveal what lies beneath.
Where lightning was clarity and thunder consequence,
Fire was change.
Relentless.
Necessary.
It could cradle or kill.
Nurture or reduce.
And in every flicker lived the choice between those fates.
Drakion felt it now—not as a beast or blaze.
But as a pulse behind every transformation.
From iron into sword.
From sorrow into resolve.
From soul... into something greater.
He opened his palm.
And though no flame appeared,
the world breathed with him.
Fire was not spectacle.
It was a sacrament.
The quiet prayer behind every dawn.
The silent scream inside every rebirth.
To understand fire... was to understand release.
Of fear.
Of form.
Of what once was.
It did not ask permission.
It simply gave the chance—
To change.
Drakion’s eyes did not glow.
But his presence shifted.
Subtle.
Unmistakable.
As though the world around him had grown... warmer.
Not with heat—
But with potential.
Because fire was never the end.
It was the beginning...
rewritten in ash.
And Drakion...
finally understood.
