Rebirth: The New Bride Wants A Divorce-Chapter 200: Are you sure?
"Now that’s what you call a date," Anna announced, her eyes glittering as she gazed at the towering gates of the amusement park.
Daniel’s lips curved into a smile. He reached for her hand, his fingers brushing hers before he gently guided her inside.
After disappointing her earlier, it had taken him quite some time—and a fair amount of coaxing—to change her mind. He’d practically begged, teased, and stolen enough kisses to wear down her stubbornness. Eventually, she gave in, though she’d never admit how easily his charm disarmed her.
Not to forget—the poor driver was still sitting in the car, sniffling at the sight of the couple flaunting their closeness.
As they stepped through the entrance, Anna’s lips parted in awe. Her eyes darted from one colorful ride to another, her excitement bubbling over.
"I’ve never been to an amusement park before," she confessed, turning her head—only to find Daniel already watching her.
The way his eyes softened when she spoke, the quiet smile tugging at his lips—it made her chest tighten with an unfamiliar warmth.
"What else have you never done?" he asked softly. "Tell me, and I’ll make sure you get everything you ever missed in your life."
Something in his tone made her heart flutter. It wasn’t the playful arrogance she was used to—it was gentler, more sincere. For a moment, Daniel seemed to see right through her, and it startled her just how genuine he sounded.
Anna stilled, her lips parting slightly as disbelief flickered across her face. She hadn’t expected words like that from him—not Daniel, who thrived on teasing and pushing her buttons. But the earnestness in his expression made her wonder if it was finally safe to let him in... to tell him everything about the life she had hidden behind smiles.
"For now," she said softly, squeezing his hand, "just know that I’m looking forward to enjoying my day here."
Her smile reached her eyes, bright and full of life.
Daniel looked down at their joined hands—this simple, fragile connection—and felt something shift inside him.
It was the first time she had willingly held his hand.
And for both of them, the gesture felt surreal—new, yet strangely right. Secure.
When Daniel decided to take a day off, his only plan had been to spend it cuddling his wife—a fact he had teasingly announced over breakfast. But Anna’s sharp refusal had sent his plans crashing.
So, he improvised.
Daniel had never actually been on a real date before—not even with Kathrine. Their interactions had been formal, stiff, and always under the watchful eyes of her parents. But with Anna... things were different. For once, he wanted something genuine, something special.
You’re spared for now, Henry, he mused silently, thinking of his ever-busy assistant. My wife seems happy.
With that thought, he glanced down at Anna beside him as they strolled through the wide-open space of the amusement park. She was taking everything in—the colorful stalls, the lively music, the swirl of laughter around them. Occasionally, she’d gasp or point at a ride like an excited child, and Daniel found himself smiling every single time.
"Hey—is that Anna?" a girl in the crowd whispered, her eyes widening.
Anna froze slightly. Though still new in the industry, she had gained quite a following as a debutant. She had assumed people might not recognize her here—but she was wrong.
"Who’s that man with her?" another asked, squinting toward Daniel’s back.
"Could that be the mystery boyfriend everyone’s been talking about?"
"No way... should we take a picture?"
Before Anna could react, the girl had already pulled out her phone and snapped a few shots—Anna’s face perfectly clear, but Daniel’s remained out of focus.
"Here," Daniel said suddenly, breaking her thoughts. He extended a hand toward her, holding out a mask.
"Huh?" Anna blinked, startled.
"I don’t want anyone recognizing us," he said simply.
"Oh." She quickly took the mask, slipping it over her face. Only then did it hit her—they were both public figures now. Being spotted together could cause a storm neither of them wanted to deal with.
"I can’t believe I forgot about that," she muttered under her breath.
Daniel chuckled quietly. "I don’t mind if they know," he said, his voice low, "but I don’t want them to cause you trouble."
Anna glanced up at him, but he only looked ahead, the corners of his eyes curving in that familiar, unspoken smile.
After last night—after she had thrown him out of the room—Daniel had come to a realization: he should never doubt Anna’s strength. She might not be where she wanted to be yet, but she was determined, capable, and unshakably sure of her worth.
So when he’d decided to take her out today, he’d made sure to bring two masks—just in case. Because while he could handle rumors and chaos, the last thing he wanted was for his wife to get caught in the fire.
But little did Daniel know, the date he’d planned so carefully was about to go viral—just like the time he’d proudly announced to the world that his wife was off the market.
"So," Daniel began, waving the bundle of tickets in his hand with a grin, "what do you want to ride first?"
Anna turned slowly, her eyes scanning the park like a child let loose in a candy store. Bright lights, laughter, and music surrounded them. She tried to decide which ride looked the most fun—or, at the very least, the least deadly.
She’d never been on any amusement park ride before. But she’d seen enough movies to know how it usually went: couples screaming together, holding hands, the guy pretending to be brave while secretly turning pale halfway through.
Would Daniel be like that too? she wondered, stealing a side glance at him.
Finally, she pointed ahead. "That one."
Daniel followed her gaze—and blinked. "The roller coaster?"
Anna nodded, smiling proudly.
"Are you sure you want to start with that?" he asked, his voice half-concerned, half-amused. "It’s not exactly gentle."
Her answer came with a smirk. "Why? Are you scared, Daniel?"
That did it. Daniel turned to face her fully, one brow arched, his lips curving into that dangerous smirk that made her heartbeat quicken.
Anna stood tall, arms folded, eyes sparkling with mischief—like she was daring him to back down.
"Scared?" he echoed, taking a deliberate step closer. "You think I’m scared?"
She only shrugged, feigning innocence. "You hesitated."
He chuckled lowly, shaking his head. "You have no idea what you’ve just started, Mrs. Clafford."
"Let’s go," he said finally, grabbing her hand in one swift motion. "A roller coaster it is."
And before Anna could protest—or gloat—he was already dragging her toward the ride, his fingers firmly laced with hers.
Minutes later, the park was filled with the sound of people screaming their lungs out—
and right in the middle of it all came one particularly sharp voice:
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
