Rebirth: The Ascent of a Socialite-Chapter 680 - 278: Su Ziceng’s Will
Namibia, like South Africa, is a major diamond-producing country in Africa, but over the years, diamonds haven’t brought much wealth to the local residents. On the contrary, large-scale conflicts, diseases, and poverty occur frequently in the area.
Unlike South Africa which boasts a multiracial population with various skin colors, Namibia is predominantly inhabited by black natives. Su Ziceng was pushed and stuffed into an army green truck covered with a thick tarpaulin. After regaining her composure, she realized the fact that she had been kidnapped.
Although the roads in Africa are not good, due to the abundance of plains and plateaus, the driving is relatively smooth. However, rainfall is scarce, which causes the rapidly speeding wheels to kick up thick clouds of dust.
During the jolting journey, Su Ziceng was always tied up, her mouth was gagged, and she could only faintly sense the light inside the truck through her eyes. Relying on her sense of smell, she could discern that the truck might be carrying medical supplies. Moreover, it was likely from a special organization because apart from the smell of gasoline that occasionally arose during refueling, the vehicle didn’t stop too often.
The people treating Su Ziceng were relatively decent – they did not allow her to move freely but at other times, someone would climb into the truck and bring her some food and water. Su Ziceng couldn’t understand why this group of kidnappers, comprised of both black and white individuals, had taken her to this place? She didn’t carry anything valuable with her due to traveling – all her money was left on her bank cards, and the wallet containing a few thousand US dollars she carried with her hadn’t been taken. This all suggested that these people weren’t after her money; they had only taken her mobile phone.
After about a week of travel, the vehicle finally stopped. Su Ziceng was pushed down from the truck and found herself near a river valley, to be precise, a dried-up valley.
"Who exactly are you?" Su Ziceng asked loudly as soon as she was released.
The men did not answer, and then a black woman came out, uttered a few simple English words, and gestured for Su Ziceng to follow her.
Su Ziceng thought that it’d be better to stay with a woman than men – perhaps she could take advantage of a woman’s lapse to escape.
Soon, Su Ziceng realized that she was wrong – she was merely transferred from the hands of those men to a group of women. These African-born women spoke loudly and briskly. When Su Ziceng couldn’t understand their language, they simply twisted her arm and, ignoring her protests, took her into several tidied-up shacks beside the valley.
Based on Su Ziceng’s observation, this place was an abandoned mining site. She didn’t know why these people were so unfriendly to her. Everyone, including the group of women who watched her over the next few days, was quite hostile towards her. Nevertheless, they still provided her with food and water and did not insult or interrogate her.
This calmed Su Ziceng down. She comforted herself, thinking that in her past life, she had already experienced a kidnapping, which later on Hang Yishao took the blame for. Now it seems that the phrase "Misfortune may be an actual blessing" was indeed correct.
Su Ziceng didn’t expect to be imprisoned for such a long time; three months had passed in a blink of an eye. During this time, the looks the people gave her became increasingly strange, and the women treated her even more rudely. The daily rations of food and water were diminishing. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Su Ziceng, secluded in the remote valley, was unaware that in these three months, several people were almost driven to madness.
On the night Pello was preparing to head to Namibia, the letter he received confirmed that Su Ziceng had indeed been kidnapped. The kidnappers, however, were not from the Munsen Family’s local competitors, but a group of mine workers from Namibia.
The letter succinctly stated that Pello had one month to return the colorful diamonds stolen from Namibia years back.
If Denis’s pleading had already made Pello doubt the source of Mussen Jewelry’s diamonds, then this letter unquestionably made Pello even more convinced of one thing.
The colorful diamonds had been processed into Mussen’s Blessing, meaning Pello must collect all pieces of "Mussen’s Blessing" within a month. He had only two pieces of Mussen’s Blessing, Blue Love and Green Love. He had already given Red Love to Ziceng, while a few others were within Yan Wuxu and Qiu Zhi’s possession.
