Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s-Chapter 1625 - 1627: The Gossiping Big Master
Chapter 1625: Chapter 1627: The Gossiping Big Master
Chiang Xiao hung up the phone and quickly called Meng Xinian, but the call went unanswered.
Seems like he really is busy.
Fortunately, when she returned to school the next day, she received several letters.
"You’ve been gone so long, the letters have piled up. I kept them safe for you—didn’t lose a single one. Oh, and the day you left, your uncle came looking for you. Said he brought some things for you and left them in your dorm." The gatekeeper greeted Chiang Xiao with a stream of chatter as soon as he saw her.
"My uncle?" Chiang Xiao felt a jolt in her heart.
The gatekeeper nodded and said, "Yeah, that’s right. The day you left, he came right after, but couldn’t catch up with you. Oh, it was those two girls from your dorm who took him to your room."
The gatekeeper didn’t usually talk this much, but his impression of Chiang Xiao was deeply ingrained.
As he spoke, he pulled out the visitor logbook, flipped to the entry for that day, and handed it to Chiang Xiao.
Chiang Xiao took the log and immediately spotted the entry.
Her pupils contracted slightly.
Deng Qingjiang.
Deng Qingjiang had actually come. He had appeared.
The hatred from her previous life surged up in that moment, making her eyes glint with a sharp edge.
She lowered her gaze, ensuring the gatekeeper wouldn’t catch sight of her expression.
"Big Master, do you know which two girls from my dorm took him there?"
"I don’t remember their names, oh, but one of them was the girl you fought with in the cafeteria on the first day you arrived." The gatekeeper added, gossiping casually, "You two made up? You young ladies, fighting and squabbling over petty things..."
He didn’t recall Ye Wanqing’s name, but he knew the person who had clashed with Chiang Xiao on her first day was indeed her.
Ye Wanqing.
At that moment, Chiang Xiao felt an odd urge to laugh.
Especially after she carefully questioned further about what happened that day and learned that Ye Wanqing had proactively introduced herself to Deng Qingjiang. It made her think that the saying, "Personality determines destiny," had some truth to it.
Her own personality had changed in this life, leading to a new destiny, but Ye Wanqing hadn’t changed. So, naturally, she would still gravitate toward Deng Qingjiang.
Good, very good.
Wasn’t this exactly what she wanted?
Those two—weren’t they supposed to be entangled in this life as well?
She wished them deep affection and a lifetime without separation. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
Now that Deng Qingjiang had shown up, shouldn’t she start preparing for the confrontation?
For a moment, Chiang Xiao felt her pulse quicken.
It felt as if she had arrived at a crucial crossroads. The difference was, she already knew which paths were dead ends, while her opponent remained unaware.
She could hardly wait to head back to the dormitory to see Ye Wanqing.
But first, she had to attend class.
After spending half a month in Shitou Town together, the class shared a stronger sense of camaraderie, with more common topics and shared experiences.
When Chiang Xiao entered the classroom, everyone greeted her.
"Hey, Chiang Xiao, cutting it close, aren’t you?" someone teased as she walked in just as the bell rang.
"Teacher Liu is cutting it even closer." Jin Lei laughed aloud, as Chiang Xiao hadn’t even sat down before Liu Guoying walked in behind her.
"Very lively." Liu Guoying scanned the classroom and glanced briefly at Chiang Xiao before addressing the class: "For your assignments, each of you must complete three landscape sketches of Shitou Town this week. Listen carefully: you can’t draw anything that’s already been done by someone else."
"What?"
The whole class groaned in protest.
Shitou Town wasn’t that big, and the most striking spots were fairly limited. How were they supposed to avoid overlapping?
Chiang Xiao, however, simply curled her lips into a small smile.
