Chapter 905 -879 Father and Son Bonding, Had a Premonition
“We’ve got a holiday today, and Arlong has to take an exam, right? Came back to give him a boost,” Mario Yuno said as soon as he arrived at his mother-in-law’s, acting all innocent and mild.
“Sis! Brother-in-law!” Arlong emerged from the bedroom, looking thoroughly miserable.
He had hoped to gain his older sister’s sympathy, but all he got was Kiara’s disdainful look.
“I asked you to stay home, review your materials, relax, and get into the right mindset for the exam. How did you manage to get both fatter and dumber? Mom, did you feed him fattening feed? His brain was already not working well, and now that he’s eaten so much he’s fat, his head will turn even more into mush during the exam.”
Underpants!
This bolt from the blue struck Arlong, and he felt extremely wronged.
“Old sis! I’ve only gained less than 10 pounds, do you have to be so vicious? And look at my height, nearly 180 cm, isn’t eating a bit just nourishing my body?”
“A height of 180, a weight of 180, with your height and weight, you’re almost catching up with Doraemon, and coupled with that IQ, I really worry about your future marital prospects.”
Kiara did not hold back when teasing her own brother, hitting him where it hurt the most.
“Tsk tsk tsk! You can’t say such unlucky things!” Kiara’s mother spat several times on the floor superstitiously.
Robert Johnson ‘Father’ came over to greet Kiara and Mario Yuno in a gentle manner.
“You must be exhausted. Come in and lie down for a while, your mother and I will get started on the cooking.”
“Uncle Liao Walker, you’ve put on weight too,” Kiara observed objectively.
It seemed that Mum had been nourishing Draco Clark the Extravagant quite a bit these days; everyone in the family was getting a glossy shine on their faces.
“Ha ha! Your mother’s cooking skills are excellent, and my living standard has gone up too. Today, she’ll show off her skills for you kids,” Robert Johnson ‘Father’ said, inviting the two kids to sit down, thinking of helping Kiara’s mother in the kitchen.
Spouse had been busy since early morning, knowing her daughter was coming back, and she had been preparing so many delicious things that she wasn’t finished yet.

“Show off what? What does she have that I should reward her for? All day long she only knows how to chase after money, not caring for the family, she can’t even cook instant noodles properly. This dolt, you’re practically falling to pieces because of her!” Kiara’s mother tapped Kiara’s forehead with her finger. Though she was scolding her, her words were filled with affection.
“Right! Falling to pieces!” Arlong, having been teasingly criticized by his sister for gaining weight, joined in the teasing.
“Even if I were shattered into eight pieces, any one eighth of me would still be better than you. Want me to school you, huh? Give you a pre-College Entrance Exam devilish training session?”
“Drop it! Don’t stress me out!”
Just thinking about the exam gave Arlong a headache.
He hadn’t skimped on the supplements, nor had he missed out on gaining weight. Maybe he had put on so much weight that some of the knowledge was squeezed out of his brain. He felt as if during this prep time, he had almost forgotten everything he learned last term…
“Will you two ever stop? Always bickering as soon as you see each other!” Kiara’s mother nudged Arlong with her foot and then gently tapped Kiara’s head with her finger as a gesture.
Arlong pouted, “Are you being extremely biased? Is she your biological daughter and I’m not?”
Why did he get kicked when his sister just got a light tap on the head as punishment? It was clearly her who started it!
“If you could catch up to even one eighth of your sister, I wouldn’t bear to kick you either. I’m just trying to kick some sense into your head so you can perform well tomorrow! Mario Yuno, sit here and rest for a bit, or you can lie down in Kiara’s room to unwind. I’ll call you when it’s time to eat.”
“No need, Mum, let me help you instead.”
“No, everyone, stop coming in, Mr. Roy, you too. Just a few more dishes to stir fry, I’ve cut everything up already. When Jade and the others come over, I’ll just toss it in the pan and it’ll be fine; the rest of the dishes are all ready.”
Overhearing that there were outsiders present, Kiara frowned in displeasure.
“You invited them over for dinner?”
“What else could I have done? They came all this distance to see us. Isn’t it only proper not to hog all the food and just eat to our hearts’ content by ourselves?”
“You didn’t invite people to our house, to stay in my room, did you?” This was Kiara’s greatest taboo.
Call her finicky or say she has a germophobia, but her bed was definitely not for just anyone to sleep in. She had emphasized this to Kiara’s mother before: no matter who it was, under no circumstances should a stranger sleep in her room when visiting.
“Look at you guarding your territory! Would I dare let someone sleep in your bed? Besides, your Mr. Jade works at the bank, he has a proper job and is very particular. When they were going to stay at our home, they saw it was too small and ended up at your uncle’s—”
“You sent them to Uncle’s?”
Kiara and her family had already cut ties with Uncle’s family long ago; during the dispute over the Elder’s inheritance, Uncle’s family had not hesitated to play dirty against Kiara’s mother. Without Mario and Kiara holding down the fort, Kiara’s mother would have been bullied to death.
“What are you yelling for! I didn’t reach out to Uncle myself, they went there on their own. At first, they didn’t even want to tell me, saying they were staying in a hotel outside. Later on, it slipped out of Mr. Jade’s daughter-in-law’s mouth, and that’s how I found out. Don’t overthink it, we don’t speak to Uncle’s family, but Jade and they are still relatives.”
“Anyone willing to live with someone like Uncle is probably no good either,” Arlong commented, as even though he had been quite young at the time, he understood that his mother and sister had been bullied.
“I’m going to kick you!” Kiara’s mother tried to kick Arlong—this brat shouldn’t be so brazenly judging relatives in front of his brother-in-law. It was just not proper.
“Alright, alright, the child still has exams to take, don’t hurt him,” Robert Johnson ‘Father’ hurriedly stepped in to play peacemaker, and Kiara’s mother scolded Arlong before heading into the kitchen.
In Kiara’s eyes, her younger Extravagant brother, who was putting on weight, wasn’t wrong in what he said.
Birds of a feather flock together.
However, there was something that surprised her: her mother had only mentioned that Mr. Jade was a relative from within the village, but how had he suddenly become a bank employee?
Before she came, she had been pondering this matter, thinking that Mr. Jade would have a traditional agrarian image, not expecting him to have a formal job.
It seemed there were many things she didn’t know about.
“Draco Clark, come into my room with me, I want to see how well you’ve been reviewing.”
“No… please, Kiara, spare me. I’ve already resigned myself to possibly flunking,” Draco protested.
“Look at that ambition!” Kiara glared at him, and Draco, not daring to defy the woman whose words carried the most weight in the family, obediently followed Kiara into the room.
Mario sat on the sofa, casually chatting with Robert Johnson ‘Father’, discussing some current domestic news, along with some trivial household matters.
After chatting for a few minutes, Robert Johnson ‘Father’ glanced at the kitchen where Kiara’s mother was busy cooking, with the range hood roaring loudly.
Robert Johnson ‘Father’ lowered his voice, “Johnny’s okay out there, isn’t he?”
Like father like son, Kiara could tell right away that Giorno was in trouble; how could his father not feel anything? Even though Giorno had sounded like nothing was wrong when he called, Robert Johnson ‘Father’ realized that if his son weren’t dealing with something unavoidable, why would he have neglected his work?
It was no surprise to Mario that he knew—after all, it would be strange if a Dean did not have even that much sense.
