Rebirth: My Dear Little Wife Is So Scheming-Chapter 1272: Three Years Later
The phone rang, interrupting Qi Yuqingβs memories.
She picked up the phone.
"Mom!"
"Iβm about to go to work, can you be quick? I donβt have time." ππ»πππππ«π£π€πππ΅.ππ€π’
The voice on the other end was her motherβs, making her furrow her brows deeply.
This was like a death call.
Her mother was urging her to marry again.
"Qingqing, Iβve arranged for you to meet Auntieβs son, Lu Kai, after work today. He just returned from studying in America, three years older than you, perfect age, 1.85 meters tall, and the CEO of a listed company. Heβs been too busy with his career to focus on relationships all these years.
You two would be perfect for each other. After work this afternoon, at 7 PM, at the fifth table in the Kayue Western Restaurant. You have to be there, or your dad and I will come over immediately."
Qi Yuqing smiled bitterly, this was a threat.
"Alright, Mom! I got it, Iβll go, okay?"
This wasnβt the first time.
Itβs just a blind date. If she couldnβt handle even this, then she wouldnβt be Qi Yuqing.
"Good! Qingqing, you canβt keep delaying. If this continues, youβll only find a divorced man in the future. Donβt worry your parents, okay? Who are we doing this for? Itβs all for your own good!
If you settle down early, we can be at ease, knowing youβre working alone in the Capital City! With no one to care for you! How can your dad and I be at ease?"
Qiβs mother started earnestly pleading.
Qi Yuqing moved the receiver away from her ear, "Mom, I have surgery to perform, canβt talk now, bye!"
Then, before her mom could say anything, she quickly hung up the phone.
This is stressful.
Qiβs mother was angry, staring at the phone. Every time it came to this, the child had the same attitude, which truly made her heart ache.
Since splitting up with Bai Song three years ago, the child had fallen seriously ill when she came back, then shut herself in her room for three days and nights and never mentioned that Bai Song again.
But, as parents, how could they not know the child had a wound in her heart?
They didnβt know what Bai Song had said to Qi Yuqing.
Nor did they understand how the two ended things.
They thought these wounds could heal with time.
The problem is, itβs been three years.
This child no longer wants to be with anyone.
It made them so anxious their hair was falling out.
So, there were countless blind dates.
Just hoping the child would suddenly meet someone she liked and suddenly come around.
Unfortunately, Qi Yuqing seemed to have tightly shut the door to her heart.
She was almost thirty.
If she didnβt marry soon, sheβd truly be an old maid.
How could Qiβs father and mother not be anxious?
Sometimes, they awoke in the middle of the night, tossing and turning, unable to sleep, and felt a bit of regret.
Had they known, they would have let Bai Song and Qi Yuqing be together.
Heβs just a cop.
Problems could be solved together, wouldnβt that be better?
Itβs better than the child being thoroughly heartbroken and not even planning to marry.
Heaven knows, this isnβt a sin.
The motherβs feelings were most complicated for the first time.
Qi Yuqing doesnβt know.
And would never know.
After all, she continues doing her own thing.
At this moment, Qiβs mother truly felt remorse.
In her casual way of speaking, she couldnβt even see that Qi Yuqing was just putting her on.
Even if she went, it would probably be for nothing.
She really wished she could hit herself.
Why couldnβt she see Bai Song?
Just because heβs a cop doesnβt necessarily mean heβll die in the line of duty, and being a cop doesnβt necessarily mean heβll put his family in danger, even if heβs a cop, he can protect his family.
What exactly did she do?
Qi Yuqing worked all day, only after getting off work did she suddenly remember that a blind date was waiting for her at the western restaurant.
Looking at the time, there was half an hour left, not bad, at least she wouldnβt be late.
Itβs not that she valued this meeting very much!
Itβs just that sheβs not used to making people wait.
Itβs a personal issue.
Even if she doesnβt like the person, she wouldnβt deliberately make him wait.
As soon as she walked into the western restaurant, a waiter asked if she had a reservation.
Upon hearing she did, the waiter led her to the table.
A man was already sitting there.
He indeed looked mature and steady.
And quite attractive, looking just like an industry elite.
When he saw her, he immediately stood up.
There was a gentle smile on his face, and an indescribable look of anticipation.
"Qi Yuqing, hello, Iβm Lu Kai!"
He extended his hand, stubbornly waiting for her response.
Qi Yuqing gently shook his hand and then let go.
Perhaps because of her profession as a doctor, she was increasingly averse to physical contact.
With a sarcastic chuckle, she thought she might have developed a phobia.
She hasnβt become anything important, yet her quirks are piling up.
"Hello! Iβm Qi Yuqing."
They both sat down.
Lu Kai looked at Qi Yuqing graciously, the corners of his mouth holding a smile, his demeanor making Qi Yuqing feel strange and indescribably odd.
"Actually, I know you, but you donβt know me!"
Lu Kai saw the surprised look on the girlβs face he admired, and laughed suddenly, knowing this girl wouldnβt notice other men.
"When? I really have no impression! Sorry, my memory is terrible, Iβm face blind."
Qi Yuqing felt awkward.
He knows her! Yet she has no recollection of him.
"I knew you wouldnβt remember, we used to live in the same courtyard! My family lived right below yours.
Every time you went to school, youβd run into me, but most of the time you wouldnβt even look at me, just ran off with your friends. You had a lot of friends then, all went to school together, thatβs why it was memorable for me."
Qi Yuqing suddenly remembered that indeed, there was something like that.
There really was a big boy living downstairs, she had run into him a few times, but never greeted him because he didnβt live there long, only two or three years before moving.
She did have that impression.
But she couldnβt remember the boyβs face.
She didnβt expect it to be Lu Kai.
"Itβs you, I really didnβt expect weβd meet like this. Back then, I only knew how to play around, not caring about anything."
Since they were acquaintances, the atmosphere relaxed immediately.
They shared a grand meal, and Qi Yuqing insisted not to let Lu Kai pay, opting for a split bill instead.
During the meal, someone called her phone, an unfamiliar number, but she didnβt pay it any mind.
Advertising these days is annoying.
After dinner, Lu Kai and she left.
As they walked out of the restaurant, Lu Kai, behind her, called out to Qi Yuqing.
"It was nice meeting you today. I think we could continue seeing each other."
Lu Kai seemed a bit nervous.
"Itβs my first time dating someone of the opposite sex, I donβt really know what to do. If Iβm doing something wrong, you can tell me and Iβll try my best."
This was the most formal confession.
Qi Yuqing frowned.
Looking at the man in front of her, "Lu Kai, youβre really great! But Iβm not ready to start a relationship! Nor do I have plans for marriage, all of this is my parentsβ doing, do you understand?"
She didnβt want to give anyone a false impression and ambiguously lead them on.
Even though Lu Kai in front of her was indeed nice.
That doesnβt mean sheβs changed her mind.
