Rebirth: Leading Families to Survive in the Apocalypse-Chapter 726: Spending the Night Outdoors
Chapter 726: Chapter 726: Spending the Night Outdoors
In the end, Su Xiangzhe and Lu Guanhai also stayed in the vehicle while Lu Hao and Lin Xiuyuan took Qiao and others to conduct the inspection.
"Su Jin, you stay here and rest well,"
Avril said with concern.
She had only just learned that Su Jin was pregnant. To be honest, being pregnant in the Apocalypse was already hard enough, and yet she was still accompanying them on missions.
"Thank you,"
Su Jin said with a smile and nodded.
Hanson’s Team still hadn’t come in; Mao Qiqi said they had been waiting outside the whole time without moving an inch.
"What a bunch of oddballs. Xiao Jin, just go rest. We have so many people here to keep watch for you,"
Lu Guanhai spoke from behind the vehicle.
They had tacitly decided to stay behind just to keep watch for Su Jin, allowing her the chance to enter her Space and rest a while. If the inspection took an hour, Su Jin could get 10 hours of sleep in her Space.
"Alright, I’ll go in then. Call me immediately if anything comes up,"
Su Jin was not one to put on airs. She truly needed to rest; pregnant and not pregnant were two very different physical states, and she felt as if her brain had been issuing her commands to rest repeatedly.
Only after Su Jin disappeared from her spot did the three people inside the vehicle feel relieved. They were worried that she wouldn’t agree to go in. frёewebηovel.cѳm
Lin Tianhui, who had returned from work, saw Su Jin enter the Space alone looking tired and thought something had happened.
"It’s nothing, Mom. I’m just tired from sitting too long. I’m going to rest now. If someone comes later to call me out, make sure you wake me up,"
Su Jin said as she walked towards the side courtyard without looking back.
"...This child,"
Lin Tianhui shook her head but still went to the kitchen to prepare some cake and warm milk to take to Su Jin.
However, when she entered Su Jin’s bedroom, she found that Su Jin had already fallen into a deep sleep. So, Lin Tianhui simply left the food on the table; the warm milk wouldn’t cool down in the Space, and Su Jin could drink it when she woke up...
Lin Xiuyuan, holding Mao Qiqi’s hand, followed the others as they inspected the mission while also visiting this so-called Zombie Nest.
The Mutated Moss had already receded quietly, but Lin Xiuyuan felt that the moss’s color had lightened again.
"Is that so? Maybe it’s getting closer to Little Cui’s color,"
Mao Qiqi said, having seen the Little Cui in Su Jin’s palm, which is why she speculated as such.
"So, does Mutated Moss also eat Zombie Cockroaches, like the Man-eating Flower? That would explain it,"
Lin Xiuyuan muttered, stroking his chin.
The food for today’s task inspection was provided by Morris. He brought out a large section of Mutated Crocodile meat, which had already been skinned. Probably because it had been kept for two days, the meat was giving off a strong, fishy smell.
"I still miss Su Jin’s Mutated Goose. I can’t stand this smell,"
Avril said, covering her nose and moving to a spot a bit farther away.
"This is all I have in my Space,"
Morris said helplessly. They had bought it with Crystal Cores.
The task inspection went smoothly; not a single Zombie Cockroach appeared again. However, they now faced a troublesome matter.
They had to spend the night outdoors.
"The vehicle is the safest place, completely sealed,"
Paul said.
"Oh no, I’d rather lie on the ground,"
David thought spending the night in the vehicle was too uncomfortable; he had been driving all day.
"Not far from here, there are a few empty roadside houses, and there are fewer zombies around. We could stay there,"
Qiao suggested.
"We don’t mind, either place is fine,"
Lu Hao said.
"That won’t do. Su Jin needs to rest well. We still need to find a comfortable place,"
Avril retorted.
In the end, everyone decided to go to the empty rooms Qiao had mentioned.
On their way back, Avril noticed Su Jin greeting them cheerfully from the car.
"Rested well?"
Lu Hao asked with a smile.
"Yes, I did,"
Su Jin stretched and yawned. She had just slept for more than eight hours in the Space and woke up naturally. After seeing the cake and milk on the table, she enjoyed a good meal. Now, not only her physical strength, but her Special Ability was fully recovered too.
"Oh dear Su Jin, you are truly amazing,"
Abby said with moved eyes.
"It’s okay, you get used to it,"
Su Jin said with a smile.
When Hanson’s Team saw the minibus returning from the village unscathed, they understood what had happened.
"Zombie Cockroach Nest, dealt with,"
Bruno murmured.
"Hey, we’re going to find a place to stay for the night, just ahead. Are you coming?"
David called out from the rolled-down window of the car.
"Let’s follow them,"
Hanson said reluctantly, remembering what Xius had instructed them. After all, their mission these past days was to stick with this group, wasn’t it?
Seeing the SUV didn’t respond to their words but just quietly followed behind, David rolled his eyes too.
So why did these people want to come with them?
The empty rooms Qiao mentioned were indeed just that, a few side-by-side bungalows by the road that looked like small shops in their previous life, but now were stripped bare.
After clearing out the zombies in the vicinity, Lin Cheng also used his Earth Element Ability to surround the bungalows with a wall, providing at least a chance to react should any zombies or animals appear.
Su Jin also covered the interior of each room with Mutated Moss, ensuring cleanliness before allowing everyone to bring their belongings in.
"I’ll promote the growth of Mutated Moss around us to prevent Zombie Cockroaches. We only need one person to keep watch at night,"
Su Jin said.
Seeing Hanson’s Team choose another bungalow further away from them, the group didn’t say anything. Being too close would make it uncomfortable.
Next, Su Jin took various pots, pans, and stoves out of the Space and started directing the members of Heart Talk Team to prepare dinner.
"Is this really so complete? Even a stove?"
Morris said enviously. His Space was cluttered with odds and ends, but few useful items, whereas Su Jin’s supplies were orderly, and she even took out some seeds, sprouting fresh green vegetables in front of everyone.
"If you don’t mind, join us, and try our Huaxia convenience meal,"
Su Jin said with a smile.
"Of course, we don’t mind, if you don’t either,"
Jerome’s words made everyone laugh. Su Jin generously brought out a bowl of sliced meat and asked Su Xiangzhe to help put it in a pot to start cooking, adding various seasonings to the pot as it cooked.
Abby curiously squatted beside her, sniffed at the seasoning jar, and suddenly wrinkled her nose: "What’s that smell? It’s so pungent. Can this be delicious?"
"It’s delicious. This is a seasoning called Star Anise from our Huaxia. When stewed with Mutated Goose, it will be very fragrant,"
Su Jin explained. She didn’t just use Star Anise; there were bay leaves and cinnamon too. She planned to make a stewed goose dish for everyone to share, using a large pressure cooker, which shouldn’t take too long.
