Chapter 546: Chapter 429: Husband and Wife Reporting In

After completing the enrollment procedures, the couple thanked the department head and said goodbye before following the young counselor to their dormitory.

Pushing the cart, the two listened to the counselor explaining the buildings along the way.

As Zhang Guoqing interacted with the counselor, Zhou Jiao quickly analyzed the information. This Counselor Wu with the surname Wu was their senior who had stayed at the school and was now a lecturer.

The dormitory assigned to her and her husband wasn’t far from his residence. This area predominantly housed single teachers, graduate students, and some student dormitories.

Just as Counselor Wu took out the key, a few people ran over from afar, shouting for Xiao Wu.

Zhang Guoqing had anticipated meeting acquaintances, but didn’t expect it to happen so soon. Apparently this guy belonged to the student category as well, making Zhang Guoqing laugh heartily.

"When did you guys come back to Beijing? How come I didn’t get any notice? We thought you wouldn’t return for another week. Why didn’t you contact me when you came to the school?"

The person who came was Wan Dayong, a buddy from the big courtyard who had just entered the university last year. Besides him, there were three unfamiliar male students.

"We arrived last night and haven’t had the chance to find you all. We truly didn’t know you were on campus. Where are you headed?" Zhang Guoqing smiled and nodded to the people around him.

Wan Dayong happily stepped forward and hugged him, "Come on, let me introduce you. This is my good buddy Zhang Guoqing I’ve talked about. This is the precious darling of our courtyard, his wife Zhou Jiao. How about it?"

After speaking, he winked at the others.

Zhou Jiao didn’t need to think to know that this guy probably hadn’t said anything good about her and her husband. She smiled and nodded at the others.

"This is Zhang Lichang, Cheng Yige, and Wang Dacheng. The three of them live on the left side of our courtyard. Teacher Wu, why don’t you show them the dormitory first? Come on, let’s chat inside."

Zhang Guoqing smiled apologetically at Counselor Wu.

"Xiao Wu, several of us from the courtyard live on the second floor of this building. It’s quite lively right now. I live in 206 on the second floor, just come find me directly if you need anything."

Zhang Guoqing was pushed forward by him, feeling relieved upon confirming they were all in this building. He didn’t voice it though, they weren’t curious about him and his wife’s move-in, probably had anticipated it.

Entering the hallway, everything in view reminded Zhang Guoqing of his elder sister’s apartment building, but better as it lacked cooking smoke.

On the third floor, third door to the left, with a 303 sign at the door, this was their single dormitory. Upon opening, it was indeed a double room like Wan Dayong and the others.

Inside there were two single beds, a desk placed by the window. The lighting was bright, and the view outside was beautiful through the window.

This condition already satisfied Zhou Jiao greatly. On campus, there was a canteen, bathhouse, post office, service center, life facilities were complete.

"About the same as ours, tidy up later. Xiao Wu, why isn’t your wife at the neighboring university? All the girls are over there." Wan Dayong circled around the room, nodded theatrically.

Zhang Guoqing couldn’t bother to respond to Wan Dayong’s question. He was busy exchanging keys with Counselor Wu and consulting about school activities.

Beside him, Zhou Jiao laughed, "The university next door didn’t want me, so I can only hang out with you guys."

"Stop joking. As if they wouldn’t want you, we know your glorious deeds."

"Wan Ge, tell us what deeds."

Wan Dayong laughed and waved his hand, "Just kidding. You really took it seriously?" Some things were told by his dad, related to their big courtyard, not for outsiders.

Seeing Zhang Guoqing was done, he quickly said, "Let’s go, I’ll treat you two to a meal at the canteen."

"No need, old bachelor, I still have to go home to take care of the child. Just keep meal tickets for when school starts." Zhang Guoqing politely declined, all being so familiar, too much politeness wasn’t necessary.

"You’re just showing off, always boasting about having a son. See what happens when you’re busy and can’t see the kid."

Zhang Guoqing made sure everything was in place, put away the keys, and sent off the enthusiastic Counselor Wu. Turning around, he happened to hear, smiled at him and raised a fist.

Wan Dayong upon seeing this, laughed heartily and punched him lightly.

After some playful wrestling, Zhang Guoqing chatted casually with a few of them before leaving with Zhou Jiao.

Walking around campus, the couple couldn’t spare time to admire the scenery, besides the daycare still needing arrangements after school starts, the surroundings needed to be explored.

From the small train station to the bus stop, from the town to the city. Zhang Guoqing and Zhou Jiao finally set aside the last of their worries, glad for the convenient transportation, making travel between two places manageable.

Zhou Jiao sat on the back seat, a gentle breeze blew by, comfortably closing her eyes, hearing his singing beside her. Opening her eyes to view the surrounding paddy fields, wild grass on riverbanks, she hummed along with his tune.

Over at the daycare, Old Mrs. Cheng took Ping’an there early. Though called a daycare, the one in the big courtyard was sizable. An independent large courtyard, outside with many children’s play facilities. Inside it caters to childcare from newborns to children five or six years old.

The old lady had Aunt Chen carry Ping’an in with her to the director’s office, specifically requesting assigning the child to the two-year-old class. After registering, she took Ping’an to meet the teacher and little friends in the classroom.

Initially worried Ping’an wouldn’t want to stay here, she saw him, like a little adult, walk with confident steps saying goodbye, amusing the old lady and others with laughter.

Once she left, she couldn’t help but stay at the office until noon.

Several people’s hearts were concerned about the child’s life at daycare. During lunch, Zhou Xiaozheng and Lin Lishan hurried over after work, discreetly standing outside the classroom.

Inside, over twenty children aged two to three were seated in a circle, two nannies with cafeteria staff serving meals. Shortly, Ping’an squeezed dominantly into the first row, turned to find them outside, smiling and waving.

This performance made Old Mrs. Cheng and Lin Lishan laugh heartily.

Zhou Xiaozheng saw the nannies were attentive to the children, satisfactorily nodded, and inspected the next-door naproom, dismissively gazing at the bedding.

He glanced again at Director Zhao’s tense face, helplessly signaling to the old lady.

Old Mrs. Cheng stifled her laughter, puzzled why so many feared her nephew, "Old Zhao, should our child join the kindergarten class?"

Old Zhao glanced at Zhou Xiaozheng, shook his head, "These two nannies are the most diligent, don’t change. Let the child stay for a while, if uncomfortable, we can discuss then, alright?"

Zhou Xiaozheng nodded to the old lady.

"Then we’ll take the child back today, come again tomorrow." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Dean Zhao, seeing them leave, hurriedly nodded, "Remember to prepare what’s listed. Have no worries with the child here, I’ll frequently check in."

Old Mrs. Cheng thanked her repeatedly, led Ping’an away unwillingly, the group left the daycare.

On the way, Zhou Xiaozheng picked him up, wiped his forehead sweat with a handkerchief, "Ping’an really likes it here?"

"Grandpa, there are many friends here."

Lin Lishan teased him, "Will you cry because you can’t see mom and dad here?"

Everyone waited quietly for his answer.

"I’m a good kid. Mom and Dad go to school, I go to school too. Find mom tonight."

Zhou Xiaozheng joyfully patted his head. Not bad, much better than other unruly kids. He listened to the old lady’s recount of the child’s morning behavior, felt even prouder, planning to privately instruct the kid tonight to avoid his child being at a disadvantage.
