Sun Wukong did not have an absolute sense of good or evil. In his view, whether it was the Demon Clan or the Human Race, if one acted righteously, then they were righteous; if they acted wickedly, then they were wicked. As for the standards of good and evil, he believed it was best to follow one’s heart.

The rat demon, in Sun Wukong’s opinion, indeed had a way of courting death, but it was not necessarily a must to kill her. One reason was that she needed to assist Jiang Liu’er in completing the Eighty-One Tribulations of the Journey to the West to Seek Scriptures. On the other hand, Sun Wukong also believed she had not yet reached the point where she must be killed.

Of course, if she still thought of eating people and doing evil after being warned, then she was indeed seeking her own death. Even at the risk of not fully facing the Eighty-One Tribulations, Sun Wukong would take action to eliminate her!

With a flip of his palm, Sun Wukong looked at the Evil Pearl in his hand, a cold smirk flashing across his eyes. After sensing the aura within the Evil Pearl, he quickly locked on to his target.

Between the Evil Pearl and the Evil Race that created it, there existed a special connection that allowed the host to share the Life Essence it absorbed. Sun Wukong was now set on following this connection to unearth the individuals of the Evil Race lurking behind the scenes!

In the forest behind the Zenhai Monastery, in a serene place, there lay an exceptionally secretive Cave Dwelling called the Bottomless Pit of Trap-emptiness Mountain. Following the lead of the Evil Pearl’s sensation connection, Sun Wukong found this place.

“What a deep cave, it seems there’s another world down there!”

Sun Wukong looked at the Bottomless Pit of Trap-emptiness Mountain. This pit was reputed to be bottomless and indeed was exceedingly deep; Sun Wukong had never seen any other cavern that could surpass this Bottomless Pit. A faint connection from the Evil Pearl originated from within this pit.

His eyes darting around, Sun Wukong used the Invisibility Spell to conceal his form and leaped into the Bottomless Pit, accelerating downward quickly arriving at the bottom.

Below the Bottomless Pit was indeed another world, where flowers and exotic fruits abounded, and the wind and sunlight felt just like the outside world—an unmistakable Cave Heaven.

“This Evil Race sure knows how to pick a place!”

Sun Wukong nodded repeatedly, the Trap-emptiness Mountain’s Bottomless Pit was no less than Water Curtain Cave Heaven, of course, it was the former Water Curtain Cave Heaven. Now, Water Curtain Cave Heaven was filled with Immortal Spiritual Qi, far more formidable than before!

Footsteps sounded. Though Sun Wukong was in an invisible state, he still hid behind a rock.

“Grandma has been out for several days now, I wonder when she will return. Grandpa has been waiting in the cave, getting quite irate!”

“Exactly! I don’t know where Grandma found this Grandpa, he has a terrible temper, ready to take lives at the slightest disagreement, truly fearsome!”

“Shush! Speak cautiously! If Grandpa hears us, we’ll be done for!”

Two maids carrying trays of fruit and drinks passed by, whispering amongst themselves. Sun Wukong, hidden behind the rock, raised his eyebrows, their mentioned grandma must be the rat demon, but who was this grandpa? Could he be from the Evil Race?

Sun Wukong had mostly figured it out correctly: previously, a member of the Evil Race had taken an interest in the Rat Spirit, intending to use it as a host and rely on it to collect Life Essence. However, the Rat Spirit had turned the tables and absorbed the Life Essence of the Evil Race member, even seizing its Evil Pearl.

But things did not end there. Another, more powerful member of the Evil Race showed up. The Rat Spirit was no match for it and was forced to become its Taoist companion.

This member of the Evil Race now resided within the Bottomless Pit of Trap-emptiness Mountain, and under its coercion, the Rat Spirit went out to search for Life Essence, naturally choosing Jiang Liu’er as its prime target.

If not for the Rat Spirit’s greed for more Life Essence before this, Sun Wukong would not have encountered it.

“This guy from the Evil Race seems to have a violent nature— even his subordinates are afraid of him!”

A chill smile curved the corners of Sun Wukong’s lips, “This is perfect! Old Sun will not hesitate when the time comes to strike!”

Moving silently, Sun Wukong quietly followed behind two maidservants. The Bottomless Pit had many intersections, and Divine Sense was unreliable here; it was easy to take a wrong turn, so it was better to follow the two who evidently were on their way to deliver food to that member of the Evil Race.

Indeed, after winding through seven or eight bends, Sun Wukong arrived at a gateway adorned with exotic flowers and green bamboos and several dwellings inside—clearly a residential area.

No need to ask; this must be the residence of the Rat Spirit and that member of the Evil Race.

The two maidservants entered, followed by Sun Wukong. He reached the largest house in the inner area, and suddenly, Sun Wukong halted. Beneath the power of the Void-Breaking Divine Eye, he clearly saw the two maidservants pass through a Barrier into the house. Had he not maintained the Void-Breaking Divine Eye, he might not have noticed.

They clearly had special Prohibitions and Restraints that allowed them to enter the Barrier without impediment. However, if someone else foolishly followed, touching the Barrier would trigger a reaction, certainly alerting that member of the Evil Race!

By then, the two maidservants had already carried dishes and drinks into a pavilion within the residence. Inside the pavilion sat a tall man radiating Evil Qi, half reclining on a couch, holding a woman in his arms, teasing her while his hands roamed over her body—clearly not a good sort!

“Tch! What a licentious scoundrel! Truly deserving of death!”

Sun Wukong couldn’t help but spit quietly to himself, his disdain for the Evil Race deepening, even feeling an urge to strike immediately and kill the licentious man with his staff.

Just then, he overheard a conversation that made Sun Wukong who had been about to strike, hold back for the moment.

“Grandma, have any messages come?”

“Reporting to Grandfather, grandma sent a message saying she has made contact with Tang Seng and his group. She is devising a plan, and probably in a day or two, she will kidnap Tang Seng. After absorbing Tang Seng’s innate Yang Life Essence, she will be able to join Grandfather in becoming Da Luo!”
