Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space-Chapter 914: Coming Home
Wei Kaiyun waved at the three older kids with a smile and went out. After he cleaned up, he needed to lie down with his little son.
The hot water was ready. "Xiao Wei, why don’t you give the three kids a bath? Let them take a nap after lunch?" Du Fengying sought Wei Kaiyun’s opinion.
"Sure, I’ll go call them out." After a few days on the train, the kids must be tired.
Han Xiangjun wanted to bathe his son but was ruthlessly refused.
"Dad, I’m grown up, I can do it myself."
Han Xiangjun felt that his loving father’s heart was mercilessly hurt. His son hadn’t been around for two years and felt a lot more distant.
Wei Kaiyun, seeing his dejected look, patted him on the shoulder, saying everything without words.
The two boys bathed first without playing around, knowing it was cold and fearing getting sick.
The bathroom was in two sections; the two fathers waited outside to ensure the kids didn’t catch a cold, though it was quite warm inside.
When they came out, they helped dry their hair, wrapped them in an adult’s coat, and carried them back to the room.
Jiang Feifei would hardly let Wei Kaiyun help with her bath. After washing, she too was carried back to the room.
By now, the two boys’ hair was dry. They were watching the two younger ones drink milk.
Wei Kaiyun softly dried his daughter’s hair and watched his little son eat heartily. How long has it been since this guy was hungry again?
"Dad, look how daintily my sister eats! But my brother gulps it down like a wolf," Jiang Feifei said with a smile.
She knew her father didn’t feel the same way about this sister as he did about Jianbin, which wasn’t okay as they should live together harmoniously in the future.
"Hmm, your brother is definitely going to grow strong."
Jiang Feifei thought of her own face, imagining a large, burly build and shuddered. No, this won’t do; she couldn’t let her brother turn into that, it was too scary. She had to make sure he exercised in the future.
Han Xiangjun laughed on the side, "Neither of you is stout, so how sturdy could the child be?
Xiao Wei, I really envy you. Who would have thought you’d have a lovely wife and kids now, watching you be so alone before."
"Want one?"
Han Xiangjun understood Wei Kaiyun’s meaning. He laughed and shook his head, "Unless you give me Feifei, I won’t take anyone else."
"In your dreams?" He rolled his eyes at Han Xiangjun; no one was allowed to long for his daughter.
Old Yang finished his bath and Han Xiangjun went next.
Then it was Shang Zhenkun, and finally, Wei Kaiyun.
He hadn’t finished bathing when Jiang Xinyu and the others returned.
Old Yang saw his well-wrapped wife and went over to take her hand.
Zhao Xiaoli, teary-eyed, looked at Old Yang. Even though she missed him, she hadn’t been so emotional, but seeing him in person, she couldn’t hold back.
"Alright, I’m back.
Xiaoli, this is my friend Han Xiangjun.
Old Han, this is my wife Zhao Xiaoli."
The two greeted each other with smiles. Han Xiangjun envied Old Yang’s good fortune. When they first met, he was the only one with a family and a wife, now others seemed happier than him.
Guodong, Jingchu, and Old Yang greeted Shang Zhenkun.
"Guodong, Jingchu, this is your Uncle Han, Jianbin’s father," Old Yang introduced them.
The two respectfully greeted him. Han Xiangjun knew these were Jiang Xinyu’s friends’ kids whom Old Yang had arranged to be educated here.
Jiang Xinyu was already inside, chatting with the three kids on the kang.
Jiang Feifei leaned against her mother, whispering the sights of the journey, with the two boys chiming in.
Wei Kaiyun was aware of the commotion outside, hastened his pace, and tidied up, eager to rush back to his wife; his attention was solely on her now.
Jiang Xinyu smiled at him, "Welcome home safely."
Wei Kaiyun took a couple of steps to sit on the kang beside his wife.
"I’m back."
"Good, it’s nice you’re back. How was the journey? Was it tiring?"
"Not tiring, just missed you both."
Jiang Xinyu blushed, giving Wei Kaiyun a sidelong glance with the kids all around.
Just then, little Jiang Shixian made his presence known. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The little guy called his mother in coos, smiling with an open mouth, drooling.
Shi Jing was on hand to wipe his drool with a handkerchief.
Jiang Tingting was fluttering her limbs on the side, smiling and looking at Jiang Xinyu.
Jiang Xinyu knew that Wei Kaiyun was very indifferent to this little girl, feeling a bit helpless, knowing it wasn’t good as the child would notice when she grew up.
Even though she had mentioned it a few times, he remained the same, leaving her with little choice.
She picked up the little girl, gazing into her smiling eyes, kissed her cheek.
Shixian, seeing his mother not holding him, immediately started wailing. Jiang Xinyu gave Wei Kaiyun a look.
Shixian, in his father’s arms, seemed unsatisfied, trying to reach toward his mother.
By now, lunch outside was ready.
Du Fengying asked Jiang Xinyu to stir-fry some carrot strips, as the kids wouldn’t eat those she cooked.
In about a quarter of an hour, the family divided into two tables, simply split by gender.
Shang Zhenkun sighed, "There’s nothing like being home."
Everyone nodded, especially the three kids, who hadn’t realized it before, but the past two months away made them appreciate that nothing was better than home.
Han Xiangjun sat on the warm kang, eating delicious food, filled with envy, thinking of setting everything aside and living here instead.
But he knew it was just a thought; he couldn’t really do it, couldn’t give up his money and power.
"Old Han, eat more. How’s the food at my house? Does it suit your taste?"
"Xiao Jiang, no need for formalities, we’re not outsiders.
But this food really suits my taste."
"That’s good then. Jianbin, serve your dad some food so he doesn’t feel embarrassed," Jiang Xinyu said with a smile.
The men have all had a bit of alcohol today. Du Fengying boiled some wine for them, each just a small glass.
"Guodong, want some?"
"Uncle Wei, I have class this afternoon, no drinking." He was even thinking of joining the women’s table.
The women were purely eating, so they finished quickly. After they ate, Jiang Xinyu asked Zhao Xiaoli to lay down, seeing as she was six months along and sitting all morning was quite tiring.
"Xiaoli, go rest, I’ll be done eating soon," Old Yang advised his wife.
Han Xiangjun wasn’t familiar with Zhao Xiaoli, so he didn’t joke around, but watching Old Yang, he smiled with a clearly teasing undertone.
Zhao Xiaoli, blushing, bid everyone farewell and returned to her room.
Old Yang downed his drink in one go, "You guys go ahead, I’m heading to the room."
"Hmm, you’re not eating anymore?" Wei Kaiyun asked.
"No more," Old Yang replied, already putting on his shoes to go.
