Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space-Chapter 913: Meeting at the Right Time
The couple snuggled on the sofa, Li Yunqiao holding Lu Fengzhen, the two reading together. When she encountered words she didn’t recognize, one would teach, and the other would learn, as the affection between them was heating up.
Li Yunqiao only felt love at the age of forty-five. The kind of affection a young man feels for his wife. So many years of married life without a hint of passion. Men are sensory creatures; Liang Caifeng’s appearance was average, her personality not gentle enough, and their relationship was calculated from the start, so one couldn’t blame Li Yunqiao—it’s just the way life plays out.
Lu Fengzhen provided him a sense of vanity unique to men, and due to the age difference, he knew how to cherish her.
Lu Fengzhen met Li Yunqiao after he had been through many experiences. At this age, a man’s thoughts have inherently returned to family, so their timing of meeting was just right.
Li Yunqiao was very patient with his delicate wife. He had a lot of work and encountered particularly tedious matters, which made him quite worldly and smooth. Being able to teach his wife how to read was already quite rare.
In the evening, the two cooked dinner together in the kitchen. Zheng Lihong was very surprised; although her parents used to cook together in the kitchen, the feeling was different.
At night, the young couple lay in bed. "Honglin, it seems your dad really cares about your stepmother."
What could Li Honglin say? He’d been raised by his father since childhood and held him in deep respect, so he would never speak behind his back.
Yet he also noticed his father was very pleased with this stepmother. This was good, as he hoped his father could be happy.
"Honglin, do you think you’ll soon have a younger brother or sister?"
"It would be normal."
"True. Our stepmother is still young, having children would be good."
Days later, Wei Kaiyun and his group finally got off the train. As they had put on their winter clothes in advance, they didn’t feel too cold after getting off.
It took the three men twenty minutes just to unload the luggage.
"Xiao Wei, you take the kids and Monk Master to the waiting hall, I’ll search for a car and get some people. Let Old Han watch the luggage here."
After Old Yang instructed, he hurried out. Previously, no matter where he went or how long he was gone, he felt nothing, but now things were different. He yearned to go home immediately, to see his wife soon.
The three kids sat obediently on the chairs, waiting. They all knew they were almost home and would soon see their mother. After being away nearly two months, they missed her dearly.
Half an hour later, Old Yang returned with five people. This time, they didn’t need the group to load the car; Wei Kaiyun let the kids sit in the front seat.
The rest of them sat in the back compartment. Just the thought of it made them feel cold, yet their hearts were warm.
The car set off, and Wei Kaiyun saw a butchered pig on the car. "That was fast."
"It was perfect timing since it’s late December, time to eat something good.
I took two sets of offals, your wife cooks them deliciously."
Wei Kaiyun nodded with a smile; he would handle the cleaning himself.
Han Xiangjun looked at the two, smiled, and said, "You can just tell from your circumstances that your life must be very good."
"Now that things are easier, there’s not much pressure, and thus my mood is better, meals are good, how could it not be comfortable?"
"Ah, enviable."
Both laughed but said no more. Although there was a canvas covering behind them, it was still very cold; opening their mouths to speak allowed the wind to blow into their stomachs.
An hour and a half later, they reached the village.
Now in the village, you wouldn’t see children running wildly down the streets; it felt very quiet.
Feifei directed, the car stopped right at the entrance of the house.
After parking, the four of them got off.
At this point, the three children had already gotten off the car on their own.
Du Fengying heard the sound of the car outside, heard the knock on the door, and upon opening it saw Jiang Feifei, smiled, and hugged her.
"Feifei, you’ve come back."
"Aunt Liu, we’re here too." Du Fengying smiled and touched Shi Jing and Jianbin’s heads. "Quickly come inside, it’s too cold outside. I’ll go start the fire immediately; every night your mother heats your room. It’ll be warm soon."
The three kids, along with Du Fengying, entered the house, while Wei Kaiyun and the others, along with the driver, began to unload the car.
"Feifei, have you eaten? I’ll make lunch right away, what would you like?" Du Fengying didn’t take the three to Jiang Xinyu’s bedroom; the two younger ones had just fallen asleep, plus the oldest would bring in the cold, better to wait in the living room.
"Aunt Liu, I want steamed bread, rice, egg custard, stewed smoked meat, and my mom’s stir-fried carrot shreds." Shi Jing chirped by the side.
"Okay, I’ll cook right away, you go play by yourselves."
"Aunt Liu, we’re going to see our little siblings."
Du Fengying nodded with a smile, "Keep it quiet, they’ve just fallen asleep. Shi Xian made quite a fuss." Watching the three enter the room, Du Fengying hurried out to help.
"Sister-in-law Liu, no need, please go cook."
"Okay, I’ll go." Du Fengying first lit all the stoves, four big pots, two for boiling water, and two for cooking.
Li Yungui heard the news, came over, saw it was Wei Kaiyun who returned, felt very happy, he finally came back. It felt like they had the backbone again.
With additional help, unloading speed visibly increased.
Just now, they asked and knew where Zhao Xiaoli lived, so Old Yang took the things there directly.
Food, seasonings, and the like went straight to the warehouse, all sorted by Wei Kaiyun.
Feifei’s books and some precious items were put in the study. Her clothes and gifts were placed in her room.
Items brought back by the two boys were placed in their room as well.
Li Yungui saw the pig and mused that these precious items seemed easily attainable for them.
Once everything was sorted, the driver didn’t stay for dinner.
"Brother Yang, I have work to do this afternoon, so I can’t stay." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Old Yang gave him two bags of snacks, seeing the driver off.
Li Yungui knew they needed to rest, so he left, saying he’d return in the afternoon.
Wei Kaiyun lit the stove in the bathroom; everyone needed a bath.
While waiting for the temperature to rise, he went inside to see his youngest son.
The older three sat on the kang bed, reading quietly.
Wei Kaiyun saw his youngest son was plump and fair, sleeping so deeply that he drooled.
He leaned down and gently kissed the little guy’s soft cheek.
His youngest son was pretty, prettier than Shi Jing, resembling Feifei and her sister a bit.
Perhaps disturbed, the little one pouted, looking extremely cute.
Wei Kaiyun watched him deftly turn over, feeling a pang of regret for missing his youngest’s early years.
