Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space-Chapter 507 Hai City
Jiang Xinyu bought some fruits outside, and didn’t purchase anything else for now, as it’s not the right time yet. She planned to replenish the space’s stock another day. It’s indeed inconvenient at the moment.
Back at the inn, the receptionist knew they were from the North, so they spoke in broken Mandarin. Jiang Xinyu understood half and guessed the rest, but they actually had a decent conversation.
"Auntie, I want to ask where I can buy a house here? Bigger is better."
"Little girl, you want to buy a house?"
"Yeah, I’m thinking about it."
"I do know a place, come with me."
Jiang Xinyu followed to the entrance. "Little girl, do you see that house with the red pointed roof? That’s the one for sale."
"That house is a villa, quite big."
"Yes, the owner of this house is gone, and the state is selling it," the lady said with a sigh.
"Little girl, if you’re interested, you should ask the Management Bureau tomorrow. This house has been listed for sale for half a year without any buyers."
"Is there some kind of hitch?"
"Sigh! Who can take out so much money now? Even those who have money don’t dare buy it."
Jiang Xinyu understood instantly, indeed, it’s not suitable for her to stand out like this. But she didn’t know when she’d be able to come again next time.
Better to wait for Wei Kaiyun to come back and discuss it.
"Auntie, besides this house, are there any others? I have two kids, and I want to buy houses for them in advance."
"Here, it’s possible someone might buy a big house, but small houses aren’t enough for each family. Everyone’s squeezed together, so I haven’t heard of any for sale. You can ask the Management Bureau or find an agent in this area to inquire."
"Thank you, Auntie."
"You’re welcome, this is all I know. I’m not sure if I can help you."
"Hehe, it’s much better than trying to find out on my own as an outsider."
It’s already six o’clock, and Wei Kaiyun hasn’t returned. Who knows how his house search is going? Not worried about his safety, just a bit anxious since it’s so late.
Jiang Xinyu rented two thermoses, filled them with water, and returned to the room.
Who knows when Wei Kaiyun will come back, decided not to wait, take a shower first for comfort.
After Jiang Xinyu made the two beds and took a shower, Wei Kaiyun still hadn’t returned. It’s already a quarter past seven; what’s keeping him?
At half past seven, the door was finally knocked on.
Seeing Wei Kaiyun at the door, she finally felt at ease. "What took you so long?"
"I went to look at houses. There are three villas next to each other. They look especially nice. Why don’t we buy them?"
"Hehe, I was thinking the same. Anyway, keeping the money isn’t useful. Better to buy the houses, and when the kids grow up, they’ll have them."
"Alright, tomorrow noon let’s check them out. I’ve set a meeting with an agent tonight."
"How much are they?"
"Fourteen thousand per villa, same price for each of the three. I’ve checked them inside; they’re quite good, hardly need any renovations."
"That’s forty-two thousand for three villas. Quite a bit of money. Luckily, I brought it."
Jiang Xinyu indeed carried a big leather bag, but it wasn’t full of money, though Wei Kaiyun wasn’t aware of this.
"Wife, you brought that much money?"
"Yes, I brought it. Don’t worry, even if there’s an investigation, there’s an explanation. Qian Jun gave me twenty thousand, and you gave me twenty thousand, it’s doable."
Wei Kaiyun nodded. Since his wife brought the money, it saved trouble and no need for money to be sent over.
"Do you want to shower or eat first?"
"Eat first, then shower afterwards. Let’s eat at the hotel and indulge a little."
Jiang Xinyu shook her head. "I don’t feel like eating. Just a bowl of noodles for me, or even just porridge."
Wei Kaiyun thought maybe she was worried about the money in the room being unsafe, so he didn’t say more.
"Did you hide it well?"
Jiang Xinyu nodded. "Yes, let’s go, quick trip and back."
At the restaurant, Jiang Xinyu ordered a bowl of rice porridge and two side dishes, while Wei Kaiyun ordered two baskets of steamed buns and a bowl of egg soup.
After eating, Jiang Xinyu helped fetch water when they returned, and after Wei Kaiyun showered, they lay down.
Jiang Xinyu refused him. "Not here, I’m not used to it, and there are people on both sides, it’s too embarrassing."
Wei Kaiyun expected this, which is why he thought of renting a place. If they bought a house, renting wouldn’t be necessary.
"Wife, aren’t you afraid I’ll develop some issues like this?"
At this point, Jiang Xinyu pretended to be mute, not answering him. It’s best not to provoke him.
The next day, after washing and breakfast, the two of them took the bus to the textile factory.
The morning was spent scheduling their itinerary. They arrived first; the other five families hadn’t arrived yet.
Thus, they took leave at noon. Riding a unique electric vehicle, Jiang Xinyu found it quite novel.
The house was in a pretty bustling area, a two-story Western-style house, looking impressive from outside.
"Wife, it’s here. What do you think?"
Jiang Xinyu walked around outside since they didn’t have keys and couldn’t get in.
"Just looking from the outside, I think it’s nice. Wouldn’t buying so many at once be too ostentatious?"
Wei Kaiyun shook his head. "No need to worry, not many people know us here. Anyway, if not, just put it in the kids’ names."
"Their household registrations are with me, luckily I brought them."
Wei Kaiyun just smiled. His wife had planned ahead. Even if he went to look, she wouldn’t mind. It fits her heart just right.
"Let’s eat first, talk while we eat, and talk to the agent tonight."
They stopped in front of a restaurant; each had a bowl of noodles. Jiang Xinyu really didn’t like it, didn’t want to eat sweet with salty dishes, felt it wasn’t lunch.
They quickly took the bus back to the textile factory, as there was work in the afternoon.
The entire afternoon was spent familiarizing them with the working environment, led by an officer.
Since they were both from a textile factory, they were very familiar with workshops and machines. But Jiang Xinyu wasn’t, so she absorbed information like a sponge, listening intently to the explanations.
Maybe she could become a researcher in the future. Wei Kaiyun was in another workshop. He was very familiar with the machines, being quick to understand, earning the officer’s admiration.
Busy until four-thirty, then they were allowed a break, as it was almost time to clock out.
Wei Kaiyun thought this place was just a bit more advanced than their home. What was the Management Bureau’s purpose for sending them? Purely for learning?
