Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space-Chapter 506: On Train
Wei Kaiyun nodded. This was the best option. Going to accompany the children at this time was the best way to enjoy family bliss and avoid danger. But the question was whether they would agree or not.
On my side, there shouldn’t be much of an issue. There’s also Vice Director Ding to consider. However, my wife might not be able to go along. She’s a university graduate, so I doubt the Management Bureau would agree.
After the two finished eating, Wei Kaiyun went to wash the lunchboxes while Jiang Xinyu stayed in the dining car, not wanting to go back. It was too noisy.
It was just that she didn’t want Wei Kaiyun to worry, so she didn’t show it.
"Honey, let’s sit here a little longer," Wei Kaiyun said, sitting across from his wife.
"Alright, let’s stay a bit longer. I guess both kids should be asleep by now."
"By the way, Tian Mingyan married a team leader from our factory, but that guy is in his forties, right? He has three children."
"Can she manage to climb up the ladder?"
Wei Kaiyun shook his head, "It’s not easy. The expectations for women are still too high. Unless she makes significant contributions, it won’t work."
"Yeah, when I was pregnant with Shi Jing, I was lucky to be able to go to university far away. Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t have been able to handle it."
Wei Kaiyun patted his wife on the hand, "I’m here for you."
Jiang Xinyu rolled her eyes at him, "What’s the use of having you admit it? We’d both be caught up in gossip.
Haha, my friends all think the father of the two kids is a heartless guy."
Wei Kaiyun smiled, watching his wife’s playful expression with fondness.
"As long as you don’t think I’m heartless, that’s all that matters."
The dining car had no diners left, just people sitting around chatting, presumably because they couldn’t find seats elsewhere.
"It’s about time. Let’s head back," Jiang Xinyu said, getting up first.
Before they could open the door, they could hear wailing noises, causing Jiang Xinyu to frown. It was really annoying.
As they entered the room, the noise paused momentarily.
But soon, it was as chaotic as before. The woman simply lay there, not caring about the two children, letting the older one bully the younger one, who ended up crying loudly.
Jiang Xinyu coughed, "Kids, you need to keep it down. You’re disturbing me."
The older one quieted down a bit, but the younger one continued crying on the floor.
Wei Kaiyun patted his wife’s shoulder, comforting her.
Jiang Xinyu looked at the woman lying on the bed, utterly indifferent, without even a glance. She shook her head and climbed up.
She took out a book, but couldn’t concentrate on reading it. She had no choice but to pull out a radio, tune into the news broadcast, and listen to the exaggerated reports without knowing what to make of them.
Hearing the radio, the two children quieted down. The younger one leaned against his mother, and the older one climbed up to the top bunk.
With the room quiet again, Jiang Xinyu was very pleased. If she had known this method worked, she would have taken out the radio much earlier.
After the news, there was storytelling. Jiang Xinyu quite liked listening to it, as it was like hearing a story.
It wasn’t until nearly ten o’clock that Jiang Xinyu turned off the radio. The two noisy children had fallen asleep, which was a relief.
She quietly got down from her bunk, took her basin, and went to wash up.
Wei Kaiyun followed suit, standing by to keep an eye on things to ensure his wife’s safety.
Early the next morning, Jiang Xinyu groggily sat up.
After they had washed up and had breakfast, the two children woke up. The little one looked at Jiang Xinyu with hopeful eyes.
Jiang Xinyu smiled, "Little one, do you want to listen to the radio?"
The young child nodded eagerly. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"Okay, I can turn on the radio, but you must promise not to cry or fuss."
The little one quickly nodded, seemingly afraid that Jiang Xinyu would refuse.
Jiang Xinyu turned on the radio, carefully tuning into a music channel, thinking the children might enjoy listening to songs.
The room was indeed quite peaceful all morning, allowing Jiang Xinyu to read for a while.
However, when the two returned from lunch, they still heard crying noises.
Jiang Xinyu was puzzled—didn’t they eat lunch? But she was merely curious, not intending to ask.
Seeing Jiang Xinyu enter, the younger child immediately stopped crying but was still sniffling a bit.
Jiang Xinyu smiled at him, then went up to turn on the radio.
Life went on like this. Whenever the train stopped, Jiang Xinyu would disembark for a walk, just to avoid backaches.
The two children seemed to become familiar with Jiang Xinyu, and the younger one could even speak with her, although the mother remained silent.
"Wife, we can disembark the day after tomorrow. We’ll stay outside; it’s more convenient that way."
Jiang Xinyu didn’t mind, "Whatever you decide is fine."
Of course, staying outside was better. The dormitory wasn’t comfortable.
Wei Kaiyun smiled and nodded. That was indeed the best, more convenient.
Until the two got off the train, Jiang Xinyu never heard a word from that woman or saw them sharing a meal. It was rather peculiar.
They disembarked at around 3 PM. After lunch, they didn’t rush back; they returned around 1 PM.
They began packing their luggage at 2:40 PM when the station announcements started.
They finally disembarked with their luggage at 3:30 PM, standing on the platform amidst the bustling crowd, but they didn’t see any vendors around.
"Honey, let’s head to the hotel first. Wait for me while I go look for a place to stay. We can’t keep staying in hotels," Wei Kaiyun mainly worried about not being able to stay with his wife.
Staying in a hotel required a marriage certificate for a couple’s room; otherwise, you’d be on edge. With a two-month stay, renting a place outside was the best option.
They booked a room in Jiang Xinyu’s name.
Actually, she had blank introduction letters with official seals. If a marriage certificate was required, she could make one herself. However, Wei Kaiyun was apprehensive and unwilling, so she simply went along with his approach.
After placing their luggage in the room, Wei Kaiyun went out to look for a place, while Jiang Xinyu went to call Qian Jun.
"Mr. Qian, I’ve arrived. Yes, just got off the train. Okay, I understand. Don’t worry."
After hanging up, Jiang Xinyu smiled and went out for a stroll.
In fact, she was considering buying property here as an investment, but she was unfamiliar with the area and didn’t know who to ask. Once settled, she thought it would be safer to inquire with the real estate office.
Her current thought was to leave more assets for her two children while she still could afford it. Otherwise, in the future, she couldn’t even imagine housing prices, which definitely wouldn’t be within the reach of ordinary people. Hearing the price per square meter was equivalent to a year’s salary made it unaffordable.
