Chapter 33 -33 You Belong to Me (Revised)
The sun was shining brightly on a beautiful morning when Han Jiaojiao woke up in her brother’s arms.
Recalling what happened last night, she blushed slightly. She always squeezed into his arms subconsciously when she felt shy, and now was no exception.
The words that Han Yi had spoken last night had hit her so hard that she couldn’t stop crying…
Her heart was filled with joy, but remembrance of the past flooded her with sorrow!
If she hadn’t been swayed by Su Xue, hadn’t believed Qin Nanyi, and hadn’t deliberately opposed her brother, then she and her brother could have had a perfect ending, living happily together even in the apocalypse…
So she sobbed and laughed like a lunatic, moved to tears regardless of how Han Yi tried to comfort her. Eventually, she cried herself out, leaned on Han Yi’s shoulder, and intermittently sniffled until she fell asleep while crying.
Seeing her awake, Han Yi kissed her swollen eyes and said in a gentle voice, “Your eyes are all puffy, go wash up.”
Han Jiaojiao looked up at him and smiled, “Brother, were you proposing to me last night?”
There was tenderness and a smile in Han Yi’s eyes. “That wasn’t a proposal.”
Han Jiaojiao paused, then sat up out of his embrace, her voice trembling slightly, “Brother, don’t you want to marry me?”
Han Yi cupped her face and said, “Silly girl, I will not propose to you because I don’t need your consent. Whether you want to or not, you will belong to me, and only me. Understand, Jiaojiao?”
Han Jiaojiao stared at him blankly for a while before she shyly smiled and whispered under her breath, “So domineering.”
Her bashful appearance was enticing, her eyes still red from crying the night before, sparking an even stronger desire to do something.
Han Yi licked her lips with a sense of longing, “Baby, you’re so sweet.”
—— You belong to me, in this life and the next. You are mine and only mine.
Han Jiaojiao hid under the covers, refusing to come out.
……
Han Yi and Han Jiaojiao did not come downstairs until almost noon.
The takeout had already arrived, and the furniture and appliances they ordered yesterday were also being delivered.
As they came downstairs, Yan Xiao and Xiao Jian were moving the items to the back of the villa, with Bai Kairui bustling about as well.
Yan Xiao and Bai Kairui seemed to hit it off well, chatting happily, often bursting into laughter. Even the usually silent Xiao Jian occasionally showed a faint smile on his face.
Lu Changyuan was sitting alone in the living room watching the news, with paper and pen in hand, jotting down notes occasionally.
Seeing the two of them come down, Lu Changyuan raised an eyebrow, his face revealing that ambiguous smile once again.
Han Jiaojiao, feeling guilty, hid behind Han Yi’s back, but Han Yi remained as if nothing was wrong and calmly sat down on the sofa.
“Any new developments?” Han Yi asked about the morning’s news updates.
“They say the situation is under control, and the traffic congestion outside the city is gradually easing.”
“So, it’s the same as yesterday.”
Lu Changyuan shook his head, “Today, there are far fewer refugees entering the city.”
He glanced at his notes and continued, “The nearest disaster-affected areas to us are Liao’an Province and Yuchuan Province. Although not covered by the meteorites, the impact and the earthquakes and tsunamis that followed have made the local environment completely uninhabitable. Not counting other areas, just these two provinces have to relocate twenty million refugees. Qingjiang’s road transport capacity can handle a maximum of two hundred thousand a day, and it was almost always operating over capacity before. The news has mentioned the need to ease the traffic, but today, the volume of cars is only thirty thousand.”
Han Yi took the paper from him, his brows furrowing. “Is this data accurate?”
“These numbers are public on the internet; it’s just that no one pays attention,” Lu Changyuan said with a strange smile, sipping his tea. “Normally, we would see a slow decrease in a parabolic curve, but instead, there’s a sudden drop. Where have all those missing people gone?”
Han Jiaojiao looked at the two men, a bit confused; numbers had never held her interest…
Han Yi handed the paper back to Lu Changyuan, lightly tapping the coffee table, his tone cold, “Turned into Alien Species?”
Lu Changyuan was still smiling, “Or perhaps the traffic cops managing the thoroughfare have been replaced by special forces? There must be many infected among the refugees, heh… Killing off a few wouldn’t be strange.”
Han Jiaojiao couldn’t help but shiver when she heard this.
Han Yi’s brows furrowed, “Has the special police authority within the city districts been loosened?”
Lu Changyuan shrugged, “Who knows? The Han Family probably has the information, but they haven’t sent any messages to you for so long.”
Han Yi stood up, his tone still indifferent, “No news is the news.” If they had any information, they would have tried to find out from him, but this time, there’s been complete silence from the Han Family.
Han Jiaojiao was confused at first but then understood.
Presumably, the individuals from the Han Family were deliberately concealing military information from her brother. She sneered, “They probably think by doing this, they can control the spread of the epidemic. But they don’t realize this isn’t just an ordinary epidemic; it’s a mutation of the whole world. Not just humans and animals, eventually even plants will mutate. They can control the car flow at the highway entrances, but can they prevent the plants from sprouting up from the earth?”

Lu Changyuan picked up his pen and paper, looking curiously at Han Jiaojiao, “When will what you’re describing happen?”
“As I recall, after a few Alien Species appear, the cities will descend into chaos quickly. It starts with the smaller cities around, and then here. The Alien Species will breed like mad, and all cities… will become their nests entirely.”
