Rebirth: Contract Husband Falls in Love with Me-Chapter 532 - 272: Sang Wan’s Anger
"Qing’er is truly sincere towards me!" Shi Fengming jumped up as if a cat whose tail had been stepped on, indignant and exasperated, "Don’t be bitter just because you can’t eat grapes and say that the grapes are sour. You’ve been faithless and fickle yourself and you just can’t wait for everyone else to be the same as you! I mean no disrespect towards my sister-in-law; I’m just telling the truth. Don’t tell me Sister-in-law doesn’t know anything about your past with Cousin Gu!"
Sang Wan couldn’t listen any longer and lifted her foot to leave. Ever since Shi Fengju had arrived, she had silently stood aside with her eyes slightly downcast, listening to the two brothers getting more and more agitated discussing the matter. Sang Wan felt as if a needle were ruthlessly piercing her heart. So in Shi Fengming’s eyes, she, Sang Wan, had become the main culprit for tearing apart the childhood sweethearts! It was as if he had forgotten that their marriage arrangement had come first.
"Miss Wan!" Shi Fengju suddenly grabbed her hand and squeezed it hard.
"You two chat, I’m going back!" Unable to break free from his grasp, Sang Wan looked up at him and forced a smile.
Shi Fengju’s deep, pond-like eyes were fixed on her before he suddenly pulled her into an embrace, tightly holding her and said to Shi Fengming, "I won’t deny the past, nor am I afraid to tell you that it was I who loved the wrong person, and it was my fault that I hurt Miss Wan. Now, all I want is to live a good life with Miss Wan for the rest of our lives; she is the most important person in my life! Some words are hurtful when spoken, and if you dare to be so unrestrained in front of Miss Wan again, don’t blame me for being impolite! Isn’t it Su Qing’er’s situation you want to know about?" Shi Fengju scoffed coldly, "Rest assured, I won’t tell anyone to harm her, but it’s her own freedom to do as she pleases! Bro, I think you’re just worrying in vain. If she truly had you in her heart, I haven’t seen her come around these past few days! I’m afraid she’s already forgotten about you!"
"You, you——" Shi Fengming was so angry that his face turned white, and stamped his foot, "With you being such a fierce and malevolent presence, how would she dare to come around! And here you are making sarcastic remarks to me!"
Shi Fengju retorted with a single sentence, "Fierce and malevolent? All I did was order someone to forcefully evict her. Did I order someone to lay a hand on her? She was so frightened that she disappeared without a trace; her feelings for you are truly——" Shi Fengju clicked his tongue and shook his head, "If she knelt outside the villa’s gate for a day and a night, I might soften my heart and turn a blind eye, but alas, after she left, she never returned!"
"You’re lying! You’re talking nonsense! She wouldn’t do this to me. Let me out, I’ll find her myself!" Shi Fengming, in sheer desperation, was completely distraught.
Shi Fengju raised an eyebrow and said, "Don’t worry, I will let you go find her, but not now. You had better stay put quietly and stop causing a commotion. My sister-in-law is not here to chat with you. If you want to talk, ask the housekeeper to chat with you! If you keep making a fuss, you’ll be forcing my hand!"
Without paying him further attention, Shi Fengju walked away with Sang Wan in his arms.
Sang Wan’s step was reluctant, and her heart was in knots as she walked with her head down in silence. When they passed through the garden, she suddenly stopped and said faintly, "You go back first; I want to take a walk in the garden." She then gently brushed off his arm.
Shi Fengju was taken aback, turned his head to signal Liu Ya and the others to leave, and still held her with a smile, "What would I do going back alone? I’ll accompany you."
Sang Wan shook her head, "I just want some quiet time to myself. You’re tired too; just go back and rest."
"I’m not leaving," said Shi Fengju, "I won’t disturb you, that’s all."
Seeing his persistence, Sang Wan gave him a look and said no more, lifting her foot and walking slowly towards the garden, brushing off his hand, "It’s terribly hot; don’t cling like that."
Shi Fengju glanced at her but didn’t continue to hold on, and followed silently behind her.
The most dazzling sight in the garden at that moment was the crape myrtle, blossoming in a bright blaze of purplish-red and pinkish-white. Sang Wan stood under a pomegranate tree laden with greenish fruits, gazing blankly at the lush crape myrtle nearby, lost in thought. She couldn’t escape the nightmare of her past life, and even though Shi Fengju was now protective and affectionate, she was still unable to break free.
"Miss Wan," Shi Fengju wrapped his arms around her from behind, whispering in her ear, "Don’t take the ramblings of the second brother to heart. How I treat you, don’t you know?"
Sang Wan’s lips moved slightly, and after a moment she said softly, "Fengju, have you ever hated me?"
After a silence, Shi Fengju said, "I’ve blamed you before, but never hated you. Miss Wan, didn’t we agree not to bring up the past? Look, I brought you out here to ease your mind, but then we encountered such an upsetting incident. Seeing you like this also distresses me!"
