Rebirth: Contract Husband Falls in Love with Me-Chapter 491 - 251: Conflict (Part 2)
By then, how could Sang Wan have the mind and energy to cause trouble for herself while dealing with her aunt?
Until now, the previously silent Sang Wan also raised her head and said, "Mother has the ideas, naturally, I will abide by whatever Mother decides. My status is humble and my words carry little weight, I dare not say more! I will comply with whatever Mother says!" π§π³π¦β―ππ¦π·π―ππ£π¦π.πΈπ°π
It was true that she wanted to properly resolve this matter, naturally, she would discuss it with herself, rather than putting her through a test first. Since she has tested it out, it shows her intentions! Sang Wan felt dispirited and even more disinclined to plead. Even if she pleaded, it would likely only bring her disgrace.
"Did you hear that!" Mrs. Wang, seeing Sang Wanβs indifferent and careless demeanor, grew even angrier and sternly said to Mrs. Jiang, "Who gave you the audacity? Are you also being rebellious?"
Mrs. Jiang didnβt dare to persist, could only reluctantly agree, she gave Sang Wan a troubled look and lowered her head to leave.
In the house, only Mrs. Wang and Sang Wan were left, one full of anger, the other indifferent and nonchalant, neither spoke, and the atmosphere turned eerily strange for a while.
In the warm pavilion, Gu Fangzi gave a slight smile, putting her mind at ease.
Though Mrs. Jiang took the orders and left, she didnβt dare actually send Sang Pingliang to the government office. She knew her Masterβs temperament all too well. Mrs. Wang acts impulsively and would surely regret later. Having served Mrs. Wang for decades, she surely knew how to genuinely help her master! Therefore, although she left, she just stood by the door, looking out, hoping Shi Fengju would return soon, without making a move against Sang Pingliang.
Speaking of Shi Fengju, when he arrived at the shop, the shopkeepers told him the situation and he, too, was stunned. Sang Pingliangβs task was just to guard the warehouse, and Shi Fengju usually would not go there. Such a minor position also didnβt necessitate reporting to Shi Fengju, which led to him completely being unaware that Sang Pingliang was even employed in his own shop.
Knowing that Sang Pingliang was hired during the time Gu Fangzi managed the shipping, Shi Fengju figured it out without asking more. Asking would be futile, as Gu Fangzi, thorough in her proceedings, had her ways of justification. The matter having happened, he had no interest in it.
Shi Fengju, with a stoic face, after hearing the shopkeeper, ordered Chang Huan personally to bring Sang Pingliang over. The man naturally could not be kept, but it also seemed inappropriate to punish him, letting him off privately would suffice! As for the deficits, although claiming Sang Pingliang spat it all out, he had to cover the loss a bit with his own money.
Who knew, soon after, Chang Huan hurriedly came back and said, "Young Master, your father-in-law has left! I asked your mother-in-law, and she said, she said he went to our mansion to plead..."
Shi Fengju raised his eyebrows and immediately headed home.
Shi Fengju thought he either went to Sang Wan or Gu Fangzi, so upon returning, he went straight to Ningyuan, only to be informed by Xingzhi that Lady Wang summoned his wife. Feeling something amiss, he hurried toward the main courtyard, just to see Mrs. Jiang anxiously looking around at the door.
"Young Master, youβre finally back!" Mrs. Jiang saw him and finally relaxed, quickly moving forward and said, "Please, go and persuade Lady Wang, she is very angry! I donβt know whatβs wrong with your wife today, sheβs not saying a word to soften the situation, and itβs just a deadlock now!"
"Madam, donβt panic, what exactly happened?" By now, Shi Fengju had calmed down, stopped and asked Mrs. Jiang.
Mrs. Jiang didnβt care about maintaining appearances or not, and explained verbatim the standoff between Mrs. Wang and Sang Wan, sighing again, "I donβt know whatβs gotten into the madam today. If she would just soften a little and plead, Lady Wang wouldnβt be so angry! Young master, when you go, please talk to your wife, if Lady Wang holds a grudge because of this, it will only lead to unrest in the mansion!"
Shi Fengju nodded, "Madam, rest assured, I know what to do. This incident happened while Miss Wan was with me in Handan; she didnβt know anything about it at all; my mother shouldnβt have tested her like that! Itβs clear my mother doesnβt trust her; how could she speak out to soften the situation?"
Mrs. Jiang was stunned, somewhat astonished.
Shi Fengju gave a faint smile and went inside.
"Mother!" Shi Fengjuβs call broke the unusual silence in the hall, Mrs. Wang and Sang Wan both instinctively relaxed slightly.
"Hmm!" Mrs. Wang glared at him annoyed.
"Miss Wan," Shi Fengju softly pulled on Sang Wan, "Come, sit down and talk!"
Mrs. Wangβs face darkened immediately, her eyes fixed on Sang Wan, staying silent.
Sang Wan gently brushed off Shi Fengjuβs hand, still standing motionless.
Seeing her like this, instead of feeling relieved, Mrs. Wang sneered, "Fengju, you sit down! She is too audacious now, doesnβt even regard the Shi family in her eyes!"
Sang Wanβs body stiffened slightly, biting her lip without speaking.
"Mother," Shi Fengju frowned slightly, "Iβve already heard about the incident from Mrs. Jiang, this has nothing to do with Miss Wan, why are you taking it out on her?"
"What did you say?" Mrs. Wang stared at Shi Fengju as if she didnβt recognize him, "Are you blaming me?"
"Iβll handle this matter, Mother, you donβt need to intervene!" Shi Fengju still insisted.
Mrs. Wang felt a surge of anger rushing to her head, making her dizzy. If not for Sang Wanβs vanity in hiding the issues of her natal family, Sang Pingliang wouldnβt have been allowed into the shop by Gu Fangzi when he came to visit. Now that heβs done something so despicable, shouldnβt she at least be allowed to complain? Yet Sang Wan, indifferently stands up to her own mother, and even upon her sonβs return, there seems to be an accusation of her being too interfering!
