Realm of Myths and Legends-Chapter 1284: Ore of Dreams
"We are down to the last three items of our auction for today. This next item requires no explanation as I am sure everyone here has heard of it and seen it in on display in our Golden Treasure House throughout the year." Lady Kesa started.
The next moment, a movable podium covered by a golden cloth and escorted by two guards and moved toward center stage.
The two guards were accompanied by a man who appeared to be in his late forties to early fifties. This man had a powerful and robust aura about him with every step he took. Without a doubt, he was someone who had stepped into the legendary realm.
’It’s finally here.’
Lady Kesa removed the golden cloth and revealed a silver crystal half the size of one’s fist perched atop a pillow behind magically reinforced glass.
The two guards took a step back out of the spotlight; however, they maintained their vigilance. As for the man who accompanied them, he stood silently next to the podium with his eyes closed.
Although no one was foolish enough to rob the Golden Treasure House, one could never underestimate the idiocy of those blinded by greed. This was even more so when it came to the item currently being auctioned off.
"The Ore of Dreams—just as its name implies, it can be the dreams a craftsman to life. It is ranked among the top ten on the Treasure Ores List. It is both easy to work with and calling it high rarity does not quite do it justice. Working with it, virtually any craftsman can produce a masterpiece worthy of being called their life’s greatest work. There is no starting bid for this item. The owner is also willing to trade for an item of equal or greater value. Let the bidding begin." Lady Kesa announced.
"1,000,000 gold coins!" The first voice sounded from the crowd of guests.
"1,250,000 gold coins!" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"2,000,000 gold coins!"
The bid quickly took off and immediately started in the millions. However, compared to the value held by the Ore of Dreams, such offers could not even be considered a warm up.
"10,000,000 gold coins." A voice sounded from one of the private rooms.
"10,000,000 gold coins..?! Sigh... As I thought, we don’t even have a chance." One of the guest shook his head in disappointment.
"That’s enough gold to easily rival the annual revenue of some mid-sized cities in the Seven Kingdoms! But, it’s not surprising since the last Ore of Dreams that appeared was used to craft a Divine Weapon. Even 10,000,000 gold coins can’t compare to a Divine Weapon, or any Divine Treasure for that matter." One of the guests commented.
’Even among Pseudo-Divine materials, there are clear gaps in their ranks. There are those infinitely closer to being an actual divine item than others. In this case, the Ore of Dreams is about as close as a Pseudo-Divine material can get to being a true divine material.’
"This Ore of Dreams—my Duvelle family has had their eyes on it for quite some time now. I hope that everyone today will give this old man some face and not fight me for this." A voice echoed from the same private room that offered the 10,000,000 gold coins.
"If the Duvelle family has their eyes on the Ore of Dreams, will anyone else dare to fight them for it after they’ve spoken up?" One of the auction guests sighed as he shook his head in disappointment.
"Besides the Kroma family, who would be bold enough to risk offending the Duvelle family in Danaharpe?" Another guest commented.
"Still, why does the Duvelle family want the Ore of Dreams? As far as I know, they do not have any promising blacksmiths in their family."
"Heh, as a merchant, it’s not hard to understand what they’re thinking. There have been some rumors going around lately that the Duvelle family has been making connections with a few craftsmen in the Blacksmith District. However, as you know, those blacksmiths aren’t exactly the friendly type. But, that all changes if one has the Ore of Dreams. What blacksmith wouldn’t be lining up to meet with the Duvelle family after today?"
’The Apothecary Guild, the Formation Master Guild and now the Blacksmith Guild... It’s probably safe to assume that they’re also targeting the Alchemist Guild along with the other profession guilds. It’s obvious that the Duvelle family is attempting to spread their influence. It’s not as though it’s an uncommon tactic among noble families, but... To call their current approach greedy is an understatement.’
"10,000,000 gold coins—are there any other offers?" Lady Kesa asked as her gaze swept across the room.
Lady Kesa was greeted by a wave of silence. Seeing this, she could not help but to inwardly sigh.
The Ore of Dreams was something that should have sold for more than 10,000,000 gold coins. But, now that the Duvelle family had made their intentions clear to all those present, no one wanted to step up and bid at risk of offending them. It was one of the unspoken rules of an auction not to use one’s background to suppress other offers. Unfortunately, the Duvelle family was not the type to care about something like an unspoken rule.
’The Ore of Dreams... I have a few items that may rival its potential, but none that I am willing to part with. Still, it would be a shame to let it go when it’s right in front of me. Since it has come to this, shall I cast the line and see if they bite?’
"Going once, going twice-" Lady Kesa started.
"I bid a lifeline." Izroth said as his voice carried throughout the silent auction house.
Izroth’s offered immediately caused the silent auction house to flood with whispers.
"The person who just made that bid is that mysterious Supreme Elder of the Fourth Pavilion, right? Are they not afraid of offending the Duvelle family?" One of the guests muttered.
"Well, I guess even the Duvelle family would have to think twice before laying a hand on them. After all, they have the Golden Dragon Association backing them." Another guest chimed in.
"Ha, you must be new to Danaharpe. Everyone knows that the Golden Dragon Association doesn’t interfere with the Pavilions of the Head’s successors. Of course, they wouldn’t just sit back and watch if the Duvelle family was the one to start things. But, since the Fourth Pavilion made the first move, they won’t be able to hide behind the name of the Golden Dragon Association."
"If it’s like that, then how impressive is this Supreme Elder of the Fourth Pavilion? Since they’re willing to ignore the will of the Duvelle family, they must be rather confident. If not for what happened earlier, I would have thought they were being secretly backed by the Kroma family. After all, who else in Danaharpe would be bold enough to go against the Duvelle family?"
Since no one had ever heard of there being a Supreme Elder of the Fourth Pavilion before today, naturally, it caused a lot of speculation to be thrown around about their identity and origins.
