Realm of Myths and Legends-Chapter 1283: Circlet of Darkness, The Kroma Family
For the time being, Izroth had no way of going around and checking each private room. After all, if the League of the Eidolon were here secretly, it would have to be using the identity of someone whose status had been confirmed by the Golden Treasure House. Not to mention, if Izroth went around recklessly barging into the private rooms, it would undoubtedly disrupt the reputation of the Golden Treasure House. This in turn would also affect the overall standing of the Fourth Pavilion and Vexpela, giving her siblings an unnecessary edge in the succession race.
However, as the Supreme Elder of the Fourth Pavilion, it was not as if Izroth had no options at his disposal.
Izroth lightly tapped the crystal on the side of his seat. Not long after doing so, the door to his private room opened as one of the attendants who were on standby outside entered and approached him.
"Is there anything I can help you with, Supreme Elder?" The attendant, Griselle, asked respectfully.
"There is a certain matter I need handled discreetly. I have reasons to believe that the Golden Treasure House’s auction is under threat of disturbance by unwelcomed forces. Using my authority as the Supreme Elder of the Fourth Pavilion, I want you to personally check on all the guests in the VIP rooms. If asked, simply say that one of the communication crystals have malfunctioned and you are trying to locate the source. Also, take this with you, but keep it hidden. If you enter a room and you feel it reacting in anyway, report back to me immediately." Izroth explained as he handed over a small platinum circlet over to Griselle.
"Yes, Supreme Elder. I will see to it at once and report back as soon as possible. Excuse me." Griselle responded as she accepted the circlet and hid it well in his clothes.
Griselle placed her hands in front of her and bowed. She then stood up and walked with quickened steps as she left Izroth’s private room.
’Being a Supreme Elder has its benefits. That aside, Vexpela assigned someone rather competent. I wonder if she would be willing to part with her when I open my shop in the Central Hub.’
Griselle was the personal attendant Vexpela assigned to Izroth at the Golden Treasure House. She was quick, efficient and knew how to get things done without skipping a beat.
As for the item Izroth handed Griselle, it was something called the Circlet of Darkness. It was a C-ranked magic item Izroth purchased a while back from a player selling items on the side of the road. Although it was a magic item, it had a rather simple feature that not many would be interested in. It was why that player sold it to Izroth for an incredibly cheap price.
The Circlet of Darkness would react whenever it was in close proximity to nether energy. The only group who manipulated nether energy were, of course, those from the Netherworld. While it was possible for others to use nether energy, it was far from a common sight. And, those who could most likely had some connection to the Netherworld one way or another.
’I will wait for Griselle to report back. If she isn’t able to find anything in the VIP rooms, then they could be among the guests below. If nothing is found on both fronts, then I will have to expand the range of my search.’
There was still plenty of time before he had eliminate the Faceless Death Stalker. Though doing so in the middle of Danaharpe City was far from ideal, it was not impossible to handle things discreetly. After all, Izroth still needed to hide his identity to accomplish the goal he set with Hyrell.
As Izroth finished organizing his thoughts, the offers for the Gaznite Temporal Key continued to come through. Having declined the Uraz Elemental Totem offered by the Undying Desolate Valley, the other parties who wanted to get their hands on the Gaznite Temporal Key had stepped up their bidding.
"I will offer the Grade Nine Morning Phoenix Pill. And, if the Supreme Elder is interested, I will welcome you as a guest of the Kroma family." A voice sounded from one of the private rooms.
"Did that person just say they’re from the Kroma family?" One of the guests commented in shock.
"If the Kroma family’s making a move, I doubt anyone else will step forward." Another guest sighed as he shook his head.
’Oh? They’re willing to trade a Morning Phoenix Pill? More importantly, if it’s the Kroma family, aren’t they related to the Grand Duke of Harpe?’
The current Head of the Kroma family was also the Grand Duke of Harpe’s cousin. Because of this, the two families maintained close ties. It was also one of the only noble families in Danaharpe City that rivaled that of the Duvelle family. Rather, with the backing of the Grand Duke of Harpe, their influence was a step or two above that of the Duvelle family.
However, the Kroma family was well known for staying out of political conflicts. As a result, the Duvelle family was able to run as wild as they pleased in Danaharpe City. Of course, they made sure to keep a respectable distance from the Kroma family. After all, even the Duvelle family did not want to offend the Grand Duke of Harpe that backed the Kroma family.
’Since the Kroma family doesn’t involve themselves in political matters, it also means that they have not chosen a side. If I can convince them to support Vexpela, in terms of connections, it would immediately place her on equal footing with her siblings. And, if we count the Grand Duke of Harpe’s influence, it could be seen as her shooting well past her siblings. Plus, the Morning Phoenix Pill can come in handy.’
The Morning Phoenix Pill was a Grade Nine pill that granted one an immense level of vitality. While Izroth did not know its exact effects, he had read about it before in the Apothecary Guild’s main library. Apparently, even if one were on the brink of death or in a poor physical state, consuming the Morning Phoenix Pill would transform their body to its ideal conditions. In many ways, it was no different than breathing an entirely new life into someone.
In this regard, the Morning Phoenix Pill was similar to the Celestial Nectar of Nature’s Divine Izroth used to remove the affliction that plagued Nova. Of course, due to its unique nature, the Celestial Nectar of Nature’s Divine was in a category of its own—even when compared against a grade nine pill.
"I will accept your offer." Izroth stated calmly.
In terms of value, the Morning Phoenix Pill still fell short of an item from the Ancient Hollow Times. But, the personal invitation from the Kroma family more than made up for this difference.
"Sold, to our esteemed guest from the Kroma family." Lady Kesa declared.
She then continued, "The next item up for sale..."
Lady Kesa went on to introduce the next lot of items for sale. With every item that appeared, the value skyrocketed.
"Sold for 100,300 gold coins!"
"Sold for 311,800 gold coins!"
"Sold for 696,000 gold coins!"
In between were also some of the items Izroth placed up for auction. Just like the Gaznite Temporal Key, Izroth only accepted other items as a price. As a result, he acquired quite a few useful items and potential connections.
Since no one knew the identity of the Fourth Pavilion Supreme Elder and the fact that he had been invited as a guest of the Kroma family, many of those who offered a trade also added that they would treat Izroth as a guest. Of course, Izroth had no intention of meeting with those deeply involved with the Duvelle family.
Several moments passed as the average price of the auction items had stepped into the lower millions. It had reached a point that even if Izroth relied on the gold coins from being a Diamond-Level VIP, he would still be unable to compete unless he used his own personal funds. Even then, it was by no means a small amount to part with.
"There have been some interesting items, but none that have caught my eye. Though there is one that has yet to show itself." Izroth said to himself.
