Realizing She Misunderstood The Villain, The Heroine Begs For Forgiveness-Chapter 73
Chapter 73
Chapter 73: The Ice Mountain Fairy’s Tears of Regret
At this moment, the Fairy Qingxue quietly leaned in Ye Xuan’s arms. For the first time in hundreds of years, her heart felt such tranquility and peace. She realized how much she had wronged Ye Xuan over these centuries.
He was willing to die at her hands and bear her hatred, just to spare her from suffering. If he were like ordinary people, he probably would have been killed by her and lost in the cycle of reincarnation long ago.
Yet, even after she harbored such intense hatred and refused to listen to his explanations, causing him so much pain, he easily forgave her upon revealing the truth and didn’t reproach her much.
Could she really accept his forgiveness so easily? No, absolutely not! With this determination in her eyes, Qingxue vowed to compensate Ye Xuan for a lifetime, making sure he wouldn’t suffer the slightest grievance again.
Yu Ling’er, also nestled in Ye Xuan’s embrace, had a face full of remorse. Unlike Qingxue, Yu Ling’er’s misunderstanding with Ye Xuan was witnessed by him personally, allowing Qingxue to kneel and beg for his forgiveness.
Yu Ling’er realized she hadn’t actively apologized to Ye Xuan even once and decided she must rectify this.
“Ye Xuan, I’m sorry!” Suddenly, Yu Ling’er sprang up, knelt in front of him with teary eyes, and said, “I’m really sorry… I didn’t realize… Not only did I hurt you so much before my rebirth, but I was also terrible in my past life…”
“I’m sorry, punish me however you want – hit me, scold me, anything!”
Ye Xuan was somewhat speechless at this scene. He smiled at Yu Ling’er and said, “Ling’er, let’s leave the past behind. We shouldn’t mention it anymore, as it will only make me feel guilty.”
After all, he had authored the script and was responsible for everything that had happened. It was somewhat underhanded to turn the plot around and make the female protagonist who was supposed to kill him feel so guilty.
He reached out his hand, signaling Yu Ling’er to return to his embrace.
Yu Ling’er, deeply moved, obediently returned to Ye Xuan’s embrace, looking up at him with a pitiful gaze like a docile little rabbit.
Ye Xuan reassured them, “It’s all in the past now… Don’t feel guilty anymore… Now that we can be together, why dwell on those unpleasant memories?”
Hearing this, Yu Ling’er and Qingxue exchanged glances, each nodding slightly. It was evident they couldn’t easily let go of the past. They felt they could never fully repay Ye Xuan for what he had endured because of them.
This realization only strengthened Yu Ling’er’s resolve to resume her cultivation and regain her former Immortal realm. Only then could she truly stand by Ye Xuan’s side and be of help when he needed her.
Suddenly, Qingxue, with a look of curiosity, asked Ye Xuan, “Husband, why don’t you enter the cycle of reincarnation? As I understand, only demons can avoid it, reforming their physical form after death, while even Immortals must undergo reincarnation and leave their past lives behind.”
This question also piqued Yu Ling’er’s interest. The secrets surrounding Ye Xuan were indeed profound. What accounted for his rapid cultivation, and why did he not undergo reincarnation but merely be reborn?
“If I really were a demon, what would you do?” Ye Xuan inquired, looking at the Immortal in his arms. “Would you kill me?”
Qingxue shook her head gently, smiling. “Even if you were a demon, I believe you’d be a good one. How could I possibly kill you without a reason, especially when I owe you so much…”
Ye Xuan nodded slightly as he looked at Qingxue in his arms. It was apparent that Elder Qingxue, once known as Mo Qingxue, had undergone significant changes over the centuries.
The passage of time had transformed her; she was no longer the same person she used to be. While her hatred for him had remained unchanged until recently, her icy demeanor had melted away with the dissolution of her grudge.
“I am not a demon,” Ye Xuan clarified. “My situation is just… unique and hard to explain.”
He knew he couldn’t reveal the truth about possessing a system that allowed him to travel to the past and play the role of the villain from Qingxue’s perspective. After all, everything that had happened was according to the script he had directed.
“If it’s hard to explain, then there’s no need,” both Yu Ling’er and Qingxue said simultaneously, exchanging understanding smiles. From now on, they would unconditionally trust Ye Xuan, regardless of his actions.
After a long, silent moment, Qingxue finally left Ye Xuan’s embrace. “Husband, I have some matters to attend to. I will come back to you once they are resolved,” she said.
Turning to Yu Ling’er, she added, “Ling’er, I’m entrusting my husband to you for now. Don’t let him suffer any grievances.”
“Uh… okay…” Yu Ling’er responded, feeling a bit awkward.
“What do you mean ‘your husband’?!” Yu Ling’er couldn’t help but feel a mix of emotions. “He… He might have been your husband once, but you divorced him! And now you call him that so casually, huh?!” she thought with a huff.
Despite her frustration, Yu Ling’er couldn’t shake off a sense of guilt. After all, in her past life, she played a significant role in the discord between Qingxue and Ye Xuan.
Qingxue, now also understanding her debt to Yu Ling’er, realized that if it weren’t for her, Jiang Ling’er (Yu Ling’er’s previous incarnation) might have bonded with Ye Xuan, and they could have missed out on their destiny because of her interference.
She didn’t mean any harm…
Acknowledging this, Yu Ling’er nodded in response.
Qingxue then turned to Ye Xuan, “Husband, wait for me to return.”
“Okay,” Ye Xuan agreed. He knew he couldn’t stop her even if he wanted to, wondering what she needed to do.
With a wave of her hand, Qingxue gathered the Former Dust Mirror and soared into the sky, turning into a speck of light before vanishing. Now, only Yu Ling’er and Ye Xuan remained.
The special space they were in, a creation of Qingxue’s magic – a kind of illusion that made them feel as if a lot of time had passed – started to collapse, syncing their time with the outside world.
It was only a short while, but for Ye Xuan and Yu Ling’er, it felt like several days had passed.
The mirror had shown them a lot in great detail, and they were both exhausted by the experience, especially Ye Xuan, who had also traversed to the past for several years. Overwhelmed by tiredness, they both sat down, sharing a tired but knowing smile.
