Re-Overlord: I Can Acquire Anything!-Chapter 153: Emperor or Overlord?
Chapter 153: Emperor or Overlord?
Blue Moon Imperial City.
Inside the colossal and awe-inspiring Imperial Palace, crafted with heavenly jade and celestial stones, the sun cast golden rays across the polished marble floors. Silken curtains fluttered softly as wind brushed past the archways, carrying with it the scent of blooming moonlotus from the Royal Garden.
At the tallest balcony of the palace, a man stood, draped in a long imperial robe embroidered with azure dragons and phoenixes. A regal crown adorned his head, the sapphire gem at its center reflecting the midday light. His sharp gaze swept over the cityscape before him. Countless rooftops, market squares, banners, and crowds of commoners lay beneath his view. It was a kingdom thriving under the peace his ancestors built and he now ruled.
This was the Emperor of Blue Moon, Sovereign of the Eastern Sky, a Martial Saint whose presence demanded reverence.
His moment of silent contemplation was suddenly interrupted.
Tut, tut, tut...
Hurried footsteps echoed through the gold-inlaid corridors. A eunuch, wearing the crimson robes of palace servants, came stumbling into view, sweat pouring from his wrinkled brow.
"Y-Your Majesty!" he called, panting heavily, barely able to hold the scroll in his hand steady.
The Emperor turned his gaze slowly, one brow rising with mild displeasure.
"What news could be so urgent that you would dare disturb this emperor’s peace?" His tone was calm, but carried the chill of winter frost.
The eunuch immediately dropped to his knees and bowed until his forehead touched the floor.
"Forgive me, Your Majesty, but there has been... troubling news," he said, voice trembling as if walking barefoot across blades.
The Emperor narrowed his eyes. "Speak clearly."
"Reports just arrived from Prison Valley, Your Majesty. The Six-Layered Imperial Seal protecting the deepest vault has been broken. Every prisoner within... has vanished."
A quiet stillness settled across the balcony. Even the wind held its breath.
The Emperor’s eyes flashed with a dangerous glint. He stepped forward, placing one hand on the carved dragon railing as he stared down at the distant city.
"Explain. How could something so impossible occur? Were the wardens asleep while the Empire’s greatest criminals escaped?" His voice echoed like thunder across the marble halls.
The eunuch stammered, "N-No, Your Majesty. According to the guards... no one came in or out through the official paths. Surveillance formations were triggered, but only captured two vague silhouettes. The intruders were... unidentifiable."
The Emperor’s lips pressed into a hard line. His jaw clenched slightly, the faintest ripple of spiritual pressure escaping him. Nearby birds scattered into the sky.
"Two silhouettes breached a formation meant to withstand Martial Emperors? Either they are of the same rank... or something worse." His voice was low, nearly a whisper, but carried great weight.
"Do you believe they were from the evil sects?" he asked after a moment.
"We cannot confirm, Your Majesty. But their methods were... unorthodox. It is very likely."
The Emperor’s hand curled over the stone rail. He closed his eyes briefly, thoughts swirling.
"Then we cannot take this lightly."
He turned sharply, his imperial cloak trailing behind him like a banner of war.
"Summon the Imperial Inquisitors. Mobilize every Sky-Eye Hawk, Shadowblade Warden, and inform the Moonlight Pavilion to begin full reconnaissance. I want those two figures identified and captured within three days."
The eunuch’s face went pale. "Y-Yes, Your Majesty. At once."
"And," the Emperor paused, eyes gleaming like cold starlight, "if they resist... bring me their heads."
The eunuch bowed low and scrambled to his feet, disappearing into the shadowy corridors.
The Emperor remained still for a moment longer, looking back at the horizon where the sun now dipped closer to the mountains. The peace of the Empire, it seemed, was once again under threat.
"But no matter who they are... they will learn. This land still belongs to me."

On the other side.
Igaris remained in the Soaring Dragon Sect, quietly waiting for Shirley to return from the secret trial ground she had entered with her master, Serenity.
In the meantime, he secluded himself in one of the mountain chambers to focus. There, he began absorbing the 1,000 high-grade Beast Cores that Sect Master Fang had delivered personally. The Sect Master had hoped to verify the miraculous healing arts shown by the Dao Child, still unsure whether what he witnessed with Elder Hao was truly divine skill or an elaborate illusion.
The cores radiated dense energy, swirling like whirlpools of power as Igaris activated his Infinite Acquisition and devoured them one by one. With each core absorbed, his inner world expanded, and a new ripple of energy strengthened his body and soul further.
While inside he absobed the cores like water, outside the Sect Master met another presence there.
A handsome man with shimmering long white hair. His gaze held an unfathomable depth.
"You feel familiar. Have we met before?" he asked calmly, his eyes locking onto the man who stood leaning against a wooden pillar.
Jian Longchen grinned, his hair swaying slightly with the motion. "Familiar, huh? Maybe because I once knew your great-great-grandfather, child."
"I once knew him quite well."
"Wait... what did you say?" the Sect Master asked with a frown.
The old man chuckled and gave a slow nod. "Jian Longchen is the name. I was once hailed as the strongest sword of his generation. I helped establish the foundation of this very Sect you’re now standing in."
Sect Master Fang froze for a second. Then he muttered the name under his breath.
"Jian Longchen... Jian Longchen..."
The name echoed in his mind like the clang of an ancient bell. His eyes widened suddenly as realization struck him like lightning.
"Jian Longchen, Founder Jian! How can you still be alive? You died millennia ago!"
"Yes, that’s right. I was dead. But my master called upon me for aid."
"Your master? Who’s that? Wait.. you mean Dao Child Yuhan resurrected you? Impossible!"
"Nothing is impossible. Now, kowtow to your Founding Sect Master," Jian said with a grin.
