Chapter 138: The Overlord’s Dominion (2)

The city had not yet recovered from the echo of Igaris’ proclamation when the first ripple of resistance arrived.

A whistle pierced through the heavy air as more than a hundred elite figures descended from the skies, rooftops, and narrow alleyways. Clad in reinforced battle uniforms bearing the insignia of the Stargaze Law Enforcement Division, they formed a blockade in the skies and streets. Each of them radiated a pressure well above Champion Rank. They were elites, hardened in battle, unquestioning in duty.

Their commander, a hulking man with flaming red hair and scar across his brow, hovered in midair before Igaris. His badge glowed, signifying he was a High Commander, Rank: Legendary.

"Igaris Vance!" he bellowed. "You are hereby charged with unauthorized martial suppression, resisting imperial authority, and murder of three enforcement agents. Surrender peacefully or face execution."

Below, the city watched with bated breath.

Igaris did not respond immediately. Instead, he raised a single finger and pointed at the commander.

"You speak as though the Empire still rules this city," he said quietly. "That era ended five minutes ago."

A hush fell over the crowd.

The commander’s eyes narrowed. He gestured with a hand, and instantly dozens of law enforcers surged forward like arrows loosed from the heavens, each one brandishing energy-forged weapons and martial abilities that crackled with raw force.

"Engage. Do not hold back!"

They came fast, but Igaris was faster.

Igaris flicked his wrist and activated Earth Manipulation. Cracks spidered through the paving stones.

Buzzzz!

The enforcers stumbled. Dust filled the air, causing chaos among their formation.

He sailed through with Six Directional Sense, weaving between gunshots and energy waves, completely unflustered.

He smirked, then thrust his finger forward, channeling the red‑crimson might of [ World Destroying Finger]. That’s not all. He combined it with Earth manipulation.

Swoosh...

A massive rocky spear, bristling with destructive energy, shot through the air like a comet.

BOOOM!

Shields shattered and helmets flew off. Bodies were thrown aside. The enforcers groaned in agony. "Argh!"

"HYAAAAAH!"

A champion‑rank female officer charged toward him with her sword raised. He caught her blade with experience from [Godslayer Sword Style], and used [ Kinetic Redirection] to twist her force and fling her off‑balance.

"CLANG!"

Her sword went flying as she crashed painfully.

"DIE, YOU MONSTER!"

A squadron rushed in together; Igaris whispered, invoking [Umbral Veil]. He vanished momentarily from sight. His pursuers swung wildly at empty air. Then he materialized behind them and delivered a devastating [Spin‑Shell Burst], sweeping them off their feet.

"BANG! CRASH!"

"ZZZZZZ!"

Another group fired energy bolts. Igaris planted his feet and formed a Lightning Shell around him. The bolts were absorbed and discharged back in a dazzling arc of light, knocking back two dozen foes.

Two elite enforcers launched simultaneously from flanking positions. He extended both hands, Iron Fangs materialized, and he unleashed a synchronized Soul Eclipse technique. It slammed into them, leaving them unconscious and their souls drained—though they survived without suffering fatal damage.

Enforcers fired heavy artillery.

Noticing it, he stomped the ground and summoned Rock Boulder Throw. Massive boulders rocketed through the sky, smashing weapons and armor into rubble.

Amid the chaos, several officers rushed forward to arrest him. Igaris activated Phantom Shift, phasing through their blades and escaping unscathed. He then extended his arms and created an Infernal Tornado behind him that consumed fleeing foes and hurled them far away.

A Champion‑rank general confronted him directly. Igaris met her with undivided focus and Basic Blademastery. Their swords clashed in a furious flurry. Sparks flew. She fought fiercely, but his Architect’s Eyes revealed every tiny hesitation in her stance. He parried, riposted, cut through her defense. Her blade snapped in half, and she stumbled to her knees before collapsing with honor.

The commander, a Legendary Rank powerhouse, raised his arm and fired his magical Railgun.

"Bang!"

A beam of concentrated force surged across the air with a deafening roar, tearing through buildings in its path. The light it emitted scorched the clouds above.

Igaris moved in a blink.

His body twisted gracefully mid-air, evading the deadly strike by inches. The beam struck the earth behind him, erupting into a fiery crater of molten stone and flying debris.

But there was no pause.

From every direction, officers charged at him, their numbers multiplying by the second. Dozens became hundreds, and soon the sky and streets were filled with figures in uniform, each carrying powerful martial energy. Their movements were coordinated, their intent obvious. They aimed to corner and exhaust him through sheer force of numbers.

Watching from the mansion, Butler Jeffrey gripped the railing, his face tightened with concern. Beside him, Aunt Sophia’s expression had grown darker.

"Why did he have to reveal himself so early?" she asked, her voice low and anxious. "He could have remained in the shadows and taken them down one by one. Why expose himself like this?"

Shirley smiled, her golden hair catching the sunlight as her eyes stayed fixed on the distant sky.

"That might be true for others, Mother," she said gently. "But that is not the way of the Overlord."

Sophia glanced at her, confused. "What do you mean?"

"He does not need to sneak in darkness. Igaris has no need to hide," Shirley said, a quiet pride in her tone. "And he is not alone. He is far stronger than you think."

Butler Jeffrey nodded beside her. "Indeed. If the Young Master has stepped into Mythic Rank, then he could already level this city with ease. These enforcement officers are no match for him. He is holding back."

Shirley shook her head slightly. "That is not what I meant. Igaris is strong, yes. But this..."

She paused, as a deep, resounding voice echoed through the city like the toll of a celestial bell.

"Come forth."

The sound rolled through the streets, the mountains, and even across the distant shoreline. It reached into the hearts of beasts and men alike, commanding attention.

The air turned heavy.

Clouds began to swirl above the city, darkening into shades of stormy gray. Wind howled between the towers, and the sky trembled.

Then came the rumble.

"RUMBLE!"

The heavens groaned as a pulse of raw power burst across the sky. Rain began to fall, slow and rhythmic, like the beat of a war drum.

From behind Igaris, space itself seemed to ripple.

One by one, colossal figures emerged as if stepping from another dimension.

"Roar!"

First came the Regal White Tiger, its fur shimmering with divine radiance. It walked on air with silent grace, each step leaving trails of silver flame.

Next appeared a Ferocious Fiery Lion, its mane ablaze, exhaling waves of heat that warped the air around it. Its roar cracked through the sky like thunder.

"Screech!"

The Majestic Griffin descended soon after, its wings spread wide, feathers catching sparks of lightning. It gazed down at the world with eyes that knew ancient skies.

Then came the Fire Spirits, dancing like flickering lanterns. They moved in spirals around Igaris, playful yet deadly, their laughter bright and echoing.

"Awooo!"

Dire Wolves howled as they leapt into formation, their fangs sharp, eyes glowing with a blood-red hue.

Thud, Thud, Thud!

Earth Golems stomped onto the battlefield, each step causing tremors. Their bodies were carved from sacred mountains, pulsing with runes of forgotten languages.

The sky was suddenly filled with the screech of Wyverns. Twelve of them soared through the clouds in perfect harmony, casting immense shadows over the city below.

Then came the Mechas.

Polished to a mirror shine, they moved like soldiers of light and steel. Their movements were perfectly synchronized, each hum and click of their joints resonating like a mechanical orchestra. Eyes of blue energy lit their faces, focused and ready.

And then the true monsters stepped forward.

The Towering Mountain King, its shoulders brushing against the clouds, moved with the slow strength of the earth itself.

The Shadow Reaper Mecha appeared next, draped in a dark armour that swallowed all light. Its long blade trailed black mist as it floated like a silent sentinel of death.

Undead Commander Malthius emerged from a mist of bone and ash. His armor was ancient, etched with scars from long-forgotten wars. His blade was drawn, and his empty sockets glowed with a cold blue fire. ƒreewebɳovel.com

Finally, she arrived.

Evernight.

Her black hair floated as if caught in an eternal breeze. Her gown shimmered with ethereal starlight. Her steps left no trace, yet the world itself seemed to hold its breath at her presence. Beside Igaris, she stood like a queen among titans.

The city fell silent.

People stopped mid-motion. Merchants abandoned stalls. Officers who once surged forward now froze in place.

The sky above was filled with creatures of myth and machines of the future. And at the center of it all was Igaris Vance.

This was not an army.

It was a proclamation.

The Overlord had arrived.

And the World would never be the same.
