Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 867: She’s The One?
"...Yes?" Rael mumbled back to her, a little confused by the sense of familiarity he felt with her.
Despite that, she just smiled at him before stepping inside. Noticing how many other women there were, she gave each one a smile before approaching a staircase that was hidden behind an illusionary wall.
As she was about to climb up, she turned to all of them and said:
"I’m sure Reyna would want you to feel welcomed, so why don’t you accompany me up to her home? I’ll prepare you some food in her stead."
She seemed very nice for someone who supposedly climbed higher and prestiged. Well, at the end of the day, Rael was sure that every single one of these people was human at heart, and so for that reason, he just nodded at the girls around him and went up the staircase.
The staircase was surprisingly long, and at the end, it led directly into one main room, where there was a kitchen, bedroom, living room, and thankfully, a separate toilet in a different room. It was surprisingly cozy, and seeing how many random steel toys, figurines, and other stuff there were, it was easy to tell Reyna had been living here for a while now.
"Ahem..." The woman covered her mouth slightly. "Ignore all the toys. I don’t doubt it gets lonely when you don’t have anyone to comfort you."
"I don’t really care that much," Rael replied honestly.
She nodded. "That’s good. You have a kind heart. Now sit down on the sofa and wait a few minutes. I’ll be back with some food for you to eat."
With that, she went into the kitchen and began tinkering with whatever she could find. On the other hand, Rael and the others sat down on the sofa.
"I guess this is a little more comfortable than what we sat on earlier," Lilith said.
Zafira chuckled. "Yep. Still... this woman seems to be a little special."
Rael raised a brow. "Why? I can’t sense anything off about her."
"I don’t know, but it’s just a feeling. Don’t you feel it too, Gaia?" Zafira asked.
At her words, Gaia agreed. "I was already suspicious of her before she even arrived. I can assure you, she’s not normal."
Be that as it may, Rael didn’t pose the question, since he was sure that by how loud they were speaking, she had already heard their suspicions. Nonetheless, after a couple more minutes had passed, she came back, carrying some sandwiches and plopping them down on the table in front of Rael and the others.
The sandwiches were plain, but they did look delicious. So before he could even take a bite, Zafira, Lilith, and Nyx swiped some of the sandwiches and began devouring them.
As for the woman, she sat down in front of them and began snacking as well. All the while, she carefully observed them, which was exactly what Rael and the others did as well.
This lasted for nearly ten minutes until finally, Rael spoke up:
"What did you say your name was again?"
She tilted her head. "I didn’t introduce myself, did I? My name’s Eris, and I’m primarily a swordsman. I use Reyna’s swords, since she knows how to make them unbreakable."
When they heard her words, the air shifted, realizing that there were so few coincidences that would explain something like this happening.
"Eris Altros?" Rael questioned.
Eris narrowed her eyes slightly. "You know me?"
Rael felt like he hit the gold mine, but while he was stunned in his own thoughts, Nyx decided to chime in.
"Well... as big of a coincidence as it is, we’re actually friends with your husband. The husband you had before you were tossed into the High Tower, Rael Altros."
"...Pardon?" Eris froze mid-bite, then lowered her sandwich. She stared at Nyx for a moment, her expression cold and one of disbelief.
Though, when she realized that Nyx was dead serious, she said:
"How is he?"
"He’s fine. He’s also in the tower, and the last time we saw each other, he was on the 100th floor. He’s clearing boss floors, so he’s likely at the 130th floor by now," Nyx replied.
Then, she put a hand over her chin and tilted her head slightly.
"On another note, you don’t seem anywhere near as old as I had imagined you to be."
Eris’s brow twitched. "You’re very foul-mouthed."
"I get that a lot, actually," Nyx replied with a chuckle.
Despite that, Eris still seemed a little vulnerable, and Rael could feel that firsthand. Her emotions were unstable, and unlike the person he saw when she first appeared in his sight, she was far more different now.
Honestly, Rael wouldn’t be surprised if this woman had done everything in her power to try getting back if this was the reaction she showed upon getting the news.
But at the very least, Rael now knew that whatever feelings she had for Renoir were still there. If anything, the emotions of longing and love were the strongest emotions Rael felt coming from her.
So with that, Rael decided to get out of her mind and just stare at her while eating. The others did the same. Gaia had some context, since even though she had gotten her body back, she could still hop back into his mind and read his thoughts.
Nonetheless, silence ensued for the next couple of minutes, with the occasional question from Eris resounding, and Nyx answering. It was nice to hear, and for once, Lilith and Zafira remained still without fighting for longer than an hour.
But after the one hour was finally up, they all heard someone walking up the staircase. Once they turned toward it, they saw none other than a sweaty Reyna barge in, plop the zweihander down on one of the nearby tables, and after wiping her sweat, she glanced over to the six of them.
"Hmm? What’s up with the mood here? Did the meeting not go so well?"
