Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 17: Naming Ceremony
Chapter 17 - Naming Ceremony
Rael walked over to the fox, who, unlike the rabbit, immediately went in to attack him.
But since it was a mere level 2 monster, he simply twisted his body to the side before sending yet another kick.
-255! Critical Hit!
That was over, yet he still gained no experience.
Difficulty-wise, he felt like this so-called naming ceremony was merely playing around with him.
However, he knew that the true objective here was to test his limits—to see how far he could go before a monster beat him.
Soon, his suspicions were confirmed.
The bushes rustled, and as he turned toward them, he was met with yet another monster.
It looked like some kind of frog with spider legs—the sight would easily make him purchase a flamethrower if he wasn't broke.
—Webbed Frog [Level 3] [65/65 HP]
As it took notice of him, the weird spider frog suddenly opened its mouth, and instead of the usual frog tongue, what came out was a sharp web that headed straight for his neck.
But just as it was about to make contact, Rael summoned his sword, and with a mere flick of his wrist, severed the web in two.
The spider frog seemed startled for a moment as it reopened its mouth to shoot out another web.
However, the moment it did, Rael threw his sword like a javelin, piercing right through the Webbed Frog's forehead.
-499! Critical Hit!
The difficulty is increasing, Rael pondered.
While it wasn't anything he couldn't handle, in just a few more levels, he would actually begin to struggle.
Nonetheless, he waited for a monster to appear from the grass, but even after several seconds, nothing happened.
But just as he thought the trial bugged out, he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up as he suddenly ducked.
Immediately, a sharp claw skimmed past his cheek, and as it did, Rael used the downward momentum to send a kick toward the attacker.
-245!
An eagle? Rael looked down, and it was indeed an eagle... just blue. How original.
But now that he figured out monsters could come from above, he no longer let his guard down.
Instead, Rael felt the trembling of the earth, and following that, a mole appeared out of the ground, trying to aim for his feet.
—Kobold Molerat [Level 5] [150/150 HP]
Like before, he took his time to line up the attack before sending a clean kick to the mole's side.
-245!
Rael continued doing the same for the next few minutes until eventually, he reached his own level.
—Crimson Werewolf [Level 11] [660/660 HP]
This one would be much tougher than the previous opponents since, until now, his damage was solid enough to deal with them pretty easily.
But now...
Rael tilted his head, dodging an incoming claw from the werewolf.
It didn't stop there—it attempted to sweep his legs, but he dodged by kicking its leg in return.
-245!
[HP -150! 1240/1390]
He managed to knock its momentum off course for a slight moment, which in turn gave him enough time to bring his sword down onto its furry body.
-543! Critical Hit!
First time taking damage. Rael sighed.
While he did fight a bit recklessly, it was a calculated risk since, if he hadn't done what he just did, the werewolf would have likely managed to land a free hit on him.
But of course, he couldn't keep doing it this way.
After exactly five seconds, the next enemy appeared—an aerial-type monster at last.
—Innocent Hornet [Level 12] [780/780 HP]
Innocent? Seriously... Rael sighed at the system's naming sense.
Unlike most of his fights, he waited for the hornet to make its move.
And soon, it did. Its basketball-sized body dove down in an attempt to pierce him with its stinger.
But since this monster only had a single movement trajectory, dealing with it was pretty easy.
Therefore, he waited until it was right about to sting him, then he brought his body backward, leaning slightly, which caused the hornet to become confused as it suddenly dived downward.
That was when Rael kicked off the ground. Using the momentum, he thrust his sword forward and slashed straight through its entire body in a heartbeat.

-780! Instant Kill!
That's a new one, he thought with a tilt of his head.
However, despite how easy it seemed, he knew that by level 20 at the latest, he'd run into serious trouble.
Nonetheless, he blitzed through the monsters, not being hit once, until finally, he reached his first milestone after killing the level 15 monster.
"No shit." Rael scoffed. "So much for a cool-sounding name. I'll be a laughing stock among the other boss monsters if my real name is my boss name..."
While he was a bit unhappy, all that mattered in the end was that he would become a Rare-Ranked boss monster after this naming ceremony was finished.
For that...
—Gray Wolf [Level 16] [1360/1360 HP]
I really need to beat a couple more of these, don't I? Rael grumbled, entering a defensive stance.
It was like any ordinary wolf—just many times bigger, and of course, gray.
But its canines seemed sharper and much longer. Therefore, he had to stay vigilant.
Yet as those thoughts fell, the Gray Wolf suddenly dashed toward him, its speed surpassing everything he had dealt with up until now.
However, Rael was half-prepared. As he brought his sword forward, he attempted to block its head-on approach with a stab.
-489!
The stab just barely landed on its front foot, but in return...
[HP -477! 763/1390]
A pair of sharp teeth gripped his arm, shaking it violently and threatening to rip it off.
"You fucking mutt." Rael groaned in pain and rotated his body, putting the Gray Wolf in a headlock. "Yeah? What now, you sack of flea shit?"
He knocked it over the head with the side of his sword.
-511! Critical Hit!
"Not looking pretty now, are you?" Rael threw the whimpering wolf to the side as a menacing look appeared on his face.
"I'll show you why I earned the title , you damn mutt."
"...Arf?"
