Re-Awakening: Cannon Fodder With Strongest Talent-Chapter 62: E+ Talent!
Chapter 62: E+ Talent!
<Ferocius Beast: Crystal Ape> <Devour>
<Rank: Mid-Silver>
<Crystal Hardening Talent: D Grade>
"The Silver-rank is fallen!"
The cry erupted from a thousand throats, rippling across the battlements like wildfire. Hardened veterans embraced while blood-spattered recruits stared in disbelief at the impossible victory they’d just achieved.
The general exhaled slowly, tension draining from his shoulders as he surveyed the battlefield. Blood streaked his armor, mingling with sweat and dirt.
Finally. I thought that I was going to die.
Across the wall, medics rushed to the official who’d been sent flying by the Ape’s massive fist. The man lay crumpled against broken stone, chest rising and falling in shallow breaths—alive, but barely.
"We are not done!" The remaining official’s voice cut through the premature celebration, his sword cleaving an Iron-rank beast in two. "There are still monsters to kill! It’s too early to celebrate!"
His words jolted the defenders back to reality. The battle continued, though transformed by their triumph over the Silver-rank.
A veteran spearman who’d fought with grim determination now laughed as he impaled a fleeing wolf-beast, the sound startling after hours of tense silence. "They’re running! Look at the bastards run!"
A young soldier who’d been paralysed with fear minutes before now charged forward, blood-lust replacing terror. "For the wall! For the fallen!"
Across the battlefield, the rout continued. Predators became prey as the defenders pressed their advantage, cutting down fleeing monsters with no mercy.
Ethan looked at the general, then his gaze fixed on the Crystal Ape’s massive corpse.
"Can I have it?" He gestured toward the monster. "I might be able to advance to the Silver rank with its core."
’might’ for others meant certainty for him. But that secret remained his alone.
The general’s lips curved in a rare smile, blood-flecked teeth gleaming in the afternoon sun.
"You can have it. You deserve it." He clasped Ethan’s shoulder briefly. "We wouldn’t have won without you."
Ethan nodded in gratitude as the fallen beast vanished into his storage ring.
"Thank you."
"No problem." The general wiped his blade clean, eyes already scanning the distant sections of wall. "The other sections of the city are still being attacked. I will head to the southern part."
His gaze settled on Ethan, calculation evident in his expression.
"Do you want to head to the northern part?"
"I would rather head to the southern part."
The general’s eyebrow arched, recognition flickering in his eyes. The northern section—General Han’s territory. Ethan’s refusal spoke volumes.
"Alright," he nodded. "I will head to the northern part."
Ethan turned away, already accelerating toward the city proper.
I would be crazy to help Han Wei’s father. I’d be delivering myself to the enemy on a golden platter.
He disappeared down the wall steps, Enhanced Speed carrying him past startled soldiers and into the maze of streets beyond. Buildings flashed by in a blur as he sought privacy for what came next.
A collapsed storefront caught his eye—the roof caved in, the walls partially standing.
It was perfect with no one to witness what he was about to do.
Ethan slipped inside, confirming his solitude before retrieving the Crystal Ape’s corpse from his storage ring. The monster materialised with a dull thud, its massive body still radiating residual power.
<Mid-Silver Rank Core> <Devour>
Devour.
The moment his power connected with the core, the world exploded into sensation. Lightning coursed through his meridians, molten power flooding every cell.
His vitality expanded, stretching beyond the limit of bronze-rank and into the realm of Silver-rank.
<Ding! Your Vitality has advanced to Low-Silver Rank>
<Crystal Ape is available for transformation>
<Iron Enhancement has evolved to Crystal Hardening (E+)>
Ethan exhaled slowly.

Low-Silver.
The threshold that separated genuine power from the masses. In a city where Bronze-rank constituted the elite, Silver-ranked awakened stood at the top of the food chain. They could be counted on two hands.
And he’d just joined their ranks.
His gaze fell on the large body of the ape.
’Devour.’
< +6 Vitality >
Power settled into his bones, his muscles, his very essence.
<Vitality: 156>
With his talents and his Silver-rank, threats that would have annihilated him mere hours ago now fell within the realm of possibility.
’With the transformation of the Crystal Ape, I would like to think that only the city lord can kill me. I had underestimated myself, maybe I should have gone to the northern part. I could have gotten rid of General Han in case he had done anything stupid too.’
Ethan stepped from the ruined building, transformed in ways invisible to casual observation.
A Silver-rank predator.
The city streets had emptied, civilians hiding in their homes as distant battle cries echoed from the walls. Perfect for Ethan’s enhanced speed as he raced toward the southern district, his body a blur of motion ordinary eyes couldn’t track.
He took a detour past Lin’s restaurant, relief washing through him as he sensed no disturbance. The makeshift barricades remained intact, no signs of forced entry.
"I’m fine! Stay inside!" he shouted as he passed, not slowing his pace.
A curtain twitched in response—someone acknowledging his voice. Good enough. They were safe for now, which meant he could focus on the larger threat.
The southern wall loomed ahead, smoke rising from multiple breaches. Screams and roars mingled in the distinctive cacophony of battle. Soldiers fought desperately against waves of monsters, their bronze-rank officers struggling to maintain cohesion as the assault intensified.
Ethan slowed at the perimeter, assessing the situation
His gaze narrowed, scanning the battlefield beyond the wall.
