Alice Turner searched the entire house but couldn’t find any trace of Benjamin Shaw. It was only then that she realized he had sneaked out while she was making coffee in the kitchen.

She had been deceived by that man. Just a moment ago, she thought he was seriously reading a book, but he was just pretending. It’s a pity he doesn’t become an actor.

Alice felt furious and regretful, but now, no matter how angry or regretful she was, it was useless. The man had already left, and her divorce plan for tomorrow was ruined.

When Alice looked in the mirror in the bathroom, she noticed a large bump on her forehead. Earlier, she had been so busy sparring with Benjamin Shaw that she hadn’t even felt the pain. Now, she touched it gently.

She placed the pajamas on the sink, opened the door, and left the bathroom again. After leaving the bathroom, she walked directly to the kitchen.

Alice took some ice out of the refrigerator. Holding the ice, she returned to the bathroom, wrapped it in a towel, and applied it to her forehead.

After about ten minutes of icing, when the swelling and pain subsided a bit, she tossed the ice wrapped in the towel into the toilet.

She looked in the mirror; the bump was still there. Sighing at her reflection, she tossed the towel into the sink, took off her clothes, and began to shower, ignoring the bump on her forehead.

With only one usable hand, Alice found many things inconvenient. While showering with one hand, she had to be careful not to get the other hand wet.

What would normally take half an hour took her a full hour.

After finishing her shower, more than an hour had passed. Even with her hair still damp, she didn’t immediately go to bed. Instead, she went to get the book left in the living room. As she picked up the book, she noticed her phone flashing.

She bent down to pick up the phone she had thrown on the sofa. After unlocking it with her fingerprint, she saw a missed call and an unread text message.

The message was from Benjamin Shaw, containing just five words in response to the text Alice had sent him.

Facing the phone, Alice angrily cursed, calling him a scoundrel. After venting, she checked the missed calls; there were two, both from Thomas Fisher.

She took a deep breath to ease her stifled emotions, then redialed the number.

"Hello! Alice!"

As soon as the call rang once, Thomas Fisher picked it up, eagerly calling out Alice’s name as the call connected.
