Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 623 Cause and Effect (1)_1
Noah Reyes’s mood suddenly became very heavy when he left the Emperor Hotel, and he fell into a state that seemed like regret but wasn’t quite regret.
He thought of something. When he had just been mocking Adele Horne’s son for being illegitimate, he forgot that if he himself actually had a child, that child would currently bear the status of an illegitimate child as well.
Instantly, his heart ached as if it had been pricked by a needle.
Adele Horne’s son, even though he currently bore the title of an illegitimate child, was acknowledged by the Horne Family, and they even hosted such an extravagant full-moon celebration for him. What about his child? Would they be recognized by her family? Would there be such a grand full-moon celebration when the time came?
As various speculations flitted through his mind, Noah Reyes tasted regret for the first time.
「In the Emperor Hotel」
The arrival of the two young masters kicked off the full-moon celebration.
The media’s flashbulbs were trained on the luxurious cars, snapping away as the protagonists alighted. They kept their distance, afraid the bright lights might scare the two young masters. The media’s eyes are the sharpest. The one the family valued most—the baby—was currently asleep, and they certainly dared not disturb him too much. If they accidentally angered Eldest Young Master Horne, they might lose even the chance to shoot, a loss far greater than any gain.
The Horne Family members alighted from their cars in front of the hotel. The matriarch was helped to the front. She walked ahead, looking rejuvenated and particularly spirited today. She even entered the hotel without needing her maid’s support. A female manager inside the hotel smiled and stepped forward to assist her as she came in.
Glades Horne and Julia, holding little Ivan, followed the matriarch into the hotel. Upon entering, guests immediately crowded around them. The men congratulated Glades Horne, while the women, after offering their congratulations, surrounded Julia, eager to see little Ivan.
"A well-formed forehead and clear facial features—he will surely be as handsome as Young Master Horne, a top-tier handsome man."
"Yes, indeed."
"So cute."
"I haven’t seen such a pink and tender baby in a long time."
"What a beautiful little guy."
The guests’ praises for little Ivan echoed nonstop.
Julia just held her son with a gentle smile.
Compared to the popular Ivan Horne, who received everyone’s praise, Jimmy Horne was only half as well-received. Only those particularly close to the Horne Family blessed Adele, glanced at Jimmy Horne, and remarked that the child looked nice. None of the uninvited guests surrounded Jimmy Horne; they all swarmed around Ivan.
Actually, both babies were equally adorable and beautiful, but their statuses were different.
Ivan Horne was the legitimate young grandson of the Horne Family. His father was Glades Horne, T City’s most valuable CEO, who commanded influence far and wide. These people were always eager to curry favor with Glades Horne, wanting to connect with the Valence Group. Naturally, they said all sorts of pleasing things about Ivan.
Although Jimmy Horne was also called a young grandson, he was an ’external’ one—his father unknown, and his mother, Adele Horne, had a bad reputation. Even though Adele’s demeanor seemed different now, people’s opinions of her were mostly stuck in the past. Adele also held no actual position, merely the title of a Horne family daughter. Consequently, Jimmy would not be the object of the guests’ flattery and praise.
Humans are just that realistic.
If it benefits them, they can call black white; if it doesn’t, they’ll call white black.
Hansen Ruiz arrived with Rachel Bailey, who was nearly eight months pregnant and dressed in a maternity dress. Her hair had grown long and was pulled up in a bun at the back of her head. Having been a wealthy wife for nearly a year and having spruced herself up a bit, she was gradually showing the demeanor of one.
At least now, she no longer gawked at lavish settings, nor did she fret over air conditioning expenses as she had when she first visited the Valence Group. Perhaps it wasn’t just the change in status but also her own successful career. With her career success and increased wealth, her outlook had gradually changed.
As Hansen Ruiz walked into the hotel with Rachel Bailey, Glades Horne’s bodyguards handed Hansen a cotton doll. Glades had brought this doll into the car and placed it on the back seat. It was the one Hansen had prepared for Glades in record time.
"Mr. Ruiz, the Eldest Young Master instructed me to give this doll to you to take inside."
Hansen grinned and nodded, taking the cotton doll. Rachel Bailey, standing by his side, was curious why Glades Horne would have her husband bring a cotton doll inside, but she didn’t ask.
She never pried into work matters between Hansen Ruiz and Glades Horne, much like Julia, who fully trusted her own husband, Glades.
Though Hansen’s face wore his usual warm smile, the warmth didn’t quite reach his eyes. This was because he had had a severe quarrel with his mother, Mrs. Ruiz, who had once again rushed to T City.
Mrs. Ruiz had left in anger. Although Hansen had successfully countered his mother, he still felt terrible after their heated argument. If not for his close relationship with Glades Horne and the friendship between Rachel and Julia, he might not have even shown up.
Although he was also a prominent figure in T City, capable of wielding great influence, his public appearances were rare; in his personal life, he was discreet.
All of Glades Horne’s close friends were there.
Even the ever-busy Benjamin Robinson, who usually couldn’t get away, had come.
After polite greetings, everyone headed upstairs, where many more guests were gathered on the second floor.
The other members of the Horne Family were also busy greeting the guests.
Julia’s relatives from the Bluen Family received special attention, as they were her maternal family.
Marcel Horne could now walk on his own and no longer needed a wheelchair, though he still had a slight limp. Doctor Lei said he would fully recover in two more months and could return to the army.
Members of his military unit often visited him, even though he hadn’t been with them for very long.
His superiors often called to express their concern. They were delighted to learn that he could walk on his own and would soon be able to return to the military.
