Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 59 Class Diehards_1
Chapter 59: Chapter 59 Class Diehards_1
"Glades? What’s going on? My little Julia, how could you..." Edo Hanley was the first to recover, immediately feigning heartbreak, as if he couldn’t bear for Julia Bluen to be in this situation, and cried out dramatically. However, after receiving an intense glare from Glades Horne, he forced the words on the tip of his tongue back down.
"If we could predict Glades’ moves, he wouldn’t be Glades Horne, would he?" Helen Griffin remarked, snapping out of her surprise and starting to laugh.
The others all chuckled; no one inquired further.
Hearing Glades’ words, Julia Bluen looked up at him. He had been worried she would feel embarrassed, so he had kept the news of the younger sister marrying in place of the elder under wraps, not letting the outside world know. Besides his relatives, only Hansen Ruiz and Benjamin Robinson were aware. By clarifying her identity to his close friends now, he was truly bringing her into his world. Even though we’ve known each other for over twenty years, I had never truly entered his world, Julia thought.
"Now that there are eight of us, let’s split into two teams for doubles. Glades, you and Julia pair up; you can be the husband-and-wife team. I’ll team up with Tomboy here, and we’re going to crush you two lovebirds, it’ll be brutal!" Edo Hanley announced, his tone more serious now, and he stopped calling Julia Bluen "little Julia." Changing the subject, he slung an arm around Helen Griffin’s shoulders like a brother, patting her and saying, "Alright, buddy, let’s show them some teamwork!"
"Don’t worry. Just make sure you don’t embarrass me by holding me back," Helen Griffin retorted good-naturedly, slapping Edo Hanley’s shoulder a few times in return.
Helen Griffin wasn’t bothered by the usual physical boundaries between men and women, and everyone was accustomed to her ways. Nor would anyone mistakenly think Helen Griffin might be romantically involved with any of the men, because she was a lesbian.
So, everyone laughed and joked, sweeping away the stunned atmosphere from before.
When one team played, the other would keep score and cheer them on from the sidelines.
The husband-and-wife team of Glades Horne and Julia Bluen were both tall, and thanks to regular exercise, their badminton skills were excellent. Helen Griffin and Edo Hanley’s team not only failed to rout the married couple but were instead thoroughly beaten by them, losing in just a few minutes.
After the other team took to the court, their game was also fierce, but eventually, a winning pair emerged.
Finally, the victorious pairs faced off against each other again.
Who would win and who would lose depended not just on skill, but also on the coordination between partners.

"Come on, Glades Horne, go for it! If you lose, Julia’s mine!" Edo Hanley shouted from the sidelines. He was probably used to fiercely competing with Glades Horne in business, and his encouraging words were laced with challenge.
WHOOSH!
The shuttlecock, hit errantly by Glades Horne, shot forcefully towards Edo Hanley, striking him squarely on the mouth. Edo cried out in pain, clutching his mouth, yet he was also laughing so hard his eyes crinkled shut.
Glades Horne would rather lose a point than let anyone even joke about coveting his Julia.
This possessiveness left everyone present secretly astonished. Since we’re such close friends, we know Glades Horne very well. If anyone dares to touch someone he cares about, he’ll ensure they suffer an exceptionally humiliating death. We all used to think Glades simply doted on Julia Bluen as his prospective younger sister-in-law. Now, we suddenly understand. Our friend, Glades, has genuine feelings for Julia.
As for his past romance with Ruby Bluen, everyone chose not to pry. After all, Julia is also a daughter of the Bluen Family, so the marriage alliance between the Horne and Bluen families remains intact. Once these two families are united, T City will truly be their domain. Anyone dreaming of seizing the Horne family’s top position in T City’s business world probably won’t get a chance even in their next lifetime.
"He lost a point! Hey, Han, shout a few more times! If we win later, we’ll give you a BMW!" one of the men on the opposing team yelled, seeing Glades Horne intentionally lose a point. Both he and his partner were delighted, trying to tempt Edo Hanley.
A chilling glare from Glades Horne swept over him, and Edo Hanley quickly clapped a hand over his mouth and scrambled to the side, making a surrender gesture to Glades’ opponents. A BMW? No way. I’ll stick to my Bentley. My life is more important! he thought.
Julia Bluen smiled, her eyes curving into crescents. Glades’ friends are so interesting, she thought.
Helen Griffin tossed the shuttlecock back onto the court. The opposing team served.
Glades, however, was staring intently at the man who had just taunted Edo Hanley with the BMW offer. His gaze, sharp as a cheetah’s, made both men on the opposing team feel their hair stand on end.
The serve came over fiercely, but Glades’ return was even fiercer. He smashed it back, and perhaps due to overwhelming tension, the opponents failed to receive it.
A new point began, and it was Glades’ and Julia’s turn to serve. Since Glades had served their team’s previous service, it was now Julia’s turn.
Glades’ tense expression softened when he turned his head and caught his wife’s smile. His eyes curved warmly as he gave Julia a look that clearly said, "Let’s sweep them off the court."
Julia returned his gaze with a look that conveyed, "No problem!"
Julia’s serves weren’t as aggressive as Glades’, and the opposing team managed to return them. But as the volleys intensified, they realized Julia’s badminton skills were in no way inferior to Glades’, and they dared not underestimate her.
The two teams battled fiercely, and the atmosphere grew increasingly tense. Even the four who had been eliminated stopped their joking and cheering, watching nervously as the two pairs engaged in a heated contest.
In the end, the husband-and-wife team won by a single point, thanks to their superior badminton skills.
"We won!" Julia exclaimed gleefully, tossing her racket aside and pouncing on Glades. He caught her easily, and she laughed like an excited child in his arms, Glades laughing with her.
The losing pair didn’t seem upset either; they chuckled as they watched Julia’s exuberant display.
Realizing she had just thrown herself into Glades’ arms in front of everyone, Julia playfully stuck out her tongue. I should get out of his embrace, she quickly thought, trying to pull away. But Glades simply tightened his arms, not letting her go.
"Here, little Julia, wipe your sweat," Edo Hanley offered, deliberately holding out a clean towel to her. The guy clearly wasn’t afraid of repercussions, even after being hit and glared at.
Glades’ face darkened, and he looked ready to explode, but Julia stopped him. Smiling, she accepted the towel from Edo Hanley. "Thank you, Big Bro Han," she said, then turned and gently wiped the sweat from Glades’ forehead.
