Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 58 Unwilling_1
Chapter 58: Chapter 58 Unwilling_1
After discussing for a while, Rylee Evans and his wife went to work, leaving Orlando Evans home alone.
After pondering on the sofa for a while, she found a pen and a piece of paper under the coffee table. She spread the paper on the coffee table and wrote down more than a dozen names—all men of the Horne family, young and old.
Glades Horne’s name was at the top of the list; she circled it with her pen.
This was the man she loved most deeply and yearned to possess.
Now that she’d been denied entry into the Horne household, contacting Glades Horne again would be incredibly difficult. Besides, Glades had already married Julia Bluen. Julia appeared easygoing, but she was, in fact, incredibly strong-willed and not someone to be trifled with. Orlando knew she couldn’t interfere in their relationship anytime soon. Still, she couldn’t bear to watch them happy together. She had to find a way into the Horne family; she had to use every means at her disposal to disrupt their marriage.
Her gaze fell upon Marcel Horne’s name, lingering only for a moment. Marcel was aloof by nature and a military man, stationed in Tibet for long periods. He hardly ever returned home, so she had no chance with him. The Horne family’s third and fifth young masters, who were twins, were also hard to figure out. Finally, her eyes settled on the name of the fourth young master, James Horne.
Despite being an illegitimate son, James was still considered a young master of the Horne family. He returned to the Horne residence almost daily, even if he often didn’t stay overnight; at least, he was one of the household’s masters. Moreover, James was known to be cold and unpredictable. Given his status, surely he harbored some resentment towards the Horne family? Why not approach him?
Glades Horne drove Julia Bluen from the Bluen family villa. After exiting the exclusive residential complex, he headed straight for the city’s stadium. The city stadium had an indoor Badminton Court Room, ideal for sports enthusiasts to exercise. However, the stadium wasn’t generally open to the public; access was usually restricted unless sports competitions were being held. On ordinary days, only individuals of a certain status could enter the stadium to exercise.
For someone as influential as Glades Horne, however, entry was unrestricted.
This was because he had personally invested in the stadium’s construction.
The city government was incredibly grateful to him, as his investment had saved them a substantial amount of money and contributed to the development of sports in the city. As the stadium’s primary investor, who would dare stop him from exercising there whenever he pleased?
After arriving at the stadium, Glades Horne and Julia Bluen went straight to the indoor Badminton Court Room to wait for his buddies.
About ten minutes later, several sedans of different brands began to arrive at the stadium, the least expensive of which was a BMW.
Glades Horne’s buddies arrived, badminton racquets in hand, chatting and laughing as they headed to the court. There were six of them in total—five men and one woman. The woman was quite refined-looking, about the same height as Julia. She had short hair and was dressed in androgynous clothing, giving her the appearance of a handsome young man with no trace of femininity. Consequently, everyone called her "tomboy."
"What’s going on, Glades? We agreed to play golf. Why the sudden change of plan? Badminton gets intense, and it’s really hot," the tomboy complained as she walked.
"This is how you get fit. But Helen, this really isn’t for you. Look at you! If you get any fitter, you might as well just marry a woman," teased a handsome man with flirtatious eyes, glancing back at Helen Griffin as he walked ahead of her.
The moment he finished speaking, Helen landed a punch on his shoulder. It was a heavy blow, making the man cry out in pain and yell for help. They had just entered the Badminton Court Room. Seeing Julia Bluen there, the man’s eyes lit up. "Julia! Julia, save me!" he yelled, rushing towards her with his arms outstretched, as if to pull her into an embrace.
Suddenly, a large foot swept out, knocking him aside. He sprawled on the ground, wailing even louder.
Glades Horne stood protectively in front of Julia Bluen, his handsome face taut with anger. He glared at the man and snapped, "Edo, stay away from my Julia!"
He knew the dispositions of his buddies all too well. Edo Hanley, for example, was the only son of T City’s transport tycoon and an incorrigible womanizer who pursued any beautiful woman he encountered. However, Edo was very loyal to his friends. The Valence Group was also involved in the transportation sector and competed with Edo’s company. In business, Glades and Edo fought tooth and nail, but privately they respected each other, making them both rivals and friends.
Having known them for a long time, Edo was familiar with the Bluen sisters. He always affectionately called the charming and vivacious Julia Bluen "Julia."
"Yours?" Helen Griffin exclaimed in surprise. She kindly helped Edo Hanley to his feet; he had angered their ’Prince’ and earned a kick for it. Helen then looked at Glades Horne with a smile, asking, "Wasn’t Ruby yours? It’s odd. You never bring your wife to hang out with us, but today you brought your sister-in-law."
They had never seen any man dote on his sister-in-law the way Glades Horne did, cherishing her like a precious treasure. Anyone who didn’t know better would assume he was in love with his sister-in-law.
Glades Horne stretched out his arm and pulled Julia Bluen into his embrace. The gesture was full of authority, tenderness, and possessiveness—hardly befitting a brother-in-law.
An awkward silence descended as they stared, dumbfounded.
These five men and one woman were all influential figures in the business world, typically composed and unfazed even if Mount Tai itself were to collapse before their eyes. Yet, Glades Horne’s action left them utterly stunned.
Each of them was dumbstruck, exchanging bewildered glances before their gazes collectively fixed on Glades Horne.
What in the world was happening?
A brother-in-law embracing his sister-in-law?
Glades Horne looked down at Julia Bluen, his eyes reassuring her not to feel awkward. When he saw that Julia showed no signs of embarrassment or discomfort, and instead looked rather amused, he felt relieved. Then, a mischievous glint in his eyes, he announced coolly, "Julia is my wife!"
In an instant, the six of them froze as if petrified, their minds reeling to comprehend this revelation.
They all knew Glades Horne and Ruby Bluen were childhood sweethearts. Their romantic relationship had been established for several years, and their wedding date had only recently been set. How could Glades Horne’s wife suddenly be the Bluen family’s second daughter, Julia?
