Pregnant During An Apocalypse [BL]-Chapter 160 - Recalled food
Chapter 160: Chapter 160 - Recalled food
Yunfeng let out a slow breath, his arms still wrapped protectively around Hana and Jai.
Their sobs had quieted to soft sniffles, their bodies warm against his.
He gently rubbed Hana’s back, feeling her tremble slightly. Jai, still clutching his sleeve, wiped at his face furiously, as if embarrassed by his outburst.
"It’s okay now," Yunfeng murmured. "I’m here."
Hana hiccupped, nodding against his shoulder, and Jai gave a weak nod, though his lips were still pressed into a thin line.
Just as the moment settled into a fragile calm, Shao walked in, his face shadowed with exhaustion.
But Yunfeng barely had time to register him before his eyes landed on the unfamiliar figure beside him.
A young man stood next to Shao, his clothes stained with dark smears of grease, his expression unreadable.
Shao didn’t introduce him immediately. Instead, his gaze flickered toward Yunfeng.
"It’s good to see you awake," he said, stepping closer. "How do you feel?"
Yunfeng blinked at him before shifting slightly. "Strangely... fine."
Shao hummed, his sharp eyes assessing him. Without asking, he reached forward and carefully pulled Yunfeng’s shirt back to check the wound.
Silence fell over the room.
The gaping injury had closed even more, the edges knitting together at an unnatural speed. It still looked raw, but it was undeniably healing—faster than it should have.
Shao’s frown deepened. "It’s closing up." His voice was quiet, thoughtful. "That could only mean there’s a chance of recovery. But..." He hesitated. "Not everyone might be lucky."
A heavy silence followed his words. Yunfeng glanced at the others. Hana bit her lip, looking down. Jai’s fists tightened again.
Not everyone might be lucky.
How many had already been lost? How many more would fall?
Shao didn’t dwell on the thought. He sighed and stepped back, allowing Lu Zhi to move forward.
The unknown young man sat down beside them, stretching his legs out.
"Chen looks so peaceful when he’s asleep," Lu Zhi mused, tilting his head toward Muchen. "You should’ve seen him an hour ago. He was wailing and screaming like anything."
He chuckled lightly and reached out to adjust a strand of Muchen’s hair.
A hand instantly slapped his away. freewebnøvel.com
Lu Zhi jerked back, startled.
It took a second for everyone to register what had happened.
Yunfeng had slapped his hand away.
The movement had been instinctive, driven by something raw and possessive inside him. His fingers curled into fists, his eyes subtly narrowed as he looked at Lu Zhi.
For a beat, no one spoke.
The air in the room shifted—tense, uncertain.
Then Shao cleared his throat. "This is my brother, Lu Zhi," he explained, breaking the silence. "He’s like a brother to Muchen."
Yunfeng’s shoulders relaxed slightly, his glare easing.
"Oh," he said, a little awkwardly.
Shao scooted close. "ill take him. He’ll cry of a back ache if he sleeps like this." He reached out to muchen who was sleeping peacefully on the ground.
A low growl sounded.
Yunfeng’s low growl sent shivers down everyone’s spine.
"Mine!"
Shao, caught off guard, instinctively took a step back, raising his hands in a silent sign of surrender.
Hana, who had been quietly observing, now looked positively enthralled. "Whoa..." she whispered, eyes gleaming with excitement.
Shao frowned. "Do you want him to keep lying on the cold ground? It’s not good for the ba—" He caught himself, jaw clenching slightly.
The slip had been dangerously close.
Muchen’s pregnancy was a secret. A truth that only Muchen himself had the right to reveal. Shao swallowed the rest of his sentence, watching Yunfeng carefully.
But Yunfeng barely noticed.
He shifted, sitting up straight, and without hesitation, lifted Muchen into his lap. His arms tightened around him, cradling him protectively.
A familiar scent drifted into his senses.
Roses.
The delicate, lingering fragrance of Muchen’s skin filled his lungs. He inhaled deeply, eyes fluttering shut for just a moment.
How much I missed this...
His fingers curled slightly against the fabric of Muchen’s clothes. His warmth, his breath against Yunfeng’s chest—it was real. He was real.
Yunfeng’s heart clenched as memories flashed through his mind.
The last time they had spoken, it had been in anger.
"I hate it! I hate children,"
Muchen’s resolute words had cut Yunfeng deeper than any knife ever could.
He had ran away impulsively.
Now, he felt nothing but regret.
’Even if he shouted those words... even if he said he hated children, I should have stayed. I should have been there.’
Gritting his teeth, he pulled Muchen impossibly closer, resting his cheek against his soft hair.
’He will love our child,’ Yunfeng told himself. ’I know he will. I won’t run away again.’
His grip tightened. ’I almost lost him because of my own stupidity.’
"I’ll never let him go again. He is mine and mine alone."
Unbeknownst to him, his blue-green eyes flickered with an eerie glow.
Hana, who had been standing to the side, had to physically restrain herself from squealing.
Her mind was practically exploding.
’Wahhhh wahhh so cute!!! They are both so cuteee!!!’
She clutched her face, biting her lip to keep from making any embarrassing noises.
Her brother, normally goofy and sarcastic, was now holding Muchen like the most precious thing in the world.
His whole aura screamed possessive husband and she was living for it.
Shao, on the other hand, wasn’t as amused. His gaze didn’t waver as he crossed his arms.
"Yunfeng, lay him down properly. He is not a toy for you to hold and play with," he said, voice firm.
Yunfeng, however, acted as if he hadn’t heard him at all. His focus was solely on Muchen.
Gently, carefully, he adjusted his hold and knelt down, lowering Muchen onto the torn-up cardboard box serving as a makeshift bed. His movements were slow, precise—like he was handling something fragile, something irreplaceable.
The small shift must have roused Muchen because he blinked up at him, his sleepy eyes wide and innocent.
Yunfeng’s heart clenched at the sight. His usually sharp-eyed, confident Muchen now looked dazed and vulnerable, his lashes damp from his earlier tears. The redness in his eyes made Yunfeng ache.
"It’s okay. Sleep some more."
Muchen frowned, shaking his head. "No..." He sat up, rubbing his forehead as if trying to chase away the lingering exhaustion.
Then his gaze darted to Yunfeng’s shoulders.
"How’s your wound?"
Frantic, he reached out, fumbling with Yunfeng’s shirt, lifting it before Yunfeng could stop him. His fingers trembled as they brushed over the healing skin, his breath shaky.
Only when he saw the edges of the wound closing up did he let out a relieved sigh.
"It’s healing..."
His gaze met Yunfeng’s, eyes filled with so many unsaid emotions—fear, relief, something deeper.
Yunfeng swallowed hard before reaching up and gently cupping Muchen’s face. His thumb brushed against the soft skin of his cheek, wiping away the last traces of dried tears.
"I’m glad."
Muchen blinked, confused. "Glad?"
"I’m glad I’m alive too." Yunfeng’s voice was low, thick with emotion. "Or else... I would have carried a lifelong regret."
Before Muchen could respond, Yunfeng leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek.
It was brief. Tender. But it sent a visible shudder through Muchen.
Yunfeng pulled back just in time to see Muchen’s face erupt into a bright shade of red.
"You... there are people here," Muchen whispered, flustered beyond belief.
"Who cares." Yunfeng smirked, scooting closer as if to steal another kiss.
But before he could, a very distinct, very loud sound interrupted the moment.
Grrrrrggghhh.
A growl.
Not from an enemy, not from a zombie—
From Muchen’s stomach.
A brief silence fell over the room.
Muchen clutched his stomach, looking sheepish. "Ohh... Guess I’m hungry."
Yunfeng chuckled, sitting up straight. "I have food," he said quickly, reaching for the bag he had carried with him.
As he rummaged through it, a small figure stirred on top of the bundle.
The little monkey, his unexpected companion, was perched on the bag, watching him with round, innocent eyes.
Yunfeng nudged it aside. "I’ll feed you later."
After shifting through the contents, he pulled out a few bags of chips and handed them to Muchen with a grin.
"Here."
Muchen reached for them, eager—
Only for the bag to be snatched away.
Yunfeng’s head snapped up, glaring. "Why are you—"
Hana cut him off with a deadpan look. "Are you trying to poison him?"
"These were recalled because they caused a lot of food poisoning cases... I thought I threw them away a long time ago. Why do you even have them?"
Yunfeng blinked.
"But... you gave them to me."
"I clearly didn’t." Hana crossed her arms. "I left them outside my room while cleaning. I thought Mom threw them away. Guess you decided to steal them instead."
Yunfeng’s jaw slackened slightly. "I—"
Muchen, still sitting there with his hands empty, looked between them before letting out a soft laugh.
"So basically, you were about to feed me poison?"
Yunfeng groaned, rubbing his face. "Damn it. I’ll find you actual food, okay?"
Finally Yunfeng ended up finding bread in the bottom of his bag and it was completely devoured by Muchen.
