Practicing Medical Skills in a Small Clinic-Chapter 298 - 166: Special Appointment, Too Many Cases of Conjunctivitis (Part 2)
No need for this.
Li Jingsheng pulled out his ’signature skill’ from practicing on Old Street of South City—his expressionless face.
Pretending not to know these people, he walked straight ahead without any expression.
As they were about to pass each other, Li Jingsheng was on the right side.
Walk on the right, after all.
He understands traffic rules.
"Wait, aren’t you Ou Qinglan’s boyfriend?"
Professor Wu originally thought this young man would approach him respectfully.
Unexpectedly, Li Jingsheng kept a blank look, pretending not to know him.
"Looks familiar, who might you be?"
Li Jingsheng looked at Professor Wu as if examining a ’national treasure’.
Professor Wu, of such stature, felt quite insulted that he was forgotten.
His face turned dark.
"Dr. Li forgot? We met at Jidong Restaurant the night before last. At that time, Dr. Ou was drunk, and you took her home."
A young doctor behind hastily reminded him.
"Oh—so it’s you guys! No wonder you look familiar. Goodbye!"
Li Jingsheng waved at them and continued onward.
No intention of mingling at all.
Professor Wu was so angry that his chest was heaving, his face stiffened.
He is considered ’respected and esteemed’ in orthopedics, with top-tier academic abilities. Which young doctor doesn’t greet him warmly with a smile, eagerly flattering him?
And yet, this young clinic doctor showed no ’interest’ at all.
The stark contrast indeed infuriated him.
"This clinic doctor isn’t from our hospital. It’s one thing to learn secretly in the outpatient room; now, he’s even entering the orthopedics office area?"
Professor Wu’s words already carried a tone of dissatisfaction.
"Just saw him coming out from Director Hua’s office."
That nurse has sharp eyes.
"These days, the manipulative reduction outpatient keeps pushing patients to the inpatient department or even to outside hospitals. It’s outrageous. I’m going to give Director Hua some advice. You guys go to the consultation room first."
Professor Wu planned to use his status to show Li Jingsheng a lesson.
Although the manipulative reduction outpatient is very special, despite being a chief physician, he doesn’t have authority over that area.
He can only offer some advice at most.
Just then, Director Hua briskly walked out from the office.
"Director Hua, I wanted to chat with you about something. Is now a convenient time?"
Director Wu politely asked as he approached.
A department director is an administrative position, not necessarily the most skilled doctor in the department.
The focus is primarily on leadership and management abilities.
But most department directors possess strong medical skills, high academic standing, along with excellent management skills—making them well-rounded talent.
They’re the overlords of the department with high status and power.
The chief physicians and associate chief physicians below them are department big shots.
"Sure! Old Wu, I heard there’s been a result regarding your group’s bone injury patient who’s going to be cemented?" Director Hua was more concerned about the department’s patients.
As a department leader, akin to a head of a large family.
There are lots of worries.
"We’re about to discuss it again; the family has basically agreed. I plan to organize a collective discussion among my doctors again to review risk and potential outcome, but the plan isn’t finalized yet."
Professor Wu replied.
"Matters concerning the spine indeed require caution. The use of bone cement is your area of expertise, your strong suit, which reassures me. Didn’t you have something to discuss with me?"
Director Hua glanced at his watch.
Though not explicitly stated, the meaning was clear.
Inviting Professor Wu to quickly say what he wanted to.
"Urgent matters you need to handle?"
Professor Wu was curious about what Li Jingsheng talked about in Director Hua’s office.
Report about getting Ou Qinglan drunk the other night to Director Hua?
That wouldn’t be of any use.
It was all mutual, after work, they’re all adults, and no one’s policing drinking.
"Old Xu from the manipulative reduction outpatient isn’t well? I’m thinking of hiring someone else. The person is ready, and I plan on talking to hospital management."
Director Hua did not hide it from him.
"What I wanted to address is precisely about the manipulative reduction outpatient. Their behavior is too out of line, pushing patients who could be treated manually either to the inpatient department or outside hospitals. This could seriously harm our orthopedics department’s reputation."
Mentioning this gave Professor Wu a chance to finally speak.
"I heard they even brought in a clinic doctor to sit and treat patients in the outpatient room, isn’t it absurd?"
He wanted to remove Li Jingsheng.
It’s outrageous that a non-hospital doctor dares act up in front of him—the orthopedic professor and chief physician. He’s determined to show the young man a lesson.
Chief physicians still wield significant influence.
The opinions they express are often given great importance by department directors, who try hard to solve them.
"Cough...I’m already working on resolving this issue! If there’s nothing else, I’ll head to hospital management now. The HR department usually finishes work early; I need to hurry."
Director Hua appeared impatient.
Many hospital administrative departments are like ’big shots’, absorbing the persona of being difficult to access, unpleasant, and hard to deal with.
With some connections and background, at work you can snack on sunflower seeds, play on your phone, play games, binge-watch shows—that’s nothing.
"Alright, please take care!"
Hearing that Director Hua planned to hire someone for the manipulative reduction outpatient, Professor Wu was quite pleased.
