Possessed No More: The True Star Returns to Claim Her Throne-Chapter 68: Casual
Riley Perry was from the Elysian Sect, after all. So, Leo had seen far too many carnal exploits to have any real concept of chastity. Only one thought ran through its mind: ’As long as Master is happy, that’s all that matters.’
So, when its master told it to drop the subject, Leo said no more. However, it immediately started stirring up trouble again. "The other three in this room are pretty good, but it’s a bit of a shame. Only one is still a ’Ryan.’ Master, you should just take him for yourself."
Leo was talking about Morgan Fisher. That’s right—in a novel, Morgan Fisher would be the archetypal second male lead: gentle as jade, with no relationship experience, obsessed with medicine, and completely chaste.
Riley Perry was speechless for a moment. ’Does it think this is still the Elysian Sect? Just "take" whoever I like? Even back in the Elysian Sect, I never took anyone, okay?’
Ethan Page spoke up, "An entertainer? A star this beautiful, and I’ve never even heard of you? Miss Perry, are you a recent debut?"
Unlike Julian Fuller, he looked like a roguish playboy but wasn’t like that at all. He had only ever had one girlfriend, and he’d been single ever since they broke up. Despite his immense wealth, he wasn’t interested in playing around with women. His greatest hobbies were drinking, singing, and playing mahjong with his friends. It was perfectly normal that he didn’t recognize Riley Perry; after all, she truly had no fame to speak of.
Riley Perry collected her thoughts and said candidly, "My acting isn’t very good. I debuted three years ago and I’m still a total nobody. It’s perfectly normal that you’ve never seen me, Mr. Page."
Julian Fuller was paying attention to her expression. She was genuinely unfazed, seemingly not caring at all whether she was famous or not.
Moreover, she was completely relaxed, showing none of the calculating, reserved, or desperate behavior other women displayed when they met them. It was quite surprising.
Julian Fuller looked at Ethan Page. "Isn’t your family’s company looking for a brand ambassador recently?"
Evermore was one of the top three jewelry brands in the country. The celebrities who endorsed Evermore were A-listers at a minimum, yet Cole Sinclair had just asked for the role for Riley Perry on a whim.
What was even more astounding was that Ethan Page agreed without a second thought. "Right. We keep good things in the family. Let’s just give the endorsement to Riley. We’ll start her fee at the second-tier rate."
These terms were absolutely generous.
Riley Perry hadn’t expected Ethan Page to be so generous. "President Page, I’m just an obscure, Z-list actress. I can’t possibly carry the endorsement for a top-tier brand.
If you’re still willing to give me this opportunity a year from now, President Page, then I will definitely work hard to earn it.
But I can’t do it now. If I endorse your product at my current level, it will have a negative impact on your brand.
You three are Mr. Sinclair’s best friends. I can’t just sabotage you like that."
’Her voice is so beautiful. It’s worth an A-list endorsement on its own. Still, I’ve really never seen a female celebrity refuse such a golden opportunity when it’s handed to her on a silver platter.’
’Mr. Sinclair? That title certainly creates some distance.’
Ethan Page said nonchalantly, "Has he ever not screwed me over? One more time won’t make a difference."
Cole Sinclair pulled Riley Perry’s hand onto his lap, toying with it as he raised an eyebrow at her. "You really don’t want it?"
Riley Perry feigned embarrassment and nudged the man with her elbow. "Oh, come on. How can one accept such a huge gift from someone they’ve just met for the first time~"
Cole Sinclair looked at Ethan Page. "Then forget it." He then said to Riley, "I’ll find you some suitable opportunities later."
’Given the status of these three, any opportunities they could offer would probably be way above my current standing. That’s why I’ve never planned on asking Cole Sinclair for opportunities. As long as I act well and my shows get broadcast, the buzz will build, and opportunities will naturally come my way. As the saying goes: it’s better to rely on yourself than on others. That’s why I never pin my hopes on anyone else. If I want something, I just have to work hard for it myself.’
"Let’s have the food brought in first. We can talk while we eat," Cole Sinclair said.
Since this was Julian Fuller’s territory, he naturally handled all the arrangements for food and drinks.
Soon, a waiter entered the room carrying platters and set them on the dining table in the antechamber.
As they got up, Cole Sinclair said casually, "Order whatever you want. Julian isn’t a stranger."
Since the two of them were walking behind the others, Riley Perry took the opportunity when no one was watching to stand on her tiptoes and kiss the man’s earlobe. "Alright, my Mr. Sinclair."
Cole Sinclair: ’...This little minx is teasing me again.’
At the table, Riley Perry ate in peace while the men discussed finance, investments, the stock market, and various projects. It was a conversation the average person couldn’t possibly join.
"Are you bored listening to us talk?" Cole Sinclair asked in a low voice, noticing that she was just eating without saying a word.
Riley Perry replied, "Not at all. You all go on with your conversation, and I’ll go on with my food."
Her voice was quiet, but with only a few of them there, the others naturally heard her. Ethan Page couldn’t help but laugh out loud. "Looks like Old Fuller’s cooking really suits Miss Perry’s tastes."
He had personally watched her eat two pieces of steamed eight-treasure pork, take three helpings of pot-stewed chicken, have garlic sausage twice, gnaw on a salt-baked chicken leg, and even finish a tureen of shark fin soup. Honestly, he had never seen any woman he knew eat that much. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
And she ate so elegantly, just like one of those well-bred ladies from high society. No, many of those young heiresses couldn’t compare to her at all.
What’s more, she didn’t just eat by herself. Whenever she found something delicious, she would put a piece on Colt’s plate.
She was very good at taking care of people.
Colt was also clearly different from before, like a great block of ice that was slowly starting to melt.
They used to suspect Colt would be single for the rest of his life, but who would have thought he’d suddenly see the light.
This was great!
"It really is delicious. You all keep talking, don’t mind me. I won’t go hungry."
Seeing that she was genuinely not the least bit uncomfortable, the four men turned their attention back to their own conversation.
After dinner, Cole Sinclair asked Riley Perry, "Do you want to go have some fun? Julian’s place has a lot of interesting spots. I can have someone show you around."
Riley Perry figured they had things to discuss and that her presence would be inconvenient, so she said, "Sure. I don’t understand what you all talk about anyway."
Upon hearing this, Julian Fuller immediately summoned his busty female secretary. "Secretary Thorne, show Miss Perry around the club. Put any of her expenses on my tab."
Secretary Thorne was dressed in a pink, hip-hugging dress. With her ample chest and long legs in black stockings, she was a total knockout.
"Understood, boss. Miss Perry, this way, please."
"I’ll be in your hands, then," Riley Perry said as she stood up and followed Secretary Thorne out of the private room.
Secretary Thorne’s smile was picture-perfect; Riley Perry could even count her eight pearly-white teeth. "Where would you like to go, Miss Perry?"
"I’m fine with anything."
Secretary Thorne then led Riley Perry to the elevator. The doors opened, and a group of people walked out. Riley took a couple of steps back to let them pass. Among them, one particularly elegant young woman gave Riley Perry a lingering look.
Riley Perry was never afraid of being stared at, but the way the other woman looked at her clearly indicated she recognized her. And, what’s more, there was a hint of hostility in her eyes.
Once the group had left, Riley Perry and Secretary Thorne entered the elevator. "Secretary Thorne, did you know those people from a moment ago?"
She had seen Secretary Thorne nod to them.
"Anyone who can come up to the eighth floor is a person of status in Dragonspire. That young woman in the white dress was Miss Melanie Chenning of Dragonspire’s Chenning Family. She was studying abroad and only returned to the country this year.
She has now started working at the Chennings’ company to learn the ropes. Some people say she’s very likely to take over the Chenning Group in the future and become the heiress."
