"Oh, you’ve gotta be kidding me," John breathed, equal parts excited and terrified. "A Shiny Mega Rayquaza? This is either the best or worst thing that could’ve happened right now!"

Though actually, this was perfect. It meant he could save using Dragon Dance for later, no cooldown needed.

All those dungeon runs where John had deliberately avoided catching a Rayquaza? It was precisely because he’d been worried about getting one that didn’t know Dragon Dance yet.

"I came fully prepared for this," John declared confidently.

He raised his hand and commanded: "Trick Room!"

A pale purple Plate materialized before Mega Gardevoir, the Mind Plate, representing Psychic-type power.

With the Plate’s energy enhancement, every Pokemon caught within Trick Room had their speed dramatically reduced, all of it transferred directly onto Mega Gardevoir instead.

"Queen’s Grasp!" John raised his finger, deciding it was time to unleash the ultimate move.

Reconnaissance phase was over. Time to finish this in one decisive strike.

Mega Shiny Rayquaza, which had been "swimming" through the sky with absolute freedom, suddenly felt itself getting locked down.

Not by someone’s gaze, by space and time itself. Invisible shackles bound it in the heavens, making movement nearly impossible!

The moment it realized it was trapped, Mega Shiny Rayquaza flew into a rage! Furious flames burned in those golden eyes!

The sky represented freedom! The whole reason Flying-types took to the air in the first place was to escape the earth’s constraints!

As the ruler of the skies, as the deity of all Flying-type Pokemon, being restrained in its own domain by an opponent was an unbearable insult to Rayquaza!

Its black-and-gold body trembled violently in the sky, a sign of it struggling with every ounce of strength it possessed. Tiny fractures began appearing in the surrounding space. Even frozen time showed faint signs of distortion and recovery.

This feeling... John remembered it well from when he’d faced Mewtwo.

Mewtwo was a top-tier Psychic-type legendary. If you couldn’t deal with its Teleport spam and Future Sight precognition, forget about beating it, you couldn’t even land a hit. The frustration wasn’t that it was hard to beat. It was the hopeless feeling that victory was impossible from the very start.

Despite Mega Shiny Rayquaza’s desperate struggles, two massive hands emerged from the spatial rifts. Not leisurely and overwhelming like previous uses, these hands slammed shut urgently, gripping tight with brutal force!

An explosion shook heaven and earth.

The sheer kinetic energy and momentum of Mega Rayquaza diving from such extreme altitude was a terrifying physical attack that couldn’t be ignored.

John had no intention of holding back anymore. He threw five Pokeballs in rapid succession.
