Chapter 467 - Crashing Against the Sea Wave!

New n𝙤vel chapters are published on novelbuddy.cσ๓.

A massive wave approached, and most of the people aboard the ship bound for the Fiore region wore solemn expressions.

Faced with the huge wave towering far above the ship, even the crew had no idea how to resist it—they were utterly helpless.

Though it was called "huge wave," its height was nearly comparable to a raging wave. This colossal wave, reaching several meters high, was something the ship had no means to deal with.

At this moment, the captain and crew no longer cared about anything else. They had all rushed to the deck, their faces grim as they watched the rapidly approaching wave, bitterness filling their hearts.

"Water-type Pokémon, Flying-type Pokémon are already prepared... but a wave of this magnitude isn't something the Pokémon on board can possibly stop."

With the gale pushing these towering waves forward, even if multiple Water-type Pokémon worked together, they would still be powerless.

Ultimately, the chances of a wave of this magnitude appearing in these waters were incredibly low. Under natural circumstances, it was nearly impossible. Since it had now happened, there was likely some sea creature behind it.

"Are you ready?"

"Yes."

Among everyone present, only a handful remained calm. Yet, even they wore tense expressions. Facing such an enormous wave, no one could maintain complete composure.

Terrance took a deep breath, the air thick with the scent of seawater. By now, the ship still hadn't made any moves, which likely meant that, just as Albus and the others had suspected, this vessel was truly incapable of doing anything against such a huge wave.

If the ship had a large number of Trainers aboard, it wouldn't be as bad. But on this vessel... there were only a handful who could even send out Water-type or Flying-type Pokémon.

Albus, Fujiki, and Terrance had originally planned to reach Nightmare Island without incident, but given the current situation... it seemed like they were the only ones who could act.

"Come to think of it... something like this..." Terrance thought to himself. It had happened before in Kanto's Vermilion City. The cause? Dozens of Gyarados going berserk at once, triggering huge waves over ten meters high—far more terrifying than this one.

If those waves had crashed into Vermilion City, it wouldn't have just been a matter of buildings being destroyed—who knew how many lives would have been lost in that disaster?

Waves over ten meters high were beyond what Vermilion City's defensive infrastructure could withstand. No one had ever anticipated such a scenario, and even the Gym Leader in charge of protecting the city had been powerless against the raging waves.

However, by sheer luck, Kanto's Elite Four member, Lorelei, had been in Vermilion City at the time. As a top-tier Trainer specializing in Ice-type Pokémon, she had managed to freeze the entire section of the sea using only her Lapras and Dewgong, preventing a catastrophe that could have devastated Vermilion City.

It was only after that incident that the port city began establishing and training a specialized Pokémon force to combat large-scale sea waves.

"Rumble—rumble—rumble!!"

As the massive wave approached, though only a few seconds had passed, everyone present felt as if an entire century had gone by.

Despair... cries... sorrow...

The ship's captain gripped the railing tightly, his eyes bloodshot as he stared at the waters below. Whether they could survive this wave—whether they could get past it—depended entirely on the Water-type Pokémon stationed on the ships!

But in the face of this colossal wave, the few Water-type Pokémon on board seemed pitifully insignificant!

"What's going on with that Gyarados?!"

At that moment, several crew members' eyes widened in shock. They had spotted a Gyarados charging madly toward the wave—one that was nearly twice the size of an average Gyarados!

However, even with its massive size, the idea of this Gyarados rushing toward the huge wave seemed nothing short of suicidal in their eyes.

No matter how big a Gyarados was, could it possibly surpass a towering wave several meters high? If the wave crashed down with all its force, even as a Water-type Pokémon, that Gyarados would likely meet a terrible fate.

"It's not one of our fleet's Pokémon. Is it wild? Or does it belong to a Trainer on board?!"

The crew cried out in alarm—was there really a Trainer attempting to fight against this huge wave?!

"No way... It's impossible. If it's just a single Gyarados..."

Though they thought this in their hearts, everyone wished that the ship could be saved.

But a lone Gyarados... it gave them no hope at all.

Yet in the very next moment, all their expressions drastically changed.

A deafening rumble rang out, its roar overpowering even the sound of the sea wave. In an instant, pitch-black storm clouds gathered over the sea, and massive raindrops began to pour down in torrents.

This sudden turn of events made the people on the ship sink even deeper into despair.

A monstrous sea wave and a rainstorm?!

Was there anything worse than encountering both of these at sea?!

"It's over."

Including the captain, everyone's mind completely collapsed.

"Hold onto something! Don't let go!!"

At that moment, Terrance and Albus shouted at the top of their lungs. "Move faster!"

"Be careful not to get thrown off!!"

The two moved quickly, rushing back and forth while shouting orders. Many people were momentarily stunned by these two youngsters' actions.

However, almost instinctively, they all followed what Terrance and Albus had said. In reality, only a small number of people hadn't grabbed onto something yet—most had already clung tightly or grabbed onto anything that looked sturdy, fearing they would be swept away by the huge wave...

Even though, if this huge wave crashed down, the entire ship would be done for.

"Your Castform's Rain Dance... is absolutely terrifying."

"And the speed at which it was cast wasn't bad either. Otherwise, everyone here would be finished," Albus said, greatly surprised.

Terrance's expression remained grim—he knew this wasn't over yet. Looking toward the sea wave, he saw Gyarados had already raised up a huge wave of its own, attempting to clash against the huge wave.

Surf Move!

However, even though Albus's Gyarados was strong, it was still powerless against the sheer magnitude of the oncoming wave.

The scale and force of the two waves... weren't even in the same league, even with the boost from Rain Dance!

The rain made the sea look even more violent.

Of course, that wasn't the true purpose of Rain Dance—otherwise, it would have only backfired on them. The fact that Gyarados's Surf was no match for it wasn't unexpected.

But when the two powerful massive Hurricanes howled through the sky, adding force to Gyarados's Surf, its speed and power instantly multiplied several times over!!

In the blink of an eye, Castform and Gyarados used the "Hurricane" move at the same time!!

The huge wave and Surf—two formidable waves—finally collided before everyone's horrified gaze...

BOOM!!!!

The deafening sound was so overwhelming that no one could believe it had been caused by water—the very element they had always thought of as gentle.

The two waves crashed into each other, but Albus and Terrance's expressions remained tense. This was only the beginning. While the collision had neutralized much of the force from both sides, the shockwaves and the collapsed waves still carried an overwhelming force, surging outward in all directions!!

"It's coming!!"

A loud shout—then, with a whoosh, a towering chill descended upon the entire sea!!
