Pokémon: Chronicles of Freedom-Chapter 589 - 588: The Great Deceiver Makes His Move
Chapter 589 - 588: The Great Deceiver Makes His Move
Cain nodded as he listened to the Minister's words.
Indeed, if they continued living underground, they might remain undiscovered for a long time.
But the problem was that Cain had already found them.
Could they still remain hidden?
Cain wouldn't say it outright, but the reality was that they were already under surveillance.
Cain smiled and said, "It's true, I'm the first to come here in many years. But where there's a first, there's always a second. How can you guarantee that the next person who comes won't have ill intentions? Are you willing to gamble the fate of your entire clan?"
"All I can say is that the diamonds you can create have extremely high value in the outside world. And furthermore, you yourselves, as Pokémon, are highly valuable commodities."
When Cain referred to them as "commodities," the Carbink Minister's expression turned somewhat uncomfortable. However, as a Fairy-type Pokémon with sharp intuition, it knew Cain wasn't lying.
If what Cain said was true, then the outside world would bring them nothing but trouble.
Emerging to the surface would only mean that their entire clan would become coveted by outsiders.
"Why are you telling me all this? What's your goal?" asked the Carbink Minister, cutting to the heart of the matter.
Instead of answering directly, Cain maintained his smile and continued, "Let me give you another piece of information. Right now, I'm among the first thirty people to set foot on this island. Outside, there's a group of people far more powerful and terrifying waiting to arrive."
"When they do, after what I've just told you, can you imagine what will happen?"
"Exactly. Your entire clan will become merchandise."
"Don't even think about digging deeper underground. With the skills of these people, even if you go to the deepest part of the island, you won't escape their tracking. Because you're worth the effort."
The Carbink Minister's face grew even darker because, in truth, it had been considering just that—digging deeper to hide.
But Cain's words implied that such a plan wouldn't work either.
"Why has the outside world become so terrifying? In the stories passed down by our clan, while the outside world was dangerous, if you found the right place to live, it wasn't so bad."
"And they never mentioned the existence of a species called 'humans' who could control Pokémon like us."
Perhaps the elders of their clan had never encountered humans, or maybe they had never seen humans with special tools.
Hundreds of years ago, the Kalos region had yet to be discovered by the Pokémon League, so training Pokémon wasn't a common practice. Moreover, who knows if trainers even existed back then?
"So tell me, what's your goal? I don't believe you came here just to warn us," the Carbink Minister insisted astutely, going straight to the point.
This time, Cain couldn't dodge the question, and an even wider smile spread across his face. His dark eyes gleamed intensely.
Seeing Cain's expression, his Pokémon, like Drapion, felt a chill run down their spines.
Too terrifying—Master was about to start deceiving again. Someone else was about to fall into his trap.
This was the first thought that crossed the minds of Slowking and the others.
Cain didn't consider himself a deceiver; rather, he believed he was persuading others to arrive at the correct conclusion through reason and emotion.
Using brute force was for fools. If he could win over the entire Carbink clan without lifting a finger, it would be much better.
During their brief conversation, Cain had discovered that this was the entire Carbink clan.
They hadn't suffered significant losses over the years, but the cost of bringing new Carbink into the world was extremely high. Over time, they had only managed to gather just over 200 members.
While the number was small, it was enough to satisfy the appetites of Larvitar and Aron.
This was Cain's first thought.
"Of course, it's not that simple. Have you ever heard of a Pokémon called Diancie?" Cain asked with a smile.
When the Carbink Minister heard the name "Diancie," its body trembled.
Perhaps the other Carbink didn't know, but when it transformed into a Carbink Minister, it understood its mission.
To serve a Pokémon called Diancie, help it become the king of the entire Carbink clan, and thus transform its people into the Carbink Kingdom.
This information had surfaced in its mind when it completed its transformation.
It was knowledge etched into the core of its being—a kind of instinct passed down through its species' bloodline.
The pink figure had always been engraved in the Minister's mind. It had searched for Diancie for a long time but had never found it.
The Carbink Minister spoke in a trembling voice, "Y-You... have you seen... Diancie?"
In the legends of the Carbink clan, there were descriptions of Diancie, but it was always considered a myth. Only the Minister, after seeing the image of Diancie in its mind, believed in its existence.
Over the years, it had managed to convince the rest of the clan of Diancie's existence, even though they had never seen it.
"No, I haven't seen it," Cain replied firmly.
"You...!" The Carbink Minister felt it was being toyed with.
"But think about this. As someone who had never seen a Carbink before, how could I know about the existence of Diancie? After all, even you haven't seen one, right? It's just a myth, isn't it?" Cain explained.
The Minister considered Cain's words. If they themselves hadn't seen Diancie, how could an outsider have seen it?
"But how do you know so much?" asked the Minister, speechless at Cain's logic.
Cain smiled, pleased with the Minister's cunning.
"I know how to help you find Diancie. Within five years, I can help you locate your king. When that happens, the entire Carbink clan will become the Carbink Kingdom, and you, Carbink Minister, will be a true Minister."
"With Diancie's abilities, you'll no longer be easy prey. You'll become one of the most powerful Pokémon of all."
Five years?
Who knew what would happen in five years? By then, Tyranitar would have fully evolved, and Cain would have the power of an elite-level trainer or even beyond. While finding Diancie would be difficult, it wasn't impossible.
The Great Deceiver, Cain, had officially made his move.
