Please Let Me Go, My Contracted Ex-Husband.-Chapter 275- I love him
She seemed to have never carefully examined him like this before. No! It wasn’t that she’d never looked at him this way, but she had never done so with her heart full of him. His eyebrows, eyes, and features were already handsome, and when combined, they gave off an innate, regal air. Paired with his determined gaze and warm smile, he always gave off a sense of calm wisdom.
In the past, she would often wake up in the middle of the night and watch him. At those times, she would keep asking herself, "Is this how I’m going to spend my life with this man?" She would fall back into a deep sleep, still filled with doubt.
But now, she could finally, confidently, and seriously tell herself—and everyone—that she, Bonnie, was willing to spend the rest of her life walking hand in hand with this man. She believed that he would bring her happiness, give her protection, and provide her with a warm life.
Faced with the intense and ambiguous emotions between them, Mrs. Boston felt like a high-wattage light bulb. After giving them one last lingering glance, she quietly stood up and left the room.
No one could know how delighted her heart was at that moment: because her son had finally found the love he’d been waiting for!
Later, Mrs. Boston grabbed James’s hand, tears of joy streaming down her face.
"Son, you are happier than I am. You waited for four years, and finally, she opened her heart to you. But I waited my whole life and never got his heart... sigh..."
As she spoke, Mrs. Boston let out a long sigh. James, his heart aching, gently held her hands in return.
"Mom—"
Mrs. Boston only felt sad for a brief moment before wiping away her tears and smiling again.
"But I don’t regret living my life in this loveless marriage. At least I gave you a complete family, which allowed you to grow into the outstanding, steady man you are today, rather than becoming someone with emotional scars from early family upheaval."
"You know why I was so strongly against you two at the beginning? Because I could tell she didn’t love you. I didn’t want you to follow my footsteps..."
Mrs. Boston continued, holding James’s hand as she spoke.
"But now, seeing you both so deeply in love, I can finally put my heart at ease."
James placed his mother’s hand on his lips and kissed it deeply, then said with determination:
"Mom, thank you for your tolerance all these years, both toward her and toward me. We’ll love each other well."
After returning home from the hospital, Bonnie was treated like a protected species by everyone. She couldn’t do this, she couldn’t do that; everyone seemed to want her to just lie there all day long without moving, simply taking care of the pregnancy.
James had already arranged for her to take leave from work. Well, even though the TV station was technically owned by the two of them, the HR department still had to notify her formally. When she asked him how long he had requested the leave for, he smiled and casually tossed her three words: "Indefinitely."
She was so angry that she almost went crazy, but after thinking about her current situation, she took several deep breaths to calm the fire in her heart and then turned around, entering the room without saying another word to him.
Although she was on leave now, she was still worried about how to handle the maternity benefits. He simply gave her a reassuring smile and said, "Don’t worry, I’ll handle everything."
The next day, news broke that the officials responsible for the maternity benefits had been investigated and were under "shuanggui" (a type of Chinese disciplinary investigation). Within a few days, it was revealed that they had admitted to pocketing the entire maternity fund themselves and had orchestrated the news event.
As for Anna, her reckless actions had brought disaster to the Danny family. Albert had directly acquired all the assets of the Danny family, and Anna’s family had no choice but to flee abroad.
At that moment, Bonnie was sitting in a rattan chair on the balcony, lazily squinting her eyes as she read the extensive reports on the matter in the newspaper. The warm sunlight poured over her, and she couldn’t help but smile slightly to herself. She thought,
This Albert is truly ruthless.
But, no matter how ruthless he was, he could never escape from Cynthia’s grasp. Thinking back to how cold and imposing he had once been, and now imagining him as the "good husband, good father" Cynthia described, her smile widened.
She thought to herself that one day, she would have to tease Albert and make him call her "Cynthia" just to see the look on the wise and mighty Wilson’s face when he heard it. Even though he should be calling her that by now, with their age gap, he probably wouldn’t be able to bring himself to say it.
James walked in from outside and saw her smiling to herself. His lips curled into a slight smile as well. The happiest thing for him these days was seeing her smile like that every day. He walked over, bent down, and kissed her forehead gently, smiling as he asked,
"What’s making you so happy?"
Bonnie lowered the newspaper, raised her hand to pull him closer by the neck, and tilted her head back to look at him.
"I was thinking... fate is such a mysterious thing..."
For example, if it weren’t for the hatred between Albert and the others, Cynthia would never have married Albert, and there would be no epic love story between them. The Laurence family wouldn’t have been pushed into a corner, and she would never have met James. So, fate really is... quite mysterious...
James looked at her for a while and then nodded seriously, as if deep in thought.
"I’ve noticed that since you got pregnant, you’ve become more sentimental, crying a lot and always making these kinds of reflections..."
She frowned, displeased.
"Who’s sentimental? You’re making it sound like I’m someone! Hmph!"
He smiled and leaned in, his nose touching hers, a smile full of indulgence on his lips.
"You’re not sentimental? Then what are you?"
"I’m... I’m..."
She winked mischievously, then pulled his neck down and whispered softly in his ear. The warm breath against his skin made him break out in goosebumps.
She made it so flirtatious, and he thought she was about to say something sweet and romantic. His body unconsciously leaned in closer, his heart racing in his chest. But instead, she teased him and said,
"I’m not telling you!"
After she said that, Bonnie happily pushed him aside and went into the house, laughing. James stood there, frustrated and sulking. How could he forget that her true nature wasn’t about being sentimental just because she cried a few times and got emotional a few times? She was someone who loved to bicker with him and find ways to tease him every day.
Bonnie glanced back at him, the person she had just teased, and secretly smiled as she entered the room. Actually, she wanted to say: *It’s not that I’m sentimental. It’s because I love you, because there’s someone living in my heart, and that’s why so many delicate emotions are born from it.*
But, please forgive her for being too shy to say such things directly. It was hard for her to admit it out loud, so she found a way to save face by teasing him like this.
Mrs. Boston stayed for only a few days before returning to Malaysia. Originally, she had come to help her son take care of his wife, but her omnipotent son ended up doing everything himself. In fact, especially when it came to cooking, she felt more like a free loader than a helper.
