Please Let Me Go, My Contracted Ex-Husband.-Chapter 161 - - lost control
Chapter 161 - 161- lost control
Lucca suppressed the emotions in his eyes, and what he finally said was laced with heavy sarcasm.
"Miss Lancaster, you really can smile?"
Cynthia stood up from her seat, looking at him in confusion. Lucca continued to smile, but the smile was full of mockery.
"I've heard that Miss Lancaster is highly skilled in medicine, a brilliant healer with a kind heart. But Miss Lancaster, you can save everyone's life, yet you alone have pushed him into an abyss from which he can never escape!"
Cynthia's expression slightly changed. She furrowed her brows and looked at Lucca, asking indifferently,
"Miss Lucca, what do you mean?"
Beneath her composed face, there was an uncontainable tremor.
Lucca's tone suddenly turned sharp and cold.
"Miss Lancaster, don't you know that he's now trapped in a complete mess?"
Cynthia recalled how he had seemed so preoccupied these past few days. She clenched her fingers under her lab coat, and then she heard Lucca continue,
"Because of Miss Lancaster's heroic actions at the golf course, his identity was exposed, and all his revenge plans were revealed. Everything he's spent years carefully planning has been ruined!"
"What...?"
Cynthia's calm facade was completely torn apart. Lucca's words were like sharp knives, stabbing deeply into her heart. Her face turned pale as paper.
She hadn't expected that saving Robin that day would lead to this. At that time, all she had thought about was not making things difficult for Bonnie, but she never imagined it would deal him such a devastating blow.
At this point, Lucca's emotions became increasingly agitated, and her words grew more and more frantic.
"That day, he was certain he could have killed Robin, but you ruined everything. Now Robin somehow managed to gather funds, and the entire Laurence family's operations have started to run smoothly. Trying to act against them again is almost impossible!"
By the end, Lucca completely lost control and began to cry. She was truly angry and frustrated for him. After so many years of enduring humiliation, after so many years of meticulous planning, that woman had ruined everything, yet he still kept her by his side!
She didn't deserve to be by his side.
Especially when she heard that the Laurence family had raised the funds and was back on track, she nearly lost her mind. Even though she had seen how well he treated that woman, she pretended not to notice, deluding herself into thinking that his feelings for that woman were only a temporary infatuation.
Soon enough, after he succeeded in his revenge, she hoped he would see all the sacrifices she had made for him and choose to return to her. But now, everything was in a deadlock. She was overwhelmed with a sense of hopelessness, as if the world was collapsing around her. Without thinking, she rushed to find Cynthia, and the ease with which Cynthia was living her life was a harsh sting to her.
She trembled, her body shaking as she leaned against the wall of the small clinic, screaming at Cynthia with all her strength.
"Cynthia, how can a woman like you deserve to stay by his side?!"
A faint trace of pain crossed Cynthia's pale face. She bit down hard on her lip. She had always felt terrified deep down because of the vast gap between her and him. Now, with Lucca's accusation, her heart felt even more unbearable.
But Lucca was relentless, almost frantically accusing her.
"You only bring him disaster, bring him harm. All these years of marriage, what have you done for him? What have you sacrificed for him? Every time, it's just you endlessly taking from him!"
Cynthia wanted to retort, but when she opened her mouth, she found herself speechless. What Lucca said was the truth. She hadn't done anything for him; all she had done was anger him, hurt him, or ignore him—especially in those first two years.
Gary, unable to stand it any longer, stepped forward and shoved the frantic Lucca.

"Have you said enough? If you're done, get out! You're not welcome here!"
Lucca, a bit disheveled, pulled out a tissue and wiped away the tears on her face. At this moment, her delicate makeup had smeared, but she didn't care anymore.
"Sorry, Miss Lancaster, I think I lost control. But I truly feel for him. You have no idea... how he's been living all these years..."
Cynthia tightly gripped her fingers and closed her eyes, taking a deep breath to suppress the pain that was building up inside her. As Lucca continued, her voice began to choke up again.
"When he was seven, his parents were betrayed by three of their closest friends and had to flee for their lives. With nowhere else to go, they tried to take him with them to the sea to end their lives."
Cynthia's vision blurred as she looked at Lucca. Through the haze, she felt that Lucca's pain didn't seem like an act. Some things couldn't be faked. She truly cared for him.
Lucca sighed deeply, holding back the pain as she recalled the past.
"Maybe he was lucky. He was washed ashore and saved by an old man. But at that time, the old man was also being hunted, so he couldn't take him with him and had to leave him on the side of the road..."
"Do you know? When I saw him, he was almost gone. His lips were already dark purple, and his limbs were frozen stiff. It was a snowstorm, and the temperature was well below freezing. I begged my father to find the best doctor, and we barely managed to save him!"
Lucca couldn't stop the tears as she continued,
"After that, to make himself stronger, he forced himself to endure all kinds of hardships. The days in the Golden Triangle jungles, where there was no light, fighting to survive through blood and blades, being tortured by venomous snakes and wild beasts. The hatred in his heart was as deep as his desire to live!"
With Lucca's last words, tears began to fall from Cynthia's eyes. She had once heard the old man say that he had pulled him from the sea during a snowstorm. But at that time, she had still been repulsed by him, so she hadn't wanted to hear anything about his past.
Later, no one had ever told her about his hatred, and she hadn't thought much about it. Now, she finally understood why he had such a deep fear of the sea and realized the weight of what he had endured. But what should she do now? Hadn't she already made things so difficult for him?
Lucca had said everything she needed to, and her accusations were finally voiced. Watching Cynthia, lost and tear-streaked, a sense of resentment and dissatisfaction in her heart gradually eased.
Cynthia, I don't believe his love for you is strong enough to withstand any misunderstanding or hardship.
The thing he hated most, his bottom line—only I know it best. Lucca thought coldly as she glanced at Cynthia, then turned and walked out of the small clinic.
