Playing a DPS Role with Absolute Defense-Chapter 69 - 67: Snatching a Disciple and Early Dungeon Emergence! (Mega - )
Chu Zhongtian’s face turned bright red from anger, but he had no idea how to retort.
Back then, the rules they set—Su Mo really did fulfill every one.
Not only did he meet them, but he even went above and beyond.
But damn, he just couldn’t let it go!
This Divine Level mount egg isn’t something he can’t give or doesn’t have, it just feels bad being played like this!
Thinking about all the years fighting across the stars and building up his fortune, only to get hustled by this old bastard.
If it was anyone else messing with him, he wouldn’t even be that mad—but this old bastard? What did he do to deserve it?
Is it ’cause he’s got no class? ’Cause he’s shameless? ’Cause he’s got a higher kill count? Hell, I’ve killed my fair share too!
After a long silence, Chu Zhongtian finally squeezed out a stammer: "That’s entrapment, doesn’t count!"
Tu Hongwu didn’t care at all and just replied: "Sure, I’ll call my apprentice over in a couple days, ask him again direct—happy?"
"Bullshit, he already knows about the Divine Level mount egg—what’s he gonna pick now? That’s just doing extra for no damn reason."
"So you know it’s extra, but you’re still whining? Just hand over your egg and be done with it. It’s just one little mount egg, not your actual balls! Besides, even if you offered me your balls, I wouldn’t want ’em."
"Fuck you! Old mutt, if you’re man enough, let’s fight—outside the atmosphere!"
"Fight then! Who’s scared? Just saying, if you lose, you gotta give my apprentice that egg."
Chu Zhongtian was so pissed his face turned beet red, spun around, and was about to fly off into orbit—only for Bai Yuanhao, quick as ever, to pop up next to him with his spatial powers and block him.
While talking him down, he shot Tu Hongwu frantic looks on the side.
"Old Chu, there’s no point, man. We’re all family here—if you two go at it, it’s a joke. Besides, that’s just how Old Tu is, you know him. Hey, Elder Zhang, maybe say something?"
Elder Zhang saw things getting heated, so he jumped in fast: "Yeah, yeah, let’s just sit down and talk. Fighting’s bad for everyone—seriously, come inside, I’ll make you some tea."
"Hmph, old mutt, I’ll let it go for Elder Zhang’s sake today, but I’m logging this. The egg stays at the Old Chu Family residence—have your apprentice come get it, in person!"
Tu Hongwu thought it over and decided it wasn’t a bad deal: "Just make sure you hatch that egg for my apprentice ahead of time."
"Get lost!"
With that, Chu Zhongtian swung his sleeve and vanished in a flash.
Bai Yuanhao and Elder Zhang just stared at each other, neither knowing what to say.
Tu Hongwu was still grumbling to himself: "Man, look at him, after all that, now he wants my apprentice to fetch it himself? Hatching an egg, and I get cursed out? Guy’s unbelievable..."
Elder Zhang glanced at Tu Hongwu and snapped:
"Enough, he’s left, so you quit yapping too. You two aren’t kids, squabbling your whole lives—been rivals since you were young, now both Divine Level, and still acting childish. I’m done with you guys."
As soon as Elder Zhang spoke, Tu Hongwu shut right up.
In Great Xia right now, if anyone could keep these Divine Levels in check, it was Elder Zhang and his crew.
Back before Tu Hongwu’s generation rose up, it was Elder Zhang’s crowd holding everything down—they used to be their idols.
Even though these guys have surpassed Elder Zhang now, the respect is still there, no less than before.
With Tu Hongwu calmed down, Elder Zhang barked again:
"Alright, you guys got what you wanted, why you still hanging at my place? You want me to make tea for you all day? Never any peace with you lot."
"Hahaha, alright Elder Zhang, you do your thing, we’re out."
Tu Hongwu grabbed Bai Yuanhao, ready to leave, but just then a booming voice rang out: "Godslayer, wait—there’s something about your apprentice. Don’t know if I should bring it up."
The speaker was head of the Southwest military district—though Divine Levels can’t act or linger long on Earth, every district’s got a Divine Level in orbit, always watching.
Just in case the Tri-Eyed Race ever pops in again to wipe out cities or nations.
Tu Hongwu heard this, eyebrows flaring red, and cut him off before he finished: "If you’re not sure you should say it, then don’t say it!"
Shen Weiguo’s face froze for a moment, his bushy beard and silly look making him almost comical.
After a beat, Shen Weiguo tried again: "I really think I oughta tell Godslayer about this."
Tu Hongwu pretended not to hear and tried to walk off again.
Elder Zhang looked at Shen Weiguo, then at Tu Hongwu, and finally spoke up: "We’re all here, you might as well listen. Don’t rush off yet."
Tu Hongwu sighed and turned back: "Fine, go on—what is it?"
"Here’s the thing—originally, we had it all worked out, no need to tell you. But looks like things changed, so..."
Tu Hongwu got bored of the monologue and snapped: "Quit beating around the bush, just spit it out."
Hearing the attitude, Shen Weiguo stopped wasting words:
"Your apprentice killed a Gold Rank—my guy. Originally, I wanted him to train a few years in college, then join up with our Southwest army. But you took him, so now I need an explanation."
Tu Hongwu mulled it over and finally realized what was up.
Ha! He’s poaching apprentices?!
Well, hell no—Tu Hongwu exploded: "It’s always ME taking advantage of people, and now you wanna get a piece of me?
Guess you’re itching for trouble! Big man now, huh? Got Divine Level, swaggering in like a hotshot?
An explanation—you want one? I’ll buy you a roll from the convenience store. Will that do?
If a Gold Rank can get wrecked by my Lv9 Awakened apprentice, dude was trash anyway. What do you want junk Golds for?
If you raised Golds like that, you got some nerves dragging my apprentice into it—what’s even going on in your head?
And seriously, a Gold going after a Lv9 Awakened? Isn’t that embarrassing?
Also, if I remember right, national law says high-level Professionals going after lower ranks is against the rules, right?"
Tu Hongwu pointed at Shen Weiguo, DPS-ing (spitting) all over his face.
Shen Weiguo’s face didn’t budge—maybe it’s just his tanned mug and massive beard, hard to read his expression anyway.
"True, high-level Professional going after a low-level Awakened is wrong, but your apprentice killing him was also wrong.
That Gold was one of Great Xia’s own, every one of them served the nation—just killing him like that, if there’s no explanation, how do I face the other Golds?
Not that I’d win in a fight—if you’re so tough, you can have my Southwest commander job!"
Shen Weiguo saw Tu Hongwu wasn’t playing fair, so he just leaned into it—nothing else he could do, can’t beat this old guy.
If he could, he’d drag him home and give him a beatdown to settle it.
Funny thing is, he only came here to lodge a complaint today and ran into Tu Hongwu by chance.
Tu Hongwu realized no explanation wouldn’t fly, so he pleaded to Elder Zhang: "Elder Zhang, you see how unreasonable he’s being?"
Elder Zhang was so annoyed his nose crooked, swung his sleeve and barked: "Handle your own mess, old man’s applying for retirement right now!"
Bai Yuanhao, who’d been supporting Tu Hongwu, stepped way back.
Just unlocking Su Mo’s system space had sapped his energy.
And then got dragged by Tu Hongwu to stand in as cover.
He thought he was just coming to show up—but ended up stuck with all this.
Came to get an item, found the guy himself, sorted the mess, and now another guy shows up to complain.
This shit never ends!
"Wait, Elder Zhang, don’t go!"
Tu Hongwu tried to stop Elder Zhang, but when that failed, he turned to Bai Yuanhao:
"Hey, Old Bai, why you so far away? Get over here and be a judge—this guy’s just playing dirty!"
Bai Yuanhao shook his head: "Sort out your own mess. If I’d known it was this kinda drama, I wouldn’t have come."
Shen Weiguo waved a chair right in front of the State Council doors and plopped himself down, like he couldn’t care less.
Scruff on his face, impossible to read, but his attitude was crystal clear.
Either he gets an explanation, or he’s burning his Divine Level status today—ready to stand his ground here.
Big age, couldn’t care what people think—it’s all about that apprentice of yours...
"Man, Old Shen, remember all we went through together? Hitting dungeons, fighting aliens, you telling me you forgot? Before you hit Divine Level, who looked out for you?"
"Sure, you looked out for me—charged into the alien army, hacking away while I got surrounded by two Divine Levels in the back. If I wasn’t tough, I almost died in there."
Tu Hongwu awkwardly rubbed his nose: "Hey, that’s ancient history—and if it hadn’t happened, you’d never have become Divine Level."
"Then I guess I should thank you!"
Tu Hongwu saw he wasn’t budging, looked all helpless—usually he’s the one pulling the dirty tricks, but now that it’s turned around, he was at a loss.
After a moment, he just leaned into it: "Fine, what kind of explanation do you want? Lay it out for me."
"Su Mo joins the Southwest army—thirty years of service."
Tu Hongwu blew his beard and glared: "You wish! Keep pushing and I’ll smack you!"
Shen Weiguo sat back, looking lifeless: "Go for it. I’m not fighting you back anyway!"
"Man, how can you act like this? Aren’t we Divine Levels? Have some pride—this kind of behavior shames us all!"
"I’m the one ashamed? Not long ago, who..."
Seeing he was about to drop some old scandal, Tu Hongwu quickly shouted: "You bring up old dirt, and I really WILL hit you."
"Fine, then say how we settle this."
"How about this..."
Tu Hongwu and Shen Weiguo mumbled together, then started laughing, buddies again, already planning to hit up the tavern for a drink. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Bai Yuanhao just looked on, totally helpless. Seriously, with these two clowns among Divine Levels, what can you even say?
The whole Divine Level gang’s reputation, totally trashed by these two!
As he thought that, a sudden message came in. His expression shifted, and he quickly called out to stop them:
"Wait, hold up on the drinks—the dungeon just popped early. I’ll go lock it down, you grab your apprentice."
