Playing a DPS Role with Absolute Defense-Chapter 120 - 118: With a Disciple Like This, Can You Still Teach Him?
"Old Tu, Old Tu, if you have something to say, sit down and say it slowly, there’s no need to get physical."
Bai Yuanhao had already stepped between Tu Hongwu as he spoke, separating the two.
These two have been at it their whole lives; if I don’t intervene, they’ll probably end up fighting for real.
And Chu Tian, this guy, you two have been arguing your whole lives, Tu Hongwu’s been under your thumb all this time, and now when he finally gets to take on a disciple, you want to snatch him away.
You’re not even treating Tu Hongwu like a person.
Not that Tu Hongwu’s any better; every time there’s a fight, it’s Chu Tian holding back. If it came down to it, Chu Tian could probably flatten him in three punches, yet they keep bickering.
Bai Yuanhao’s about the only person who could keep them in check; anyone else would just be kicked aside by these two clowns.
Granted, Tu Hongwu can’t beat Chu Tian, but he’s still a High-tier God, and he’s tried to walk the Extreme Dao path. Though he failed, most small fry wouldn’t dare mess with him.
After separating them, Bai Yuanhao turned to Chu Tian to placate him: "Old Chu, not to point fingers, but you have gone a bit overboard."
Chu Tian wiped his face, smoothed out his azure robe, and gave a cold snort: "Hmph!"
Just as he was pulled away, Tu Hongwu heard Chu Tian’s snort and rushed up to hit him, but Bai Yuanhao flashed in front, holding Tu Hongwu back.
He shouted, "Hey, you, hurry up and hold your master back."
Su Mo quickly stepped forward to restrain his master, and though Tu Hongwu was still fuming, when he saw Su Mo beside him, he paused.
Even just from a word of warning, if it came to blows, even a stray wave of energy would be too much for the average person to handle.
Moments later, Bai Yuanhao pulled out a long table and four chairs from the void, and the four of them sat facing each other, silent, the atmosphere unbearably awkward.
Bai Yuanhao, staying cool despite the awkwardness, pulled out a tea set from the space, and leisurely began to pour tea.
He made tea as if it were second nature, only speaking slowly after everyone had been served a cup:
"Old Chu, regardless of what you say about Su Mo, he is Old Tu’s disciple. To outright poach his student is somewhat underhanded. Would you care to explain why?"
Chu Tian picked up his teacup, glanced at Tu Hongwu, and, seeing he remained silent, took a slow sip of tea before finally speaking:
"Su Mo is on the Extreme Dao path, and right now in the Human Race, only one has reached godhood through it, and only I know how dangerous it can be. One misstep and he’ll explode and die, which is why I want to take him as a disciple."
[Bang!]
As soon as Chu Tian finished speaking, Tu Hongwu slammed the table, causing a loud bang, ripples spreading through the tea.
"Just because you’ve walked the Extreme Dao, doesn’t mean I haven’t!"
Chu Tian chuckled coldly: "With your half-baked Extreme Dao, you’re not even as skilled as your disciple, yet you claim to advise him."
With red hair to match his temper, Tu Hongwu’s whole face turned crimson at the jab.
He shot up, pointing furiously at Chu Tian: "So what if my disciple’s stronger? Isn’t it normal for a pupil to outgrow their master?
For argument’s sake, when you were at his age, had you mastered the Extreme Dao?"
Su Mo glanced around, met Bai Yuanhao’s eyes, then looked at the sparring pair, unsure how to interject.
To be honest, given the situation, the Great Xia’s two High-tier Gods fighting to take him as their disciple was pretty flattering.
But as happy as I am inside, I better not show it. If I dare laugh out loud now, I might get beat up by the Great Xia’s three High-tier Gods.
Still, just being able to say I survived being beaten by the three of them is brag-worthy.
After all, no one’s ever survived such a beating, and Su Mo might be the first.
"Alright, alright, Old Chu, Old Tu, have some tea and calm down. Since we’re all sitting here, there’s got to be room to talk this out. Constant arguing won’t solve anything."
Chu Tian snorted: "I don’t want to argue, but does he look like he wants to talk?"
"Old Dog Chu, what do you mean!"
"Alright, alright, shut it. Old Tu, calm down, and Old Chu, continue."
Tu Hongwu plopped back into his seat, grabbed his teacup, took a hard sip, then refilled his cup.
"Su Mo has walked five Extreme Daos!"
At Chu Tian’s words, Tu Hongwu’s teacup visibly paused.
Having attempted the Extreme Dao himself, he understood the sheer difficulty of the path.
Even now, he hasn’t completed a single Extreme Dao, but his disciple has walked five.
Extreme Dao isn’t something you just pick up on a whim like cabbages by the roadside; it’s daunting. In the whole Human Race, only Chu Tian has succeeded. The difficulty speaks for itself. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
After finishing, Chu Tian looked at Su Mo. The other two followed suit, wanting to confirm the truth.
Su Mo nodded in response, saying nothing.
Even though Chu Tian had suspected as much, hearing Su Mo confirm it still made him gasp.
Just walking one Extreme Dao was a colossal challenge for him; Su Mo had conquered five.
He couldn’t even begin to fathom how one could conquer five Extreme Daos!
The others’ gaze at Su Mo changed to one of amazement, as if looking at a marvel.
Chu Tian, who has managed one Extreme Dao, is already the Human Race’s first War God. What tremendous potential would one who walked five have if grown?
No wonder Chu Tian is so desperate to accept him as a disciple!
Even Bai Yuanhao couldn’t help but tremble at the prospect of such a student.
Realizing Bai Yuanhao’s thoughts, Tu Hongwu and Chu Tian both glared at him, making him retract his thoughts.
With those two already in chaos, getting himself involved could never end well.
"But can you really teach a disciple like that?"
For once, Tu Hongwu didn’t retort to Chu Tian’s question, instead falling into silence.
After a long pause, Tu Hongwu turned to Su Mo, saying: "Make your own decision. No matter your choice, I’ll support you, as your master."
Although his words were supportive, the underlying subtext was clear: no matter what, Su Mo would always be his disciple.
The others, naturally, caught onto Tu Hongwu’s intentions, but they didn’t comment further.
Considering the situation, Su Mo was indeed still his disciple, despite no formal apprenticeship ceremony having taken place.
During the college entrance exams, Tu Hongwu had already publicly declared on Earth that he would accept the top scorer as his disciple, and that went unquestioned.
