Players Invade Cyberpunk-Chapter 874 - 283: We Are All Pawns Abandoned

Theoretically, a radiation level of three rads is already lethal, but fortunately, in this era, no one dares to surf or swim in the sea anymore. Moreover, the so-called nearshore is actually a few kilometers from the coast, so it won't have any severe effects in a short period.

Besides the glowing sea surface, there are even more exciting events in Night City awaiting the bloodthirsty audience.

The walls of Dog Town couldn't hold for even a few minutes under the bombardment of self-propelled artillery and Chimera missiles before a large breach was blasted open.

A large number of Hellhounds surged out of the dust and smoke in Dog Town like roaches bursting out from under a blanket and flying into your face when you uncover it.

(Just imagining that scene scares the life out of me.)

After the path was blasted open, the Hellhounds received a unified command, immediately dropping their current targets and covering each other as they surged toward the breach.

Their reaction speed and movements were so synchronized that it was jaw-dropping.

Blindness, panic, questioning orders, fear of death, overexcitement...

These human flaws were completely absent in the machines, for they shared a single consciousness. All robots were merely extensions of their core, cooperating seamlessly like the fingers of a human hand, leaving almost no flaws.

The potential exhibited after industrial machines were converted into weapons of war was so astounding, it's no wonder those big corporations are eager to capture these rogue AIs and train them as weapons of war.

Even the players found it quite challenging to combat them.

"Damn, you just let them out like that. Won't people die?"

In the ruins of Dog Town, after the cannon fire ceased, the giant poked his head out from behind a pile of rubble, discovering that at least seventy percent of the Hellhounds had already dashed out, with only a few sporadic ones left behind.

He was deeply impressed by these ferocious Hellhounds, worrying that once they were out of Dog Town, they might unleash a storm of bloodshed.

After Wildman confirmed via drone that the Hellhounds were heading toward the city center, his prior suspicions were basically confirmed.

"The problem shouldn't be too big; it's nighttime now, and during the day it was stormy, so ordinary citizens should be staying quietly at home..."

"And these robots... they're terrifyingly calm. They didn't even open fire at random passersby in Dog Town, so outside Night City, they probably won't..."

The Hellhounds' behavior had drastically reshaped the image of mutinous AIs in Wildman's mind. They were entirely different from the ruthless Skynet or robotic emperors he had seen in films. If he had to pick a character, it would definitely be HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Cold, merciless, efficient, with all actions centered around mission objectives, any other factors were unnecessary.

Theoretically, as long as you don't block the Hellhounds' path, they won't even give you a second glance.

But if you raise a gun at them, showing hostile intent, your bullets might not be faster than theirs.

Wildman said, "Keeping them in Dog Town is the real trouble for us."

"We'd have to deal with both Netherworld Dogs and Hellhounds; having two groups of dogs mixed together is too much pressure for us."

Taking either group of dogs independently, players wouldn't find it too difficult, but when the two groups mix, players find themselves overwhelmed.

Although the Netherworld Dogs suffered significant casualties from the rogue AIs' Hellhound attacks, the two sides couldn't genuinely join forces, but

"Now that we know the rogue AIs' central target, we can actually use it to divide the forces, creating opportunities to defeat them one by one."

"Deal with the robots first?"

"No, take on the Netherworld Dogs first."

Wildman shook his head.

"The city map rules prohibit the use of powerful weapons outside Dog Town. We'd likely lose to the Hellhounds out there, not to mention the Chimeras."

"Then why did you let them out? I'm heartbroken, Peinan."

The giant watched helplessly as loads of experience and Orokin slipped out of his pocket, a pain that cut to the core.

"What's the rush? They won't go far; we have other places to fight."

Song Zhaomei had been pulled out by hacker players, and both sides were now battling fiercely in Cyberspace.

The key to winning this war isn't about taking down a number of robots, but whether we can eliminate this rogue AI and its computing center.

If you can't pinpoint the focus in warfare, you'll never win regardless of how you fight.

And this guy was heading to the corporate plaza; would the companies really just sit back and do nothing?

That capitalist iron fist over there would teach this rogue AI a hard lesson.

Wildman marked two high points on the Dog Town map: one was the Gem Cyan Hotel, and the other a hillside at the edge of Dog Town.

The former was the largest stronghold of the Netherworld Dogs, while the latter was Hansen's heavy artillery position, with three self-propelled artillery pieces, apparently trying to coordinate with the robot forces that had already rushed out, seeking to break through the corporate defense line and raid Zeta Technology.

Don't think they're inferior with fewer big-caliber cannons compared to the Chaotic Blade Association, but it also depends on who's using them. Wildman didn't want to gamble on the dubious artillery skills of the cornered Hansen.

"Let's go, get back to your hovercar."

Enormous mechanical beasts charged out of Dog Town, rampaging along the road, and any vehicle in their path was knocked over like a domino; nearly a ton of cars were pathetically fragile before them, losing control and crashing onto the roadside with even a casual bump.

Flanking the front and rear of two Chimeras were nearly a thousand Hellhound robots, a spectacular display akin to robots attacking Night City, catching everyone's attention. Those news helicopters initially focused on Dog Town have now turned to these mechanical monsters.
